Out of all the shounen I've watched this is the show where the mc faces the largest consequence due to the overuse of his abilities. It's quite inspirational even if it does get undone.
As for your question, he doesn't directly lose for a while, but those fights are primarily won because of the mc's support. For a large chunk of the story they don't directly beat villains themselves and only "beat" the villains because someone else finishes up for them.
