- [the lack of the SOBRIGHT joke perhaps hints at shit being real now ](https://imgur.com/oQ1ru8p)

- I will miss this season being relatively carefree with the transformationgs.

- [These little shits hahahaha](https://imgur.com/sUIelhB)

- Kokoro's ahoge is its own living creature. I love it. [My fav is when it went infinity.](https://imgur.com/XoTgjc9)

- [If this holds, its nice we're getting that conversation out nice and early rather than the inevitable sad moment int he penultimate/final episode.](https://imgur.com/zpQE0l1) UNLESS

- They spiced up the action a good bit already, with both stock footage attacks being non-standard. [both](https://imgur.com/Zs92dot) were [great](https://imgur.com/pL99I1s), idol fist touch basically being a complete re-animation of the usual stock attack, and the fight itself had some good cuts and made good use of the MOTW's drawback. nice.

- Looking forward to Kazuma's assistance with the climactic arc!

Alright, first of the last four episodes if the count I'm seeing is correct, surely this is where the final arc starts.

I had forgotten we left off before Christmas with fairyland under attack and all the fairies just living under the peach shield.

Maybe instead of the last arc we're doing a New Year's episode this time, but I feel like it's going to get interrupted.

Kokoro's ahoge putting in a lot of work today, lots of funny expressions too.

The tree getting corrupted and sucking in more dark energy from the worrying crowd does feel like the start of the final arc like I'm expecting. And then the tree itself is the monster of the week this time around, that's harsh.

Kind of a poor job of dealing with the siege problem in the other world, just ignore it and hope nothing goes further wrong which of course it eventually did.

With Kaito and Kazuma around I wonder if we'll get one or both of them as pretty boy cures to assist.

pretty opening. i liked the the reflections of the petals in uta's eyes and the her head movements when she was singing.

cutty cut the tako-san wieners? no way

every episode with the queen is a good episode but i'm disappointed we didn't get a PIKARIIIIIIINE this episode. i guess kirakiland follows the same calendar as hanamichi town?

we didn't get kenjiro tsuda voicing kyutaro yawning either smh

when they were first showing the people taking pictures of the heart tree, i was amused by the dog's disappointed face.

cure kyun kyun dodging the darkranda vines/roots was cool and idol fist touch looked extra cool this time, particularly with that angle showing cure idol's windup and that trail of hearts (those impact frames make me wonder if yuu yoshiyama was working on this episode?)

i liked the bookending of the episode with the flower petals.

We are back after last week’s break and we’ve got our New Year’s episode! Nice mix of tradition and plot advancement here, I still feel like they waited way too long to really get the story going, cautiously optimistic the last few episodes will pull everything together satisfactorily, but it’s definitely crunch time.

Uta’s Hatsuhinode scene is so beautiful. One of the prettiest looking in this season. Nothing like greeting the first sunrise of the new year!

Tanaka playing a prank on the girls during their new year party was a nice change of pace for the girls after the whirlwind of the last few weeks, glad they got to try a bunch of food, improved their moods and it helped boost their PR so win win. He’s such a sweetheart lol.

Oh so we’re still doing the Uta x Kaito gimmick… Please leave that man alone he is gay af, let him be happy with his childhood friend. On the flip side, that did give us a cute sleepover for the girls! Seeing them try coffee and think it was bitter was so real because lord knows I’ll never understand the appeal of coffee.

Darkine’s finally made her move and attacked the town directly. This week’s fight looked really good, Idol’s idol punch finisher never fails to get me hype, but I’m also really curious to see how they’ll stop Darkine and the new Chokkrine in the last few eps! Hoping they’ve got some cool tricks up their sleeves!

You can say what you want about the rest of the show, but at the very least the animation for You and Idol has been really strong, probably the best-looking non-anniversary series since at least Go Princess if not earlier. It’s not just the fights either, the animation during the slice of life stuff has also been pretty great.

Two of this episode’s animation directors were the same as the ones that worked on the detective episode, which I felt was one of the funner ones in terms of animation. Hikaru Koga got his start in Wonderful and Yuuki Kitajima started in DePa, so they’re both relatively new. Sayuri Ehara also made their animation directing debut this episode as well. I hope all 3 stick with Precure longer-term as I their two most recent episodes were very fun.

Definitely a calm before the storm episode especially in the first half, one that was pretty solid even beyond the strong animation. It seems the final 3 episodes are probably going to be confront/save Chokkirine, then confront/redeem Darkine, then the final episode will be an epilogue. Seems like it could be interesting, we’ll see how it plays out.

Lastly, my final big prediction is that either Chokkirine or Darkine are basically the previous version of Meroron, meaning they were also a creature of darkness created when some other dark creature tried to take over the world. Also good chance Darkine and Pikarine used to be friends and will end up reconciling by the end of the series.

- Maybe it's due to 2 weeks away but the Pre-OP part was more impressive than the show usually looks? But only Uta to see the first sunrise, I guess Hanamichi Town doesn't go for that tradition. Then the ep went on and [production levels were pretty high](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/2602a30c562e.jpg).

- ["Precure why don't you transform"](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/51e4154fab02.jpg) is certainly one angle to have Purirun and Meroron eating in human form.

- [It's the Precure equivalent](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/92602cfdd14f.jpg) of [this comment face **...wait a sec, that's also from Precure.**](#thatsmyfetish)

- Has Precure ever explained the meaning/wordplay behind the [osechi](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/244a6d4cecbf.jpg)? (if you're unfamiliar [look it up](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osechi#Examples_of_osechi_dishes)...or other resources) Alas the ep was a bit busy for that and just having the food there could be enough for viewer (parent + child) interaction.

- Speaking of interaction stuff, was probably a good thing they showed [Uta failing to drink coffee](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/16b440f9e067.jpg) as it shows it's okay not to if you're young and there's other options for a late night.

- [This sort of thing happening in the monster of the week](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/fef83d67fa5b.jpg) used to be (well...21 years ago) more common than I'd like. At least [Kyun-Kyun Laser had a chance to come in clutch](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/81d4d235b6f4.jpg).

- ~~Is this the first time we've [seen Hanamichi Town from above?](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/4ccf67112b04.jpg)~~ Actually no...[that was episode 1](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/1cd91fbf3d8f.jpg) (thanks, wiki contributors) and erm the port or bridge at the top-left (North-West?) has gone missing? Aside from that makes sense it's a town as it doesn't seem that big (or the train station is massive).

It has happened a few years ago in Bofuri Season 2 as well (with me feeling it was there just because another section of the episode featuring it involved another girl being attacked by an octopus).

Ooh a new year episode.

And of course she's doing her song again.

And so the queen is invited too.

Ok...

Lol they just skipped the transformation sequence.

Ok...

Oh she's wearing the scarf from Kaito.

And so, a sleepover.

Hasn't Kirakiland _already_ been saved a few episodes ago?

Huh. Uh oh. What happened?

I suppose with the show wrapping up in 3 episodes things are escalating.

And that's why they didn't have the transformation sequence earlier, they were saving it for now.

Well, they're all a bit tied up at the moment.

That works.

Yeah the situation has _definitely_ escalated.
