It got so popular that the author ended up writing more and the next volumes have more ongoing story arcs instead of just a collection of short stories.

Since they teased *that* character at the end of the trailer (the same one who showed up in the original series' stinger in fact), it looks like they're hinting that they'll be adapting the events of Volume 4 of the LN (the new character in question has a big role to play in it), which is a big arc all on its own and is the least episodic of the novels so far, making it the perfect story to turn into a movie unlike the other volumes.

I watched the series back when it aired and I liked it a fair bit but didn't really think about it much after it finished airing. Wasn't until collecting figures caught my interest a few years back that I saw a few of her and the obsession caught on. Her and a Miku figure were the first two I ever brought.
Oh yeah, I do like that one. Have had my eye out for it for a while, I like the recolour version with the white sweater/red skirt personally.

She's definitely not a psychopath, but she's undoubtedly a sociopath who does a lot of bad stuff on her journey (especially in the background, out of the reader's sight), such as scamming, deceiving, forcing, torturing, intimidating, blaspheming, etc. She also has one interesting trait of being a *bigger* villain than the "villains" themselves (unless they are True Villains, of course), which is even one of the series' gags that is very random.

Needless to say, this activity naturally caused losses for the casino owner due to customer attrition, forcing him to seek help from a highly respected woman with royal family ties—**Riviere herself**—who, with her own cunning/card-sharp skills, finally stopped Elaina by quickly turning the tables on her with a "jail or quit" ultimatum.

"*The Devil*" was what the girl thought of Elaina, and this isn't the first time strangers have called Elaina that btw. It gets especially ironic when the so-called villains themselves call her "*the Devil*." 💀
So is she a bad person? Undoubtedly.
So is she a terrible person? **No**, absolutely not. This series has much worse individuals than Elaina... **frighteningly worse**(Elaina's world dark asf*). Elaina? She's just the lesser “evil” in this twisted grand scheme. And yet, paradoxically, she's one of the most mentally mature characters in the series at the same time
Yes, and I remember people were angry that she is not heroic, and has a tendency to ignore suffering.
