Can't wait to watch Fist of the North Star for the first time.
CringeKage2222026-01-05 08:18
Watch the 90's anime then
dinliner082026-01-05 09:25
the 80's, not the 90's
oh4fksk2026-01-05 09:35
'80s.
the apostrophe prefixes the numbers, as it's there to replace what's been contracted, which in this case is the 19 from 1980s/1990s. (yeah yeah, we're on reddit, no one asked.)
dinliner082026-01-05 12:12
no, no, no, that's actually a useful info, didn't know that i've been using it wrong this whole time
Kill-bray2026-01-05 21:11
"We are livin', livin' in the 90s!"
"We still fight, fightin' in the 90s!"
abandoned_idol2026-01-05 16:52
I want to watch something made in 2026.
CringeKage2222026-01-05 18:05
Then watch something that's not a shit cashgrab with animation that was made by a toaster
Spolaceno422026-01-05 18:25
The anime is so censored with white blood all the time and obscuring or removing every graphic scene I just can't take it seriously. More censored than most modern anime. They really made it for all ages. It's a shame because the voice actors are great. But the manga is much better at the end of the day
CringeKage2222026-01-05 18:59
Unsurprising, a lot of anime used to be censored back in the day even more then today.
SensitiveCellist22942026-01-05 06:51
is this the "omae wa mou shindeiru" anime?
Desperate_Method40202026-01-05 09:36
Nani?!!
CommunicationNeat4982026-01-05 21:30
It is
waffle-spouse2026-01-05 06:52
Why did they copy Jojo’s artstyle? /s
theGRAYblanket2026-01-05 07:26
More importantly, why does it look like the women have bobble heads
Captain_Kuhl2026-01-05 08:41
I think you mean the children, and that's because they're little kids. The only woman in the picture isnt showing anything besides her face and hands.
theGRAYblanket2026-01-05 08:42
Damn I didnt even see the two up top those big heads were so distracting.
But yea the ones on the left and right. I thought it was like the style, didnt even notice they were kids
majingetta2026-01-05 09:44
I'm assuming this is a joke.
Heapifying2026-01-05 18:33
FYI they finished the comment with "/s", which is reddit etiquette of "sarcasm"
Abysswatcherbel2026-01-05 07:00
The biggest Pachinko ad to ever Pachinko ad
Financial_Army20182026-01-05 07:15
Dude looks like Jojo style Guts.
silvertwo7772026-01-05 08:07
Fun fact, both Jojo and Guts are directly inspired by Kenshiro.
Open_Inspector_78632026-01-05 07:15
Looks like we are getting Fisting of the North Star
Spolaceno422026-01-05 07:25
Just read the manga instead. It's timeless with beautiful art that's even better than many modern manga. I can't say for sure but this thing just looks dissapointing
krumpfwylg2026-01-05 07:32
The cel shading visual is just horrible, how did they manage to slaughter the original style that much...
Folks if you're interested, just watch the 1984 series.
CrackingYourNuts2026-01-05 08:41
Literally 1984-- is better
droidtron2026-01-05 09:31
Only 20 filler episodes, which is a good minimum.
3and20characters9872026-01-08 08:43
To be fair, this is partially because for a few stretches of episodes they used the Naruto strategy of doing a filler episode but putting one or two manga scenes in it so it isn't a filler episode.
majingetta2026-01-05 09:44
The 2006-2008 five-film series are also fine supplementary material.
Awerlu2026-01-05 11:04
I dont understand how alot of anime companies just cant seem to do CGI that well. CGI can make action look so good and fluid with awesome effects. But the amount of good cgi in anime examples I can think of is slim.
I think the recent chainsawman film had alot of cgi that looked good. Especially compared to the series which was middling cgi.
krumpfwylg2026-01-05 11:15
Question of $$$
Making good looking CGI requires to spend more time, hire more graphic designers, etc... which increases the cost of production. Using average CGI reduces the amount of time needed, and therefore the money to invest.
drthrax12026-01-05 11:37
Demon slayer started using it more too to meh results.
Compte_22026-01-05 13:21
What do you mean meh? The characters, sure, but the infinity castle is a masterful work of art.
drthrax12026-01-05 17:27
sometimes it blends with the other art sometimes it doesn’t, I enjoyed infinity castle but i find it jarring when you can basically see the 3d assets just dropped into environments and they clash with the backgrounds. Ufotable has been pretty good about blending the CGI and the traditional by using it sparingly or in combat situation where the motion hides the CGI look or use effects to mask it.
IDK it just breaks up the “flow” when you switch between the two styles for me if it’s not done right, breaks my immersion, probably because it looks clearly different from 90% of the show and shots most of the time
Compte_22026-01-05 17:35
Fair enough, I guess it's a matter of personal differences. To me, it never felt jarring, but more so otherworldly. Idk, I enjoy the alienness of it all.
