I still dont know how i feel about this show.... I guess my favorite part was that it was yuri but I cant really think of anything else.
Hopefully it gets a season 2 though

I'm conflicted too, but I only think that's because it's an incomplete story. We don't get any actual resolution. I mean we do, kinda, but it comes with its own baggage and questions. I did enjoy the story, however difficult it was to watch.

Yea I hated how the mc was worse off at the end then at the beginning.

It left a strong impression on me just due to how unique it felt. Is that too hipster of me? The last show I can think of that actually centered its plot around themes of suicide and depression was Wonder Egg Priority. Shows like this don't come about very often.
I could sing praises about the characters too but really it was the oppressive somber and melancholic atmosphere that drew me in. All while having moments where it abruptly switches to silliness and comedy to ease the tension before delving back into serious dialogue again without missing a beat. The vibes were just outstanding to me.

tbh it doesn't feel much like yuri to me as this point. Shiori seems to view Hinako more like a pet.
on top of that I feel like this kind of story would work better anyway without some kind of romantic attachment being used as a reason to keep them alive, if that ends up being the author's intentions.
Quiddity1312026-01-03 17:29
The love Shiori has for Hinako clearly isn't romantic love, I'd say its more mother - daughter like. Or some sort of inversion of a human - pet relationship as you've said.
BosuW2026-01-03 18:15
Y'all bite your pets in the lips?
Quiddity1312026-01-03 18:34
Shiori isn't human and the show explains how they first met and where Shiori's affection for Hinako comes from. It is clearly not romantic in nature.
abandoned_idol2026-01-03 19:09
This is sounding very avant-garde to me (biting lips).
I really appreciate all the discussions/reviews here though.
BosuW2026-01-03 20:06
Their relationship is not alike anything you would expect from a traditional romance anime story but to say it not only isn't romantic, but that it's not also _erotic_ is to watch the show blind.
She isn't human but that doesn't mean you cannot understand the nature of her feelings. Even if you miss everything else, there is absolutely no reason to seal the pact on her side by bitting Hinako's lips specifically. Later she refers to it as "stealing a maiden's first kiss".
...also it's literally tagged Yuri.
theGRAYblanket2026-01-03 20:01
Id agree if you are only talking aboht the first half. But its clear it starts to change

I never thought about it as yuri in the classic sense. The story about dark thoughts, battling through depression, multiple characters being broken and luckily at least 1 supporting friend just overshadowed anything else. To me this is more close to Made in Abyss, or even to some parts of Berserk. The dread I was feeling was on that level.
Then you top it off with INCREDIBLE music score and (subjectively I guess) art that fits so much. I'm really glad I watched this.
Quiddity1312026-01-03 17:33
I don't view it as yuri, at least the Shiori - Hinako relationship. More like mother - daughter.
Agreed on the music, I love the song used in this scene and it has the best ending song of any anime from 2025 IMHO.
Shantotto112026-01-03 23:06
Feels less like a yuri, and more like a “girls only”.
theGRAYblanket2026-01-03 23:44
It is indeed a girl's love show and you see this later in the manga.
Thats another reason why I felt a bit conflicted too. It feels like not much happened towards the end and damn our girl was more depressed than when we started lol
pastaboxeater2026-01-03 23:12
same
The_Guyy122026-01-03 11:06
watatabe my beloved T-T
ClemFire2026-01-03 22:08
One of the best scenes of S1, and I am praying for another season
The_Guyy122026-01-07 14:35
We still don't have S2 of Yagakimi vro, tho I'm still hoping that watatabe will get another season
ClemFire2026-01-07 15:12
If Spice and Wolf can get renewed after 15 years then I believe we'll get Bloom into You S2 one day
The graphic is so nice, and characters have so much hair.
It is definetly different from "i isekai as swordman badass with harem". Even if there is harem of supernatural beeings (2 is small harem). But hero just wanting to die is something new.
"No longer allowed in another world" was also cool, although more tongue in cheek.
