I would have *never* picked this show up were it not for a rewatch, and I'm glad this one was as fun as it was to make the experience as ~~vile~~ fun as it was.

>But seriously, Hana... You know you're just gonna get pissed on again, or touched by dicks or something!
>She's like the Wile E Coyote of golden showers, and Kiyoshi's dick is Roadrunner!
And
>And I'm out, I can't believe I wasted my time with this bullshit. Fuck you /u/shocketheth
[](#bigthink)
But yeah, this was such a fun rewatch!
[](#attentivenote)
/u/Shocketheth I'll remember this the next time I'm in the mood for a rewatch.
I'll try to tag you if there will be another Rewatch.

I am nominating /u/littleislander's [Pride Month/Takako Shimura](https://old.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1kuj3si/rewatch_pride_month_rewatch_aoi_hana_hourou/) rewatch. Getting to watch all of a creator's (adapted) works in a short time span is always really interesting - I like seeing how people re-use and refine ideas over time. LittleIslander also read and wrote up reviews of basically of Takako Shimura's numerous manga over the course of the rewatch, making this a one-stop shop for Shimura's works.

> What makes this rewatch thread memorable for me is that they announced a long awaited S2
It's amazing how well the timing worked out, couldn't have planned that if I tried!
More than that, I found it really indicative of why I like rewatches on r/anime so much. The group might have been small, but multiple people taking a serious look at all these very old and often very obscure but also foundational works is an experience I think you'll struggle to find in many other places.

It's hard to explain just how powerful that rewatch was. Even though [Episode 21]>!The entire rewatch turned agianst the show around this point due to how badly executed the plot device was!< in fact the whole rewatch had the vibe of "people who pay way too much attention to the story get lost in it."
The best way to describe how powerful the rewatch was is not in measuring individual comments, but in the fact that *in every rewatch thereafter there was discussion of this rewatch in the most random of places*.
In the [Key the metal idol](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1n4chkn/key_the_metal_idol_30th_anniversary_rewatch/nbk9vsz/) rewatch, *3 months after the fact* we had an entire full blown discussion of the SSY rewatch Because of one passing comment made by Quiddly.
Mind you in that group /u/Tarhalindur wasn't even a participant of the Key the metal idol rewatch, but the allure of continuing to discuss the Shin Sekai yori rewatch was too tantalizing. We weren't interesed in the show, we were discussing *the rewatch of the show* because *that* was supremely interesting.
The rewatch was incredible, from paying attention to every little detail, writing 10 pages of notes for vaious parts, learning about new and interesting ideas and the entire rewatch Turning against the show in a way that caused everyone to focus on all the details the show gets wrong getting frustrated and even though we started hating on the show all at the same time the entire rewatch wasn't ruined by that it was strenghtened. All throughout this process Quiddly our brave leader soldiers on and the rewatch gets this hyper analytical mood that I've never seen replicated since.
Now it's time for me to start thinking whether I host something for 2026, as my #2 and #3 choices were both covered by someone else before 2025 ended! Kino's Journey is probably the most likely one I'd do at this point.
Of course *you* delivered on the rewatch *hard*. Re-reading your comments on the show it was clear how much work you put into the rewatch and how much charge you took, the conversations sometimes got heated (in a few instances) and you were really good at telling us to back off the few times it got that way.
The rewatch felt really good in large part due to your work.
I remember my early rewatches as well. Even though Sky still finds it traumatizing, you might want to skim a bit of the Casshern SINS rewatch to see what my earliest experience of the rewatchers turning on the show was.
It really is an honor to see one of my rewatches even be nominated, honestly, especially since I felt I wasn’t even doing *that* good a job as a host for a good chunk of it. Really glad you and so many others had such a good time with it, and I completely agree about how enjoyable it was to see so many different people come at it from different angles over the course of the year.
~~I mean, I wasn't the best participant either....~~
Seriously though, that's what I feel too whenever I finish a rewatch. Which isn't to say it's wrong, there's a lot to learn from the experience, but you've gotta look at what you have too, and in this case, it's rock solid. A mix of first timers, manga readers, game players, [youkai](https://i.imgur.com/VAZxmik.jpeg), dub watchers,... all discussing the show in their own ways, bringing their own fun little trivia and experiences, and having a good time together.

