The Fate series order?

Besides Zero, then stay night in that order (at least for me) is there any more order to the Fate series?

I'm starting it, I see there's **a** **lot** of it and the only chronological connection Google gives me is those first two 😂

Cool

UBW > HF > Zero > Fate (Deen)

The Illya series also has an order to it. Watch it in chronological release order. Some may say to watch the movie first but it is a retrospective story told by one of the characters to the others. While it can be watched first it spoils a lot reveals from the three prior seasons - just like Zero does.

Fate/Grand Order has differently named parts with no clear indication to the order, but there is one. First Order > Camelot > Babylonia > Solomon

All the other series can be watched separately in their own respective orders. Doesn't matter which series you watch in what order as long as you watch the Stay Night + Zero series first.

Playest_42472026-01-03 09:23

My understanding is that with the exception of zero all the fate things are unconnected au type things.

TheRedd_Reign2026-01-03 09:24

Au?

Playest_42472026-01-03 09:25

Alternate universe.

Kind of like how every 5 years they make a new Gundam thing that has a Gundam in it's a fresh continuity.

TheRedd_Reign2026-01-03 09:27

Ah, interesting. But it looks like they all have that same blonde girl with a blue dress, does she hop universes? 😂 Or just travel?

Playest_42472026-01-03 09:29

Saber is the mascot. Just like every Gundam has a white robot every fate has a blonde King Arthur waifu.

But I don't think they're intended to share memories or consciousness or anything

TheRedd_Reign2026-01-03 09:31

Ah, also very interesting.

TheRedd_Reign2026-01-03 09:30

Every time I see that blonde girl ik it's fate, spinning up in the air with her great sword.

So, the original story is a video game with three timelines that are played one after the other, and whose plot and themes build off each other. Shortly after that, a prequel novel series was made and set 10 years before the video game.

Following the release order of the source material is:

* Fate/stay night (2006) - not the best adaptation, which is why some people skip it
* Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works (2014)
* Fate/stay night: Heaven's Feel Movie Trilogy
* Fate/Zero

After that you can pretty much pick whatever spin-off looks interesting. Although some, like Fate/Grand Order, have their own dedicated watch order as well. But it's best to start with the above.

So, there's two things here

A. Every Saber you see is not necessarily the same Saber (Artoria/Altria). There are "Saberfaces" which share her face cuz thats how the original artist drew and the franchise has learned into it, but most are of the Saber CLASS. Apocrypha has both Ruler (wields a fkaga and wears purple) and Saber of Red (who wears red and silver armor), and Extra has Red Saber (who wears a red dress) which are usually who you see. OG Saber, who wears blue or black, is the same in Zero and FSN/UBW/HF.

B. The warriors in this world, Servants, are historical figures pulled from beyond time, so they are both very capable of being summoned into different timelines, and sometimes remembering those other timelines, but they can also have different versions of them appear who may look different, have altered personalities, or be entire other classes- example being Jack the Ripper, who appears as both the pants-less loli Assassin of Black in Apocrypha and the bodiless shapeshifter Berserker in Strange Fake.

I was looking for someone to post Gigg UK Arizona video.

Affectionate-Can-2312026-01-03 09:39

Skip allat and just watch Stange Fake dude everything else is different universes and singularities and spin offs and it can be overwhelming I’d come back to it after this winter season bcz it’s STACKED. Stange Fake is more or less a reset for the series so you’ll understand 99% of what’s going on without any prior knowledge I’d start there and go backwards. Episode 3 comes out tdy.

TheRedd_Reign2026-01-03 09:49

That's the exact opposite of what I like to do, I like all the info. I mean I just started the first episode of stay night and there's summoning, there's cards, symbols on hands, I feel like that stuff is going to be explained earlier not later.

Any-Atmosphere-79232026-01-03 09:47

First thing you watch is 2 season of fate/zero(this is a prequel)

Then you can watch either

1.)Fate Stay Night(Studio Deen)(26 eps)(Saber route)
2.)Fate stay night Unlimited blade works(ufotable)(24 to 26 eps idr now)
3.)Fate Stay Heavens feels movie(3 movies)

The below 3 points mentioned are an adaptation of game in which you have to choose one among three charecters as love interest of the mc and different stories unfolds involving same/similar charecters

This is pretty much all you need to watch

If you want to watch heavens feels movies first watch ubw cause intial few episode content in same across all three routes which has been skipped in heavens feels.

n080dy1232026-01-03 09:50

Fate doesn't really have a watch order because almost none of it is in the same chronological timeline. It has a sort of central "bubble," the FGO timeline, and the rest of standalone.

You have the Unlimited Blade Works series (ignore the UBW movie, it's the same thing but worse), Heavens Feel movies, and sort of 2006 Fate Stay Night series which are 3 routes of the Fate Stay Night VN (FSN 2006 is kind of a mix of all 3, it's not very good and very skippable). And then you have the prequel, Fate/Zero. You can also sorta fit Case Files of El Melloi in here as a sequel/spinoff of Fate/Zero. There is a bit of a watch order here- either watch F/Z, then UBW, then HF, or UBW, HF, then Zero. Zero first is popular and it's fine, and don't let anyone tell you different, just don't watch HF first. FSN can be wherever if you choose to watch it. Case Files after them all of you want.

Then you have the Fate/Grand Order timeline which is chronological- First Order OVA, Camelot movies, Babylonia series, and Solomon movie, but between First Order and Camelot is most of the plot of the FGO game it's adapting so there's a big gap.

The rest is all entirely standalone timelines- most of them lightly reference Fate/Zero, but it technically didn't happen the same way in those timelines. This includes Fate/Apocrypha, Fate/Strange Fake (which starts airing later today, and feels like a spiritual sequel to Case Files), Fate/Extra Last Encore (a stealth sequel for the Fate/Extra games, not very good as a standalone anime, skippable), and Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya (a magical girl spinoff, has some worthless parts in 2wei Herz but better than it has any right to be and low-key fire from 3rei onwards).

Also the Tsukihime anime that doesn't exist, Garden of Sinners movies, and upcoming Witch on the Holy Night movie are technically all in the same universe, but their own timelines, but focus in entirely different aspects of the setting because fuck you for trying to make sense of the Nasuverse.

Btw this is the fight scene that finally made me jump into the series.
