As an anime only I need help understanding what's going on with the Kaguya sama series?

A recent TV special of 2 episodes aired and it's not a sequel to the story we currently have and apparently some other chapters from the manga. And then I saw that they announced a Movie adapting the FINAL chapters of the manga? Like wtf is going on? Are we not gonna get a continuation of the story from First kiss that never ends? I've seen that there are 281 chapters in the manga, are they srsly gonna skip all that and directly adapt the final chapters? I've never seen an anime do something like this before, I mean adapting half the manga and then straight to the finale. Someone tell me what's going on pls. I'm not opposed to reading the manga to continue the story but I want to understand why they don't plan to adapt the chapters after first kiss, especially when the anime so extremely popular and successful.

It's all over the place tbh, in fact they've been skipping chapters since season 1. But it's never been this bad before. Since you already mentioned you're not against reading the manga, I suggest doing that and starting from chapter 1.

No, they were adapted in the episodes that already aired earlier this week. The movie will be post-manga.

That part of the manga wasn't as good. It was either do this, or stop adapting it.

There was School Rumble which did the same thing : 2 seasons and an OVA speedrunning to the ending

Funnily, Kaguya-sama was inspired by School Rumble.

Its not as popular as you think it is and people hate the arcs after the movie for some reason, Idk why cuz its soo good. Just read manga but im happy because the movie that's coming out is post manga in the story so brand new content

What I heard was that the new movie is going to be an anime original ending to the series. The author himself is supervising the movie for a new ending.

Don't know why they went with this direction rather than making more seasons. Maybe the producers just saw how much money cannon anime movies are making at the box office and decided to produce a movie.
