RunningEarly2026-01-03 06:49

There's like a bunch more episodes and canon movies too tho

CosmicPenguin_OV1032026-01-03 07:46

[Just one more movie that continues the story directly though](https://anilist.co/anime/11981/--/) (which is also an absolute masterpiece too) - [then there's this that we hope we can get it right when it is out in February of freaking 2026!](https://anilist.co/anime/133007/-/)

Ac3snEights2026-01-03 00:49

Chainsaw man is 12 ep. And if u really enjoy it you can see the Reze arc movie on amazon, youtube etc

Ac3snEights2026-01-03 00:51

Also, Hells paradise is 12 ep. New season starts this month too. Trust me when I say you won't be disappointed. MAPPA Gold.

NicePumasKid2026-01-03 01:27

I watched hells paradise forever ago. Didn’t think there would ever be a season 2! Can’t wait!

It’s so good I can’t wait to see if there will ever be more

Cinoria2026-01-03 03:18

Light novels continue on but the anime has been a single 12 for a lot of years. Unlikely.

I think it’s fine though. It doesn’t drag on and get worse over time like some. It’s short and sweet and insanely good. As much as I hate that, it’s probably perfect this way.

Select-Profit-77252026-01-03 00:53

I'm would recommend Boku no kokoro no yabai yatsu but it has some subpar first two episodes

Ac3snEights2026-01-03 01:10

91 days is GOLD. Good taste

Bn23002026-01-03 02:02

I can't stress enough how much I love Terror in Resonance. I rarely think an anime can be a 10/10, but this is one of the few.

91 Days is also an amazing anime.

Both of these bring back so many memories, as they were part of the first animes I've ever seen, back in 2020.

duo99dusk2026-01-03 02:35

Astra 🖐️🧐🤚

Violet evergarden. It also has 2 movies but they are very optional

hanselion2026-01-03 22:46

These two are deffo a must watch.

Kerzic2026-01-03 01:02

Strictly 12 and done?

* Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches
* Astra Lost in Space
* Schwarzesmarken
* Zenshuu
* Hortensia Saga
* Just Because!
* Joran The Princess of Snow and Blood (stick with it past the really dark bits in the middle)
* Another
* Prison School (yeah, I was skeptical of this one, but it's very well plotted and written for what it is)

11 Episodes and done:

* Eden of The East
* Tokyo Magnitude 8.0

13 Episodes (and maybe a few more) and done:

* Tomo-chan Is a Girl!
* Myself; Yourself (dark mystery/romance)
* Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet (there are a handful of extra episodes after the main story but they don't add much)
* ReLIFE (there are 4 extra episodes that fill in some stuff from the manga left out, including a more satisfying ending)

Marcus-ichiJo2026-01-03 01:04

Yuru Camp season 1 and 2

Mokogorken2026-01-03 01:06

These are technically 13 episodes, not 12, but my favorite short anime series are Paranoia Agent, Baccano and Odd Taxi.

[Paranoia Agent](https://myanimelist.net/anime/323/Mousou_Dairinin) is a mystery and psychological horror from 2004 about a kid in a baseball hat assaulting victims with a golden bat. Each episode is from the perspective of either the victims are the police trying to solve the case. The show is very surreal and it's difficult to tell what is truly going on from the victims account.

[Baccano ](https://myanimelist.net/anime/2251/Baccano)is a character driven story from 2007 about what happened during the fictional train ride of the Flying Pussyfoot in 1931. This gathers a lot of characters together with different motivations and backgrounds with all hell breaking loose pretty early in the story. There's character accounts from 1930 and 1932 that fill in what's going on during this event, very cool story telling.

[Odd Taxi](https://myanimelist.net/anime/46102/Odd_Taxi) is a mystery from 2021 about a cab driver getting mixed up with various parts of the city. This one is best going in blind, so I'd prefer not to discuss the details but the way everything gets wrapped up is really something.

5iv3_2026-01-03 03:46

paranoia agent & baccano mentioned in 2026?!? you've got taste 🤭

Ac3snEights2026-01-03 01:07

Trigun Stampede has 12 ep. New season starts on the 10th of Jan too.

Secrets of the silent witch Has 13 ep. But I recommend it

Zombie land saga has 12 ep. (2 seasons total 24 episodes)

Zenshu was quite different from your typical isekai. 12 ep.