HeartUnderBruhh2026-01-05 15:36
Nah just recently watched Infinity Castle and goddamn did their CGI and Visual Effects team gone all out.
drthrax12026-01-05 17:31
yea infinity castle was definitely the most enjoyable use of CGI i’ve seen
ChiggaOG2026-01-06 05:49
You have to blame the Japanese anime industry for relying mainly on hand drawing. Not keeping up with modern tech to work with new mediums. Toei is currently the only animation studio who can produce polished full rate CGI anime for a weekly show.
bullsfan2812026-01-05 07:47
boy slow down dropping all that BS music...😭😂✌️
SecondRealitySims2026-01-05 07:52
I can’t tell exactly based on the image, but are they using 3D animation for this? I’d actually be pretty excited they were if it looked somewhat decent. This visual doesn’t inspire much hope of that.
CringeKage2222026-01-05 08:19
Yeah it's 3d, they had multiple trailers already and it looks as bad as berserk 2016
KrypticJin2026-01-05 11:32
This shit looks better than berserk 😂y’all just hating
[deleted]2026-01-05 17:15
It's certainly not on the level of Berserk 2016, but definitely better. It's been 10 years, too!
somethingicould2026-01-05 07:58
🥲
contrabardus2026-01-05 08:02
I'm having flashbacks to CGI Berserk.
I already want to forget this exists, and it's not even out yet.
LustLagoon-2026-01-05 08:30
This key visual screams classic 80s drama with modern polish I’m officially hyped
PhenomsServant2026-01-05 09:05
Da fuck?! Did we learn nothing from Berserk 2016?!
cinna-bun-cattte2026-01-05 09:22
god if only the lighting in this visual was what the show used...
KrypticJin2026-01-05 11:32
Not even out yet
RogueKT2026-01-05 09:25
My god it looks so ass. Berserk all over again.
skool_1012026-01-05 09:32
✋😐🤚
fav_eggyolk2026-01-05 10:04
Berserk??
DAiDAiDa2026-01-05 10:22
They made around like $20 billion from this IP. at least spare like 1/1000 of that revenue for anime to promote your gacha. Make it high quality so we can watch that instead of 40 year old one. But no they need to skim on everything and make this abomination. Thank you japanese higherups that botches everything.
KrypticJin2026-01-05 11:32
So many haters in here. I’m hyped for this
mr_beanoz2026-01-05 11:37
People aren't really a fan of the art style being used in this remake.
abandoned_idol2026-01-05 16:49
I'd rather watch bad CGI than something that is 40 years old. So I too am very excited to get into the series here via the 2026 adaptation.
RAMAR7132026-01-05 23:37
You're being downvoted, but it's a perfectly valid opinion.
abandoned_idol2026-01-05 23:49
Thanks.
I understand that they are very disappointed and defensive. We are all right.
That said, I do wish people would stop recommending me old anime when I am not asking for it.
The worst instances are when they claim that these old adaptations are "masterpieces". No product, be it old or new, is perfect at the end of the day.
...
I'm probably just overly generalizing fans of Dragonball. God that anime adaptation looks as static as it can get... (maybe because it was weekly and not necessarily because it was old).
And the new LOGH adaptation is perfectly fine.
To end this ramble. I look forward to this and many more re-adaptations of stories that currently only have old adaptations.
And I think CGI can be really fun to watch. e.g. Opening Song of JoJo part 1.
RAMAR7132026-01-06 12:24
Indeed, good CGI can be really nice. I personally loved Drifting Dragons and Ajin, as well as countless video games.
I think it's all about mutual understanding and respect. Some people like you and I don't really like very old anime, and some people will find some things to be masterpieces (and want to share that) whereas we will not. We should strive to accept that other might have different tastes, even if to us they make no sense.
travis-2026-01-05 23:42
My enjoyment of an anime is greatly increased when you don't read the episode reviews in this subreddit.
Had people calling me an idiot here for watching TBATE. Just watch whatever you want, you don't need people here telling you what is good and what isn't.
slackboy722026-01-05 12:41
what-year-is-it.gif
exonaxeso2mines2026-01-05 13:11
I smell bad CGI
teerre2026-01-05 18:11
Hopefully this is as funny as Berserk 2016
ChaosKiller20002026-01-05 19:30
Just watch the original. It still holds up today and will be better than whatever this is.
MysteryNeighbor2026-01-05 20:15
Looks like cover art for a PS2 game
CommunicationNeat4982026-01-05 21:33
If that is gonna be how the show will look then... it is already dead
