Like the 'relatively slow progress' with this, so far. It seems he's not seeing color literally, but rather just the associating pigmentation with his magic.
Can't wait for the next epi- god damn double premieres. At least i noticed this one straight away.
I once started an episode of mushoku tensei. The first scene of the episode was them having a test-fight with magic to test whether he could really use magic without needing to say the spell out loud. It was completely silent. My first thought was it was deliberate, that part of the test was that they'd used magic to mute sound to prevent voiced incantations, and i thought going full silence for the scene was kind of a cool choice and it really worked well. Then the mock-fight ended and it stayed silent and i realized i had the mute button turned on and I'm a moron.
half way thru the episode, at a scene transition, it went black&white, and i thought it was just the art style
then after several minutes, it didnt go back....
the phone had gone into night mode, and turned the colors off automatically!
[Out of Sight](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qCbiCxBd2M) had a great representation of what the world might feel like to a blind girl.
So annoying when they have an attitude scumbags aren't that bad.
The moment she dropped his hand an complained at the slightest problem u know the anime is gonna be trash and he's probably still gonna marry her and let the maid who loves him be a spinster what trash how does this garbage keep making it to anime
Kunon deserves my applause.
Iko is a classic caring maid, although one of her reasons is money, but she does her job.
I felt sorry for Jenie, teaching someone something and having them learn it instantly is basically a representation of real life lol.
And Mirika surprised me, I expected her to be bitter, but she just wanted to spend quality time with Kunon.
This show really seems innovative.
The father's reaction at the end was unreasonable, I have no idea why Iko got punished, but the way he was scolding him for something he can't even see made no sense to me.
The weirdest thing is that he never cared about what he ate. Like dude, that's one thing where your lack of sight is almost completely irrelevant, there's no reason you should be passionless about taste and smell just because you can't see.
It just doesn't seem like good character writing to me, but I enjoyed the second episode more, and I'll probably stick with it for at least a few more episodes.
I'm mentally filing it away as blind + depressed + infantilised to all hell + extremely autistic but it still feels really weird to me that this was how they chose to characterise them.
That's not how you walk with a blind person.
She used to be depressed too, due to how hard it was being a small blind girl.
But she eventually stumbled upon the moles (I forgot the original earth bender animal name) and they taught her how to utilize seismic sense.
Which is how the moles live there lives , since like there irl counterparts, they have terrible eye sight [or maybe they were blind too].
So when she ran away and hid, and in the cave she had hidden in she met the badger moles that went on to teach her.
Now she certainly dialed up being a gremlin after that, but we really don't have any reason to believe she "suffered" blindness in the same way this anime MC did, who appears unable to navigate his own home without having a direct support at all times.
I guess it's just due to his depression before finding magic. His idea of creating an eyeball? Idk think it would be easier to use magic to increase his senses to everything around him.
I am curious why a family with that much money didn’t bother hiring an actual master magician to teach their child. Having Jenié be this flustered over him learning “the basics” quickly, is more of an indication of her lack of knowledge than his mastery of anything at this point.
Some master magicians no matter the cash don’t want to waste their time. Others want easy money
I’m not surprised at all. It’s pretty indicative of irl minus the blind aspect didn’t seem to make sense logically
Fair point on the master / money point.
If you want to learn more about what it's like to be blind, check out [Tommy Edison](https://www.youtube.com/@TommyEdisonXP/featured), he's a pretty cool youtuber!
And i'm curious to see what he does with his water magic to reach his goal of making his own eyes.
Dude got lucky with a cute princess fiancé but can't even see the cuteness for himself in the traditional way. Maybe that'll work out with the magic senses he's developing.
Ok so he can somehow now see using a water ball? Does he have to cast that everytime???

But perhaps he could have had a very thin layer of water on his finger?

They did well with the side characters, like having Iko be very bizarre and quirky and having Jenie scared that she will lose a cushy well paying job because her student is too advanced, which is a story I don't think I've seen in anime before. Kunon is also a really interesting character, very mature and smart for his age. It's really unusual for a 7 year old to be so focused on things like gaining physical strength and being a good husband in the future.
I laughed out loud at a lot of the humor, like the red water bubble spilling on Kunon and Iko and the mom thinking it was blood. The dad acted like an asshole though, yelling at them and threatening to dock Iko's pay although it was more likely just a temper tantrum in the moment :P
I also don't think it was wise for Iko to ask Kunon to make a giant bubble of hot water for her. He's blind and could have accidentally made the bubble around her face and it would horribly scald her.
Anyway, I am a guy who typically enjoys anything as long as it has no plot that is too absurd or does not make sense. Like, if it is too much, then I will complain, but this is still acceptable. So far, it's good, somewhat just like your typical isekai series. I am not going to sound smart by saying, “Oh, it is a bland series, I will drop it right away”, like some no-life people, but then actually still keep watching just to complain more and more.
But... But, I swear that if he/she repeats “A-ori” just one more time in the 2nd episode, I will be super pissed off 😂 I mean, who the heck even creates that word to be used to create magic? Can't the author just make him say “Waterball” or something similar?
You know what, it is kind of annoying to hear them saying “A-ori” every single time for Idk what reason. Just annoying, hell annoying. Anyway, still looking forward to the next episode.

In terms of general anime complaints I would just say that the episode ROARED by in terms of plot development. I mean we were introduced to the world, magic, the family, their place in the nobility, the background of the hero, AND the princess who is apparently his fiance! I get not wanting to waste time on exposition, but damn! A little bit of pacing could have let things breath a bit more and maybe explain how he's been treated up to this point?
I wanna see whoever was yelling at his magic teacher to STFU. Hopefully she'll be his next magic teacher.
Poor Maid-chan, having all her requests for a raise ignored, and then getting a 3 month paycut instead.
This one was kind of boring. I'll give ep 2 a try later, as I see it's already out.
Maid/instructor(?): ok so you can't do the most basic skills like WALKING or running... So instead, how about swinging a heavy, deadly weapon around?
Da fuq?
I haven't gotten to the 10 minute mark and I've already rolled my eyes and chuckled because of the dialogue a few times already.
I can't wait to see how dude makes eye balls out of water!!
Just gonna watch this show while turning my brain off.
While he was able to create water balls, the magic tutor apparently doesn't know of anything else at an elementary level to teach him.
The maid is the most fun character so far but everyone else and everything else is pretty boring at the moment. I can see the maid getting to be a bit too much and overshadowing the MC though.
And why was the maid punished? For standing next to him?
I can't say it's a bad show but next time something dumb happens I'm dropping it
