I need a peak show please

I just finished Gurren Lagann, and now I need another show to watch that's as good as Gurren Lagann to fill the emptiness inside of me after finishing that absolute peakness. I don't care what the genre is or how many episodes it has, as long as it's peak fiction

BloodyBlazev22026-01-03 18:54

Vinland Saga, Evangelion.

thegamerhpxp2026-01-03 18:57

Vinland Saga is absolute cinema 🙌

Dry-District9372026-01-03 18:55

Monster or Pluto by the same author Naoki Urusawa some brilliant twists in both of them and deeply thought provoking, if I had to pick one maybe Pluto since it’s only 8 eps whereas monster is like 74 I believe

kianator42026-01-03 19:27

don't watch hunter x hunter or steins gate, they're shit

Eco-Errantecosmico2026-01-03 19:39

This ignorant person makes me angry. Probably someone with a mental deficiency, or maybe someone who only likes tits and asses. HxH and Steins;Gate are good works.

Srapture2026-01-04 04:08

I gave Hunter x Hunter a really solid go (inb4 "stick it out until xyz arc!") and I really think nostalgia is the only reason people treat it like it's super different to the other large shounen anime of its kind. I expected a masterpiece from the way people talk about it.

Steins;Gate, however... That shit slaps. You gotta at least admit it's unique.

kaushik04082026-01-04 04:25

Those initial calm episodes of Steins gates are peak. Cause when gas hits the pedal it's a nonstop thrill ride

MyMumDroppedMe2026-01-04 09:50

Learn how to present an analysis of what you don't like about a work of art instead of smearing shit on it like a monkey.

Crazed_Ideas_Man2026-01-03 18:59

The original Legend of the Galactic Heroes is absolutely peak anime

timpkmn892026-01-03 19:01

the movie versions of Gurren Lagann, with extended fight scenes

Fragraham2026-01-03 20:04

And it goes EVEN BIGGER.

Proof-Revolution-982026-01-03 19:01

Made in abyss, very strong worldbuilding and plot

MyMumDroppedMe2026-01-04 09:52

Amazing series OP

jollyjimmyy2026-01-04 10:13

This show is so amazing and the music is out of this world. I love tons of anime soundtracks but there aren't many that I put even close to MiA's soundtrack.

Edit: And if you do decide to watch it make sure you watch the movie (Dawn of the Deep Soul) after you finish season 1!

Playest_42472026-01-03 19:02

One punch man season 1

Let's add Great Teacher Onizuka cuz all the best shows start with G

Durinthal2026-01-03 19:05

[Yama no Susume](https://www.livechart.me/anime/897) is the most peak anime I've seen.

[](#teehee "Or at least the most peaks I've seen climbed in an anime.")

darkice172026-01-03 19:08

Why has nobody said kill la kill, literally the most similar show with the same style.

Latter-Mongoose55642026-01-03 19:16

People are probably afraid to recommend even an ecchi adjacent show due to some not liking fanservice.

cookingboy2026-01-03 19:32

Well at least that show dose equal opportunity fan-service for both genders lol

landragoran2026-01-03 21:08

Adjacent. In the same way that the White House is "adjacent" to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

fubes20002026-01-03 22:05

If they didn't like fan service they wouldn't have liked Gurren Lagann in the first place.

cross ange. make sure to watch at least 2 eps. cheers

Significant-Tree47522026-01-03 19:10

I would recommend watching kill la kill

both kill la kill and gurren lagann were directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi.

Away-Meet35922026-01-03 19:10

Gurren Laggan was amazing. Id say Angel Beats. But theres a bunch of great shows thatll fill that void. Cyberpunk Edgerunners. Long runners are Attack on Titan. Cowboy Bebop. Im gonna read this list of comments and watch some.

frodoftheshire72026-01-03 19:10

Neon Genesis Evangelion, Mob psycho 100, Vinland Saga, Gunbuster, Delicious in Dungeon

Kill La Kill.

Same studio that made Gurren Lagan.

PartyLook94232026-01-03 19:19

Da Dan Da <--- Super good and entertaining

Santa on Amazon Prime was good, the first season just finished

Jujutsu Kaisan

Demon Slayer

Chainsaw Man

Solo Leveling

The Unwanted Undead Adventurer

Hell's Paradise

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation

Some people might think these are overrated, but they good. If you aren't super familiar with anime movies, Spirited Away, and Howl's Moving Castle are classics that will never get old. I found Your Name to be a good movie; had me like 😭at the end.

If you want literal "peak" fiction, there is always [_Yama to Susume_](https://myanimelist.net/anime/14355/Yama_no_Susume). It is all about mountain climbing/hiking! Can't get more peak than that.

hasank19072026-01-03 19:20

Kill la kill is peak of the peaks. Also, humor is similar to gurren lagan.Tsugumomo is another goated anime. You can do lots of mistakes in life, but missing these two are not part of them, they should not be.You might forgot your name someday, but you must not forgot to watch these two.Especially kill la kill

CdnTarget2026-01-03 19:22

Madoka Magica

MaloraKeikaku2026-01-03 19:23

I'll second hajime no ippo. Yes It it sports but give it like 5 episodes and youll love it if you are into hype stuff

Jahn2026-01-03 19:24

Gunbuster

McLovett3252026-01-03 19:24

Did you watch the second Gurren Lagann movie Lagann-hen?

Because if you haven't then watch that movie, it's a compilation of the second half of the movie with some extended scenes, and it extends the final fight by I think it was like 12 minutes?

Kikuruchi2026-01-03 19:39

Id recommend watching anything else from gainax and trigger (the studio that people who left gainax made), as well as khara

My personal favorites would be SSSS. Gridman and it's sequels, kill la kill, and Promare

I also recommend anything from cygames rn too. I know umamusume is the big thing rn but don't sleep on akiba maid war, zombie land saga, bravern, and apocalypse hotel. All of them are "comedy", but they're also wonderfully crafted shows with tons of love

TheYellowChicken2026-01-03 19:42

Gintama

LegendaryZXT2026-01-03 20:03

Kill La Kill and Promare are the same director, writer, character designer, and composer.

Illustrious_Arm_7322026-01-03 21:00

I would also say ID INVADED and PSYCHO-PASS the others already said them for me ahah

WorldlinessUnusual452026-01-03 21:12

Tomorrow Joe, Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans, Dororo, Texhnolyze, Monogatari, Rainbow, Darker than Black, Tekkaman Blade, Devilman Crybaby, Hunter x Hunter, Hajime no Ippo, Steins Gate, Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop, Mob psycho 100, Gintama, Hinamatsuri, Azumanga Daioh, Bocchi the rock, Grand Blue

ResolutionMassive1752026-01-03 21:13

Hunter Hunter is goated
Saiki K is goated

The_Freshmaker2026-01-03 22:45

I also watched Gurren Lagann this year, if you can find a show more peak let me know but got dang I have never seen a ramp up like that before, just astoundingly good how that arc evolved.
