Nana or Steins gate - which one is more of a romance anime?

I want to watch both but I’m looking specifically for a romance anime right now. When I googled some options they both came up.

Edit: to clarify I don’t mind if it’s not purely romance. Something like Frieren, where romance is more implied and part of the story

None if am being honest. both stories don't focus that much on romance but steins gate is the better anime.

Nana is a Josei series. It naturally has more romantic elements. Steins Gate is not explicitly romantic. If that's what you're looking for, Toradora, Horimiya or The Fragrant Flower Blokms with Dignity, Blue Box or something like that might be more your speed

That person's comment is actually kind of a hot take, Toradora is a pretty well liked romance and considered a classic in the community even if the main heroine is kinda divisive. At the very least it isn't trash, so definitely give it a try

Nana has more romantic elements because it is a romance and drama show. Not because it is a shoujo. Stein’s Gate, while has romance elements, is first and foremost a Sci-Fi, Drama, Thriller show. It has nothing to do if it’s shoujo or josei or shounen

Well Nana does have some romance I guess but it's more of a drama between friends. It gets really frustrating towards the end. Steins Gate is a scifi. If you were looking for just romance, I'd not watch both.

Both are great shows, but I personally would not recommend them specifically for their romance elements.

If you are interested in more dedicated romance anime might I recommend My Dress-Up Darling and The Dangers in my Heart

Neither one is explicitly a romance anime, but they both have an element of romance present in the story. I personally prefer Steins; Gate, but Nana was still good. I recommend watching both if you are interested.

Honestly, between them, I'd say Steins;Gate. Nana has a lot of things related to romance in it, but it's a drama, and one which is significantly about romance gone wrong. It has things like lost love, break-ups, characters who cheat, get into fights, and manipulative partners. It's not a story where two characters are in love and take steps to get together, or where you follow characters who are in a romantic relationship already. The central relationship of the series is an intensely strong and intimate friendship (some would argue there's a romantic component to it, but the series doesn't do anything explicit with it). Steins;Gate is a sci-fi thriller so romance is not the focus, but it has a very prominent romantic subplot that culminates in a very romantic climax. If you're specifically looking for a traditional romantic story, I think Steins;Gate will be the more satisfying of the two. But neither is a romance series. Both are excellent though, highly recommend them (I do like Nana quite a bit more though).

Of the two, Nana has the most romance with multiple couple pairings. They are not anywhere near what I would call good and wholesome romances, however. These are the types of relationships that throw up more red flags than Beijing during the Lantern Festival.
