is being an asshole to the anime community and I wanna know if there are any alternatives to use. I had a premium subscription, but I recently canceled.

Unless you want to sail the high seas.......I don't think there are other options.
Flat-Entry902026-01-05 13:54
and for some reason I instantly thought I should clarify: High seas = piracy.
Hi-Dive doesn't have that much. Netflix would be your next best option
Worried-Attorney-5542026-01-05 13:56
I got what you meant clever lol
Impressive_Dingo43332026-01-06 19:08
I ride the Internet Archive seas I think there are a bunch of stuff on there we don't know about
sunkencathedral2026-01-05 14:06
It's interesting how fansubs were the main way people in the West watched anime for so long, that there's at least one generation who grew up seeing it as the 'normal' way to watch anime. Even though services like crunchyroll exist, fansubs still 'feel' like the default. The timeframe aligns pretty closely with the mp3 era as well. People whose first instinct, when they want to listen to music, is to browse and download mp3s simply because it's what they were accustomed to doing for decades.
Orirank2026-01-05 14:07
Sailing the high seas is probably the best option.
notanfan2026-01-05 13:55
There is no alternative cr has monopoly just sail the seas
TheGreenDango942026-01-05 13:56
Purchase physical media, you'll own it forever and at least some of it goes to the people that worked on the thing that you love.
Castform52026-01-05 14:07
Fun fact about this. If you want to support the original creator, buying physical goods (like figures) usually gives a lot more money to them, compared to the media side where more money goes to the production company. It's like a little balancing act of who you'd prefer support.
TheGreenDango942026-01-05 14:11
That's a very good point, thanks for mentioning that. As if I needed more of an excuse to buy more of my favorite waifu figures 🙂↕️
But yeah it's certainly a balancing act, and not cheap. But hey these series have meant a lot to me and changed my life for the better so it's a worthy thing to spend money on.
HealthyCalendar27612026-01-05 15:55
Do you have any evidence to back this up? Cause I'm not so sure this is true.
pipboy_warrior2026-01-05 16:37
How much does physical media cost for anime nowadays? Seems like it would be very expensive to rely on physical media for everything you watch, especially if you watch multiple shows a season.
Nettysocks2026-01-05 13:57
You got nothing really. Netflix, Hidive, some anime on Disney not many, some on Amazon.
It’s a crap shoot if you want to support.
Crossdress-Fan-2026-01-05 13:57
Yaarrr! matey Uncle Jack has everything you want!
ActualRound76992026-01-05 13:57
Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Hi-Dive, YouTube maybe? but none of those are going to have as wide of a selection.
the only other alternative is one we can’t promote in the sub 🤷♂️
81Ranger2026-01-05 13:57
I mean, most of the seasonal and even not as recent shows, if they are available, are available on Crunchyroll. They've got .... 80%? of the anime in the North American market? Maybe 90%?
There is no legit alternative. You can find some stuff on Hulu (and I suppose Disney+ once they shut Hulu down) and a few on Netflix and HiDive has a limited catalog (more limited than it was 2-3 years ago).
Worried-Attorney-5542026-01-05 13:59
That sucks
new_failure2026-01-05 13:58
There are anime on official platform but not an alternative of crunchyroll. animes are scattered around in a lot of ott platform.
fuzzynavel342026-01-05 14:00
Jailbreak a fire stick
RoachIsCrying2026-01-05 14:02
sail the high seas like a lot of the world that allow it or don't really care about stopping it
Castform52026-01-05 14:03
My alternative is like 15 terabytes of storage and a yarr-harr attitude. Also a bunch of other software to manage all that.
MediaInfoBot2026-01-05 14:11
Unless you're only going to download Blu-ray remux, no need for that much storage
Castform52026-01-05 14:17
It's all on a NAS anyway, with the total storage being like 36TB. Literally a storage server, so that much storage is just part of the deal. At least I can fit like decades worth of stuff in there and still have plenty of space.
CommentStrict89642026-01-05 14:11
It depends on the series.
Some you can get on YouTube, some on Netflix, some on whatever else. You can potentially even get physical copies. Your options are limited.
timpkmn892026-01-05 14:14

???
yatorahsoka2026-01-05 14:46
if you are a french person you can go to the anime-sama website.. and if u dont idk where you can go sorrrrrrry
moichispa2026-01-05 14:56
Most series are on chrunchyroll sadly. A few are on Disney +, Amazon or Netflix
Not sure of it is worth to get them only for anime except for Netflix maybe, but if you already have them check their catalog
Vegetable-Tour98272026-01-05 15:22
if you are in US, then I suppose it is Crunchroll or arrr and sailing free high seas :) Outside of US, with all regional bockades even Crunchyroll is not viable option to watch anime (yeah, you can VPN around this) so frankly I wonder why are high seas considered something bad in first place.
fatedeclipse2026-01-05 15:32
Stremio + RD is my combo. But I also wanna be king of the...
RyaReisender2026-01-05 16:40
There isn't really a good alternative.
Netflix only has a few anime, but they are usually high quality, the player is also really good and efficient and they often do subtitles for on-screen text, but not as often as CR.
Amazon Prime has quite some anime, but many require sub-subscriptions, so you're ending up paying a lot more. Also their player and subtitles are horrible. No on-screen translations unless you want subtitles for everything, not recommended for dub watchers. Also Amazon actually **lies**. They claim they have a dub if you are not subscribed (even give you the first episode with dub), then the moment you subscribe, suddenly they don't show that they have the dub anymore (you can't even watch the first episode with dub until you unsubscribe). They also once sent me an offer once that if I subscribe in December, I get 1 month for free, but they billed me anyway. No way to contact a real human about the issue, just AI that doesn't understand the problem. If you think CR is bad, you haven't experienced Amazon Prime yet.
Disney+ only has few anime, but some big hidden gems among them. It's just something you can subscribe 1 month to, watch all their anime and then unsubscribe again because you've seen all.
So going by that Netflix is the second best option, though I recommend just staying with CR. They aren't THAT bad even though they removed the comments section (doesn't exist at the other providers either), use AI subtitles (which with enough backlash they will fix) and will probably introduced ads even to paid streams (which really just means you need to pay more for an ad-free version, still not more expensive than the other streaming services).