I had a blast running it this year. I know I spent *a lot* of time analyzing each and every aspect of the series (especially once we hit season two), but I can really only commend the wonderful participants that came each day to share all their thoughts and engage in such wonderful conversation. Those are the people that really made the rewatch experience such a success!
I'd love to shout out all the regulars (including you!!) for making the rewatch what it was, but still feel I owe a special bit of gratitude to /u/Malipit (a first timer!) and /u/EruNow (rewatcher), who delivered such fantastic analysis and insight every single day without fail, and I would totally nominate for "Rewatchers of 2025" if such a thing existed. Seriously, I continue to be blown away by the depth of discussion and casual conversation that took place during the K-ON rewatch, and I already am looking forward to the next one!
(Which reminds me, I need to get my stuff together and actually post the interest thread for the next rewatch I wanna host soon... time is slipping by! I'll try to get it up tomorrow.)
Anyway, thanks! I'm very happy to know that others enjoyed it too :)
To be honest, that K-On! one was among my favorite I ever done (yeah I only partake in like, 16-18 of them but still) thanks to your passion and your dedication that was the cement for the rewatch group to form and hold in such a good mood.
And that rewatch left such an impression to me I can't help but to notice the use of Golden Hour in other rewatches and point it out (like during the *Prison School* one out of all rewatches).
So yeah, I second Zealfnonex in that nomination and eagerly await the [probably your next rewatch]>!Hibike Euphonium!< rewatch you will host.
I look forward to seeing some of the gang come back together post-Healer Girl in the near future!
Speaking of that, I'm still kind of upset at myself for getting so involved in my own rewatch that I never went back and finished reading and writing a post up for the Bloom manga. Maybe this is the perfect reminder for me to go back and finally do that! Even if no one reads my post at this point, I loved the series so much that I *really* need to read the second half of the dang story!
I'll add a +1 to the nomination for the K-ON! rewatch. It was such a joy to be part of, and a huge chunk of that comes down to how well you ran it and how welcoming the threads were every day. It’s way easier (and more fun) to dig deep when there’s an audience (and host) that’s excited to engage with the details.
Looking forward to that interest thread!
Now I just need to get my brain out of holiday mode so I can remember how to string together enough words to make that interest post! Wait... it's already January 5th? Damn, I've could've sworn Christmas was like two days ago. Good thing I didn't make any promises get that interest thread up mid-December or anything, right??
Heh, hope you had some good holidays and the new(ish) job is still going well! Can't wait to over-analyze some more stories with all of you again soon.
Hope you had a great break too, and yep, the new job’s going well so far - thanks for asking. First day back today and it's *chaos* already so *yay.*

But thanks for the nomination regardless!

[I think the 2025 edition of the 2025 Toradora Christmas Club Rewatch hosted by u/ChristmasClub- should win for best rewatch of 2025.](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/s/Vcv1R4PPde)
Now, why should a yearly rewatch win you may ask? Well, consider the following.
It continued to build momentum rather than die down over time. It has a good mix of first timers and frequent rewatchers. It has short comments that you may expect, long comments as well, but it also had valued analysis from users like u/737373elj. And also how can I forget the contributions of u/sillypion who all the time wrote a novel and pour his bleed, sweat, and tears with every thread?
It also from a statistical standpoint was the most socially active thread since the 2021 Madoka Magica rewatch. Episode 25 and episode 19 from this year's rewatch are now the two most commented rewatch threads of all time in the history of the subreddit. On top of that, 4 of the 25 episodes plus the OVA had over 500 comments each.
Now, the big knock on the rewatch was how heavily involved I was. I contributed a lot of comments in the threads to the point of annoyance. And if that's a bridge you're willing to die on and can't make amends with, I understand. But to play devil's advocate, I think me trying to help steer the ship helped lead to a lot of great discussion and back and forth.
And most importantly, my efforts should not take away from the amazing contributions of others like 737373elj and sillypion that helped make the rewatch the success it was.
The 2025 Toradora Christmas Club Rewatch is the most fun I've ever had as a Redditor. And I feel it deserves its rightful place in the history books.
Come now, that's a tad disingenuous. You don't think that you splitting your replies into up to 13 single line responses per comment (and I don't mean chains) that you're responding to might be inflating those number just a little?
Anyways, their rewatch captured the magical emotions I felt for A Place Further Than the Universe like I was watching it for the first time again, and I can't think of higher praise then that.
[](#saesmile)
I feel grateful that the rewatch helped folks find or reconnect with the emotional journey of Sora Yori all over again, it's a truly special experience.
Of course, much of this was made possible by the fantastic show. It's a yuri romance, but (no spoilers) the characters are *very* multi-layered and every time there's a revelation, it casts everything before it in a new light. At one point I joked that it should be renamed *Recontextualize: The Animation*. Reinterpretations of characters' behaviors and feelings constantly fed the flames of the discussions, and every participant had a turn in making key connections that we'd debate at length and dork out about.
*Bloom into You* also touches upon a lot of themes about love, identity, sexual orientation, depression, and loss. Which also prompted some participants to open up and talk about connections between the themes and their own lives. It was a real experience.
I'll give shoutouts to /u/siegfried72, /u/baekhap_inma, /u/austonst, /u/Shimmering-Sky, and /u/ZaphodBeebblebrox, but really the list of people who made memorable contributions is too long. And many thanks to /u/ClemFire for being super engaging with every comment, seeding each thread with great discussion questions, AND hosting a little manga discussion thread for those of us who finished the story afterward.
I'm planning to host another romance rewatch once a certain Summer 2025 anime is greenlit for Season 3
