Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity

A fragrant flower blooms with dignity is on Netflix and is a great romantic anime (tho there is alot of apologising for some reason).
ActualRound76992026-01-03 14:18
I just took it as awkward and shy kids exploring big feelings they weren’t used to honestly.
Brilliant-Pomelo-1652026-01-03 14:20
Yeah I got that but there was alot of it at timesto where it felt excessive. It was a lovely story though very romeo and juliet

I wonder if Ranma 1/2 counts as romance there is an arranged marriage 😂

Most Rumiko Takahashi series are comedy-first, romance-second.
Ranma is in that camp and the romance progresses at a glacial pace as a result.
Her only romance-first series is Maison Ikkoku and it's a masterpiece, but it's also not available legally to stream anywhere.

You'll have to check which of these are on Netflix, because I don't know (it may also depend on the country), but hope this helps:
All the romance anime, or with important romance subplots, I have watched so far, roughly in order from most to least favorite (part 1):
Cardcaptor Sakura (10/10) - Not a pure romance, but one of the cutest love stories ever, by the end the main romance is arguebly even more important than the other plot. The main romance takes its time to develop though.
Kimagure Orange Road (10/10) - A classic 80's romcom about a love triangle, and it has one of the earliest (and in my opinion greatest and most nuanced) tsundere love interests in anime.
Your Lie in April (10/10) - a very tragic but extremely beautiful love story between two teenage musicians. Will make you cry.
The Apothecary Diaries (10/10) - the romance is not the main focus for most of the anime, but in the moments it gets the spotlight, it's great and the whole series is so peak, with mystery, political intreague and historically inspired fiction.
Princess Tutu (10/10) - a very unorthodox magical girl anime, with a ballet theme and a lot of meta-commentary on story telling. The feelings of romantic love are what drives the plot, but the actual romance, while it is still there, is not a big focus.
Madoka Magica (10/10) - a darker take on the magical girl genre. Just like in Princess Tutu, the romantic feelings are quite important to the plot, but there's almost 0 actual romance, so I am hesitating if I should include this one. Still, a truly great anime.
Teasing Master Takagi-san (9,5/10) - one of the most wholesome and cutest but at the same time funniest romcoms ever made. It is quite episodic, with a lot of episodes being divided into short stories, but most of the independent episodes are somewhat connected and there's a sense of progress and development despite the episodic nature of the show.
Clannad (9,5/10) - starts as a fairly typical high-school harem romance with some fantasy/paranormal elements, but by the sequel, After Story, the main couple gets together and we get to see the struggles and challenges of a young adult couple, and stuff happens that will make you cry.
Love, Chubibyo and other delusions (9/10) - A very cute and funny romcom with some drama in it. A high school student who wants to get over his middle-school obsession for acting-up like an action anime character, meets a classmate that is very much living fully in her own imaginary world. It's a great story about the push and pull between wanting to grow up, but not letting go of your child-like imagination, and the main couple's relationship is adorable.
Your Name (9/10): a great anime movie where the romance is central to the plot.
Steins; Gate (9/10): another in a similar place to Princess Tutu and Madoka Magica, it has a bit of romance, but mainly, the romantic feelings drive the plot forward.
The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten (8,5/10) - together with Takagi-san, one of the most diabetic romances I've ever seen, but with less comedy, more of a pure romance, and I love it for that. And, while we are going to get a season 2 next year, this one reaches a very satifying conclusion in the 1st season with just 12 episodes.
Izetta: The Last Witch (8,5/10): a more military/political take on the magical girl genre where the yuri romance is somewhat important to the plot.
Fruits Basket: (8/10): a romance anime that may look like a reverse harem, but actually is more of a love triangle.
Ai Yori Aoshi (8/10) - a harem where the main couple gets together very early, but has to keep their relationship a secret, thus giving space for the harem situation to develop. If you want the trope of a perfect traditional japanese wife, I haven't come across a better example than the main girl in this anime, but she still has a fairly interesting and headstrong personality. The second season doesn't give us a satisfying conclusion, which is regrettable, but along the way there's still quite some progress with the main couple. In my opinion, there are many similarities to Love Hina in the way it handles the harem aspects, but I do prefer Ai Yori Aoshi, since it has a slightly more serious tone while still being a harem romcom.

Part 2:
Rose of Versailles (8/10): a historical drama with lots of courtly intrigue and several important romance subplots, most of which end tragically.
Revolutionary Girl Utena (8/10): a very surrealistic and symbolic anime with lots of messy romance subplots, a strange reverse harem not centered on the protagonist, and a yuri main romance.
Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian (7,5/10): a romcom with a pretty fun premise and a very genre-aware humor, and overt fan-service without being ecchi, it is almost a harem, but with a very clear main romance. It has two main plots, the romance and the school council election, and I personally felt like the first season, while getting some progress in both, it wasn't enough for a satisfying season. Hoping to get more from Season 2, since it was a very wild and entertaining watch.
Skip and Loafer (7,5/10): a tame but sweet slice of life with important romance. Not extremely exciting, but for a chill, relaxed watch, still a very nice romance.
Love Hina (7,5/10): a classic harem where the protagonist tries to find a childhood crush to fulfill a promise to go to university together.
Anohana (7,5/10): a short and somewhat tragic story about going through grief for a lost one. There's some romance aspect to it.
Inuyasha (7,5/10, provisional score, currently watching): a classical isekai battle-shonen, but with a very important romance subplot, including a sort of love triangle.
Fushigi Yuugi (7/10): an isekai adventure reverse harem anime with very prominent romance. The levels of teenage girl romance drama are very high, though, so you have to get into the right mindset to watch it without cringing, but still, a classic on its own right.
Mother of the Goddess Dormitory (7/10): Extreme amounts of ecchi fan service, and a very questionable age-gap (but with the male protagonist being the youngest). Still, if you are able to forget about the age gap, and enjoy the ecchi fan service, it is not a bad harem romance, the interactions between the characters are actually quite sweet.
Kaitou Saint Tail (6,5/10): a magical thief anime that has a lot of robin-hood esque themes, not so much stealing from the rich to give to the poor, but stealing to give it back to the rightful or moral owner. The romance plays a somewhat important part in the anime, but the problem I have with it is that it is too episodic, with very few exceptions, most episodes could be watched in a random order without it really being a problem.
School Days (6/10): one of the most hated romance animes ever, I think. And I get why: it is what would happen if protagonist who is a bad person with 0 redeeming qualities and no redemption arc got a harem of girls, who are, to varying degrees, bad people themselves. It is an uncomfortable watch, but because I believe that was the intention of the anime, I still give it some credit for achieving the goal of making the watcher uncomfortable.
