This was not on the list of things I thought would ever exist, but here it is, and here I am.
It seems in this world, the inquisitors were even more powerful.
Hugh's face is too powerful for mere mortals. I bet it will be the last torture tactic in the final episode.
Actually *pushes glasses* he is a mere par-timer not a regular employee so it is not a real 9-5
We have seen farming based animes to raise Japan's food self-sufficiency and family based animes to raise the Japanese birth rate, guessing this is to lay out the ground work for Japanese police to beat the crap out of suspects Jack Bauer style.
It's also interesting how they're all adults with Hugh being the youngest at 20 and Siu having twins. I like how they had to remind us that Mike was 22 when drinking beer lol.
I feel like the studio more than likely has more resources spent on "Young Ladies Don't Play Fighting Games", so maybe I will check that one out. Considering the Gorilla Girl episode 1 wasn't good when I tried that one, but that one looked better than this one.
I will keep an eye on the manga for this, and perhaps that is better, or if this episode is what the manga is.
Technically all of this can be traced back to Re: Monster which introduced the idea, but at least that show was a stripped down hentai were as these shows are trying to make this stuff seem normal.
anyway that's just my take on why a show like this exists, I don't expect this comment to get many upvotes because of the selective bias that usually takes place in these posts.
Curious how a job like assassin would work in that world? I mean since murder is legal does that mean that assassination of corrupt people or criminal is a legal profession too?
Also it is weird that i find hertwarmung and cute an anime about torture lol.
I was wondering about this, and I do hope they address it a little (both for torture, and for assassinations) but the way I see it, "legal" probably means "legislated", i.e. there's probably laws about what they can/can't do, etc..
(I don't think they can just legally grab a random person in the street and murder or torture them)

[Siu thought they should stick with the mouth, but hey, I'm sure some butt torture could get some people to talk even faster!](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/d30d23805fe4.png)
So the boys are going on a little shopping trip!
[PLEASE TORTURE ME- I mean, hey there!](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/4ac0c09539ee.png)

I should apply to this place, I could train their new employees!

Now that's just plain wrong, I didn't think there would be such amoral things in my cute little torture anime!

Why do I feel like these things are all connected hah.

Must be quite... Creative!
Well, this was pretty fun so far!
First show of the season I'm actually keeping!
This might be the weirdest premise for an anime this season.
>But there were things to suggest to a thinking man that the Creator of mankind had a very oblique sense of fun indeed, and to breed in his heart a rage to storm the gates of heaven.
>The mugs, for example. The inquisitors stopped work twice a day for coffee. Their mugs, which each man had brought from home, were grouped around the kettle on the hearth of the central furnace which incidentally heated the irons and knives.
>They had legends on them like A Present From the Holy Grotto of Ossory, or To The World's Greatest Daddy. Most of them were chipped, and no two of them were the same.
>And there were the postcards on the wall. It was traditional that, when an inquisitor went on holiday, he'd send back a crudely colored woodcut of the local view with some suitably jolly and risque message on the back. And there was the pinned-up tearful letter from Inquisitor First Class Ishmale "Pop" Quoom, thanking all the lads for collecting no fewer than seventyeight obols for his retirement present and the lovely bunch of flowers for Mrs. Quoom, indicating that he'd always remember his days in No. 3 pit, and was looking forward to coming in and helping out any time they were short-handed.
>And it all meant this: that there are hardly any excesses of the most crazed psychopath that cannot easily be duplicated by a normal, kindly family man who just comes in to work every day and has a job to do.
>Vorbis loved knowing that. A man who knew that, knew everything he needed to know about people.
---Small Gods, Terry Pratchett (1992)
But the dialogue got some chuckles out of me so I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes.
Still, this whole thing isn't for me so I dropped after a few minutes.
But, I will see this one to the end. Like to keep a variety of shows in perspective.
It wasn't fun or captivating, nor was it dark and gritty, it was just ... really weird (and boring) and I'm not really sure what the target audience is; it felt too dark for people not in to this kind of stuff and too lighthearted for people who are. It's like the show is trying to have it's cake and eat it too by trying to appeal to two completely different kinds of watchers.
If it had doubled down on either darkness or lightheartedness (with some actual black humor thrown in) I might've stuck around, but now the show just comes across as weird, and not in a good way.
Article 5 of the [Universal Declaration of Human Rights](https://www.un.org/en/about-us/universal-declaration-of-human-rights) doesn't have an exception for criminals.
The ones who are getting tortured has to been shown but so far it's only been the other way around. I can't really say that I like any of these characters.. 'cause it would make me look bad lol
You'll need more material in order to judge author's mentality😂
From the premise of "nothing but a cast of hot guys doing torture", I obviously expedited this show to be super gay, but it turned out to be a "slice of life" show about a part-time torturer.
It was a decent show, I'll keep watching.
Certainly intriguing. And Hugh's face is too powerful indeed.
