Honestly doesn't even have to be anime. Can be whatevery media, books, LNs, mangas, movies, shows whatever. Only other one I've ever read is Narnia lol.
Hi WackyRedWizard, it seems like you might be looking for new anime to watch!
The users of this subreddit came up with [a chart of anime recommendations for newcomers and veterans](https://i.redd.it/0w1v880jtq661.png) and [an awesome longer flowchart](https://i.redd.it/vdzlkodz19c71.png). Maybe you can find something there that you'll like \^.\^

I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World and Became Unrivaled in the Real World, Too
And you're on an anime sub, so anime recs are what you should be asking for and expecting.
WackyRedWizard2026-01-04 05:10
I know I'm just open to non anime reccs
AppleDemolisher562026-01-04 05:21

Seriously though . Are they ever bringing out another season?. GATE was sooo good.
MusubiKazesaru2026-01-04 05:11
We're getting another season but I think it might be spinoff-like.
Xx420EdgeLord69xX2026-01-04 06:00
It is. Season 2 of the GATE anime had an anime original ending that contradicted the light novels in some ways, and jumped way ahead in the story in others, so the only way to really do a third season to the original would be to retcon the last couple episodes of season 2 entirely. The new GATE anime coming out is based on the naval spinoff with an entirely new cast, but set in the same universe.
Villag3Idiot2026-01-04 05:13
No idea.
It's one of those rare LNs that actually received a full manga adaptation and not just end part way so it must be really popular.
It's good enough that they're adapting the sequel LN series that I think is stalked atm.
WackyRedWizard2026-01-04 05:14
Wait there's a gate manga that's finished? Is it translated?
Villag3Idiot2026-01-04 05:52
Yup, fully finished and fully translated.
N7CombatWombat2026-01-04 05:16
It is getting one, but it's skipping like five books and starting over with a completely new cast, mission and armed forces branch. This one is navy based.
Tryukach092026-01-04 05:39
we are, thought its about completely another cast of characters some years later

Saving 80,000 Gold in Another World
A fun light novel series is After School Dungeon Diver, I like it because the MC just doesn't care about anything. He takes friends from the fantasy world on day trips to Tokyo, he kills giant eyeball monsters with pepper spray, it's great. There's even a part where he does a favor for an incredibly sketchy and probably evil witch because she lets him feel her up in return.

Came to say this.

If you want to read a book, The Inheritance by Ilona Andrews. I think they were inspired by Solo Leveling, which I watched some of, then bounced off of, so that anime's a possibility too (it's very popular, I just tend to bounce off super popular things sometimes).

Not an anime...but a manga....Nihonkoku Shoukan....it is like Gate but in this one Japan bring on their full might instead of using their outdated equipment
I've already responded to this post, so I'm not sure how it ended up on my feed with a completely different set of responses.
Here was my original response:
- Sword Art Online - from season 2 (with GGO) onward, including Alicization and SAO Alternative: GGO
- Stargate: SG-1, Atlantis, Universe, and Origins (all regular American tv shows)
- Rick and Morty (American animation)
- {Saving 80,000 Gold in Another World for My Retirement}
- {Solo Leveling}
- {I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World and Became Unrivaled in The Real World, Too}
- Literally anything involving FTL travel, which implies detachment from reality of origin 🤷
But I do understand the original request of "characters can voluntarily transport themselves to vastly different worlds in an instant", for which "low tier" would be 'Star Trek' and "high tier" would be 'Rick and Morty'.
I would also recommend various "anthology" series, such as:
- Black Mirror
- Love, Death and Robots
- Dust Collection
- Secret Level
- Oats Studios
- Electric Dreams
- Tales from the Loop
