What series have a final end?

So I’ve seen a huge amount of anime’s however most of them end after one or two seasons that don’t provide finality to the story albeit some of them are in production for a second or third season. What are some anime’s that have true closure to the story? Open to any genre.

Just off the top of my head:

Attack on Titan

Demon Slayer (will have one)

My Hero Academia (just finished)

JustAnotherWitness2026-01-02 22:41

Thanks! I’ve watched both attack on titan and my hero academia which I loved both but I’ll give demon slayer a try!

Niwrats2026-01-03 02:56

thanks for the academia tip, it's rare for me to be able to whitelist anything like this for watching.

PerceptionOk85432026-01-02 22:26

Shinsekai Yori, Higurashi, Death Note, Kaiji Ultimate Survivor, Takopi - a few of my favorite ones with endings

TrueDentist99012026-01-02 22:28

Kaiji does not have an end manga continues but ig its as much an end as there could be

PerceptionOk85432026-01-02 22:36

Damn first time I’ve heard about it, I thought the pachinko game was the end. I guess I have some reading to do then

Kiriijou2026-01-02 22:41

As an important heads up, **for OP** and anyone else who might be interested in watching Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni (Higurashi When They Cry), make sure you start with either: the [2006 anime](https://myanimelist.net/anime/934/Higurashi_no_Naku_Koro_ni) (and it's [second half Kai](https://myanimelist.net/anime/1889/Higurashi_no_Naku_Koro_ni_Kai)), the original visual novel, or the manga adaptation.

The 2020 anime Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni: Gou (Higurashi When They Cry: New), is a sequel to the original story, not a remake. **Don't accidentally start with Gou**, as it's full of spoilers.

(_Note: in most (if not all) regions, the only Higurashi anime on Crunchyroll, is Gou. Also, the original Visual Novel is currently available on Steam, under the title"Higurashi When They Cry: Hou", with the first arc being free to download._).

PerceptionOk85432026-01-02 22:47

I have even better suggestion, stop at Kai and don’t watch Gou. The story is completed in the 2006 version and the sequel was just a cheap cashgrab. It sucked

Kiriijou2026-01-02 22:48

True. Though I think "sucked" is a bit of an understatement of how bad it was.

JustAnotherWitness2026-01-02 22:42

Thanks for your suggestions! I haven’t heard of most of these. This will fill me out for a while.

Was hanging out with 2 of my buds ( well into theirs 30s) who weren’t into anime but I told them they would dig it.

We literally powered through the whole 2 dozen episodes that day.

magwaer2026-01-03 00:01

Watched more than 400 animes. And this one is still my top 1 in my list

Hyliaforce2026-01-02 22:40

Gintama but it's long tho, 367 episodes and some movies

CommanderZx22026-01-02 22:40

Original anime tends to have a complete story told within the season, as they aren't adapting anything. So you can usually comfortably watch any original anime and have a full story.

Twigling2026-01-02 22:56

Violet Evergarden (one season, one OVA/'Special' (which, chronologically, fits in between episodes 4 and 5) and two movies)

K-On!

Haibane Renmei

Clannad + Clannad After Story

Kanon

(for both of the above watch the Kyoto Animation productions, not those from Toei)

One piece isn't finished but it's only 1 season

Pretty sure they'll end it in 2nd season

Komarist2026-01-02 23:04

[See the "Complete Adaptations" menu near the top of the page.](https://wheredoestheanimeleaveoff.com/) It's split up by source type

Accomplished-Lab44122026-01-02 23:09

Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood

Fruits Basket (the most recent one. There’s also a movie after the series and I haven’t seen it yet but don’t look it up cause it’ll spoil things, but I heard it’s really good)

Durarara (the first season ends perfectly on its own. I never got into the 2nd season to know how that ends)

Attack on Titan

My Hero Academia (Idk if the anime finished yet but I started on anime and finished on manga, and last I heard, the anime was getting super close to the end, so it may or may not be done now)

Demon Slayer (another I started as anime and finished as manga. The anime is probably done by now though cause they were also getting super close to the end, last I heard)

Assassination Classroom

Tokyo Ghoul (warning though, somewhere in the middle of the series, it switches characters and then switches back. I remember being disappointed about that part but if I remember correctly, it was supposed to tie back together in the end and make some ending things make more sense, but it’s been awhile since I saw it, so I don’t fully remember)

Skate: The Infinity (there’s supposedly a 2nd season coming out but I think the first season finishes really well and is conclusive)

Bleach (warning: it’s long as hell and 1/3 of it is spoilers, but there’s a spoiler list online if you want to avoid them)

Naruto (same as above)

Madoka Magika (warning: don’t be fooled by how cutesy it looks)

nsheehan282026-01-02 23:13

Fairy Tail. It has an official sequel that is still being worked on tho.

SnowConvertible2026-01-02 23:27

* Hellsing Ultimate
* Steins:Gate
* Fruits Basket
* Samurai Champloo
* Agent Aika

come to mind.

affnn2026-01-02 23:33

If a solid conclusion is something you really want, you should consider anime originals rather than manga adaptations. A lot of adapted stuff goes on longer than it maybe should due to that industry’s needs.

Akiba Maid War, Odd Taxi, and Mawaru Penguindrum are some of my favorite anime originals. There’s lots of good ones out there (and a lot of duds, too, so watch out).

LivLouDesu2026-01-02 23:33

Vivy: Flourite Eyes Song. One season and amazing :)

If you like things that are a little depressing, orange is an interesting story. I recommend watching the movie as well afterwards, orange: the future. The movie is short (you can skip a lot of recap) and it’s on YouTube!

Icchan_2026-01-02 23:53

Because anime exists as a tool to sell more manga and merch. Not as a separate things. 98% of the time.
Manga and merch is how the money's actually made.