My Dress up Darling has 12 ep per season ( 2 seasons)

Nier Automata ver1.1a has 12 ep 2 seasons (it's not for everyone but I loved it)

Lycoris Recoil has 13 ep. Alot of people sleep on this one.

Freakjob_0032026-01-03 01:13

[Check out this list,](https://old.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1exqhw5/ranimes_favorite_one_cour_15_episodes_or_fewer/) some real bangers on there.

Darling in the franxx is one of my favourite animes. But it has 24 episodes

Undead Unluck also has more than 12 and is ongoing lol

randomnine2026-01-03 01:22

Ping Pong the Animation. It’s a school sports drama that wraps up in 11 episodes with a solid ending. Funky art and there’s really nothing else like it.

Angel Beats!

Chiptoon2026-01-03 09:39

theEvilQuesadilla2026-01-03 01:36

Assuming you want complete stories and not just unfinished anime, some of the below might be 11 or even 14 episodes long.

Astra Lost in Space

Black Rock Shooter

Flip Flappers

I Couldn't Become a Hero, So I Reluctantly Decided to Get a Job.

The Price of Smiles

Qualide Code

The Recovery of an MMO Junkie

The Too-Perfect Saint

Villainess Level 99: I May Be the Hidden Boss but I'm Not the Demon Lord

Zenshu

Flarz_Tiddies2026-01-03 01:52

I don't know about the rest, but the anime of Villainess Level 99 doesn't cover much of the series. Still amazing and highly recommend it though.

theEvilQuesadilla2026-01-03 02:22

YOU MEAN THERE'S MORE?!

Flarz_Tiddies2026-01-03 02:23

A lot more. To simplify it. If each part is a single season. There would be 6 seasons total so far.

duo99dusk2026-01-03 02:34

Kanata no Astra is a great recommendation, bravo.

Ok_Spell46942026-01-03 01:38

Milky Subway (only 40 mins long total)
Death Parade
Girls Band Cry
A Sign of Affection
Paranoia Agent (13 episodes long if that’s ok)

NeonNebula91782026-01-03 02:20

Trigun Stampede. 12 eps and getting another season very soon. Super stylish anime

duo99dusk2026-01-03 02:33

Apocalypse Hotel, to quote, "an original anime that can excel at anything between outrageous comedy and contemplative nostalgia"

Also, Romantic Killer.

Edit: And adding Kanata no Astra as many said in other comments, from the same author as Sket Dance and Witch Watch but selfcontained and an evolving plot

iRaceCar6272026-01-03 02:45

Ping Pong the Animation

The Tatami Galaxy

FLCL (original only)

Kaiba

These are all self-contained stories with no follow-up seasons and are all 12 or less episodes.

0bilo2026-01-03 02:45

Maybe hxh? It's not very long, work of art..

ProfessorMarth2026-01-03 02:57

Pluto: A somewhat-more grounded remaining of an Astro Boy arc by the same author as Monster and 20th Century Boys and has a throughline of exploring the question of humanity within the robots who live alongside humans in this world. It's an 8-episode ONA but the episodes are all roughly an hour long

91 Days: A gangster revenge story set during the American Prohibition. It's unique in that there's a lot of attention to detail to be period and place-accurate to this American setting, moreso than I've seen most anime accomplish. It's also not what you will expect it to be so go into it with an open mind. It's pretty depressing. 12 episodes+OVA

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 1: Another dark series, this one about the little people who work to survive under the oppressive corporate jungle of Night City. It's a great standalone piece that doesn't require any knowledge of the source material to enjoy and follow along. 10-episode ONA

Erased (someone else has mentioned it, but i still want to put it here)

Kyoukai no Kanata (idk why but I really liked this anime)

Takopi’s original Sin (very recent and kinda dark, but I like it. I was able to watch the entire series during a flight)

Zom 100 (just a lot of fun, not much to think about)

The world is still beautiful (don’t think I’ve recommended a romance, so here you go)

Twigling2026-01-03 11:11

Land of the Lustrous (Houseki no Kuni) - only adapts about the first 30 chapters of the now completed 108 chapter manga, but is still an incredible anime. You could of course pick up the manga to finish the story.
