> Recommemd a Winter 2026 anime

Journal with Witch blew me away with its premiere yesterday. An expertly-directed melancholy drama. Can't recommend it enough.

noctaviann2026-01-05 13:59

* Oh, no! Iroha beat Asu-nee, and Dicta Striker beat Yuzuki. The Chitose girls are out.
* The Wandance girls are also out!
* Ha-san is also out.
* Good luck Watatabe girls!

ClemFire2026-01-05 14:08

Sad to see Wanda lose, but she was up against Reze. I'm believing in the Miko upset over her though if they both make it to the semis.

81Ranger2026-01-05 14:01

Down to 2 Mangaka girls. Alas.

Running out of people to vote for, as usual.

I can't recommend a 2026 anime. Haven't even watched one yet. How many have even aired an episode?

porpoiseoflife2026-01-05 17:25

Just a handful of them have an episode released. So far from this season, Sentenced To Be A Hero is a clear fan favorite after the triple-length first episode. Because holy shit, that was incredible. And no, it isn't an isekai.

**Journal with Witch** had a stellar premiere with the production quality. A character-driven drama which tackled the theme of family, grief, and loneliness.

**Tune In to the Midnight Heart** will only begin airing tomorrow but I'm familiar with the source material. It'll remind you a lot of The Quintessential Quintuplets in terms of theme. The MC is also far from bland and in fact is the most colourful among the cast.

ClemFire2026-01-05 14:05

Let's go monster girls! Hoping to see Hinako and Shiori face each other in the next round, but it will be a tough choice.

Also impressive upset by Satou from Mangaka. If you're a fan of character driven comedy I would recommend it for sure.

>Recommend a Winter 2026 anime to fellow members!

I heard this little known show about an elf girl from a small indie studio is getting a second season. Jokes aside if you haven't watched Frieren yet, this is the perfect time to catch up

Nachtwandler_FS2026-01-05 14:12

At least Miko is still in the running.

bananeeek2026-01-05 18:00

She has to reach the top 4, at which point she'll have to face Reze, which is not going to be easy considering CSM's popularity.

eightcheesepizza2026-01-05 14:36

**Tojima Wants to be a Kamen Rider** still counts as a Winter 2026 anime, right? It was the funniest thing I watched last season, and it continues this season.

Other than that, here's another recommendation for **Journal with Witch**.

BaytaCosmico2026-01-05 14:43

Scarlet vs Fuyumura would be an interesting match up. Not in the bracket but just to see them go up against each other in a death match. Badass girls in their own ways.

Both of them and the Watatabe girls are all I care about now. Miko winning the whole thing would be sweet.

Komarist2026-01-05 15:44

> Amelia Rosequartz 115 - 121 Kaede Satou

Alright u/qwertyqwerty4567, it's time for the remake petition.

MC: Shiboyugi. I believe a death game series can get a good adaptation. ^(Please don't butcher my girl)

qwertyqwerty45672026-01-05 21:21

I kind of realized after the first round that I have no one to root for.

Xatu442026-01-05 15:45

Welp, it's up to Reze now. RIP Alma, Marie, and Melinda.

MC: JJK is cool.

Traditional_Yam47502026-01-05 15:52

Queue_Jumping_Quack2026-01-05 16:07

My votes went to the Watatabe trio. Also a few others, but Miko is the one I hope takes the crown. Scarlett looks to have a convincing lead in votes unfortunately...

As for recommendations, I've seen four series so far and of those Sentenced to be Hero was the best. Of the ones not yet to air, Frieren is the one I'm most eagerly expecting (first season a rare 10/10 for me), but check out Medalist too (the first season was my AOTY 2025).

bandannadann2026-01-05 16:29

Sorry March! Running into Reze before Top 8 is just bad luck :(

ZeonTwoSix2026-01-05 17:12

I was already expecting our One Punch Ma'am to do well in this poll. But be the top-seeder?! Chronoa's Holy Trousers!

Ok, now to the brackets... Diana-sama against Miomio's OL Counterpart?

Urgnu-the-Gnu2026-01-05 17:28

Only two upsets, and it had to hit Obey Your Master? That's disappointing, but very happy to see two horse girls survive the round. Let's get them even further! Also, while Wanda and On were doomed, I'm rather satisfied quite a few people still voted for them.

MC: Super early for this question, but I suppose most people have taken notice that Sentenced to Be A Hero is shaping up to be very good. Journal with Witch might fly under many people's radards though. The melancholic atmosphere grabbed my immediately and touched me deeply in just the first episode.

Of shows not aired yet, apart from sequels, I'm quite interested in Champignon Witch and Kaya-chan Isn't Scary as well. Including sequels, this is a reminder that you already should be up to date on Medalist, and that you definitely need to finally start Golden Kamuy.

ghostpickleonastick2026-01-05 17:40

It was always going to come down to Scarlet and Reze, but it's really something that all the other spots in the Top 5 are the Watatabe trio.

OppaiEmperor19962026-01-05 18:34

Thoughts on yesterday's round:

Wow, none of the ChiRamune girls made it to the top 8... I thought at least Yuzuki was gonna make it there...

Today's votes:

**Chronoa's Blessing: Acceleration - Three Burst**

**Kaede Satou**

**Hinako Yaotose**

I love Shiori, but I'll send **Iroha** off by voting for her. She is pretty much what Himari from Danjoru was supposed to be if she was likable.

**Reze**

**Miko Yashiro**

**Azusa Kannawa**

cppn022026-01-05 19:07

Looks like Scarlet might actually pull it off and beat Reze.

>Recommend a Winter 2026 anime to fellow members!

I enjoyed all four shows I tried to far this season but Ikoku Nikki was definitely the standout.

Vaadwaur2026-01-05 21:57

Through out Heaven and Earth, Shiori Ouma alone is the honored one.

Frostbitten_Moose2026-01-05 22:17

Welp, Reze is the only girl I care about left, and I don't care enough to keep coming back for her. I'll toss her a final vote today, then I'm gonna peace out. See y'all in Best Girl of 2025 for yet more salt and disappointment.

Ceryto22026-01-05 22:33

Damn Alma got totally sent back to the scrapyard by Miko...

And to be honest I don't really think I'll have all that much to comment for the rest of the contest, since the two girls I do like most are Reze and Scarlet (I really don't see them getting upset atm) and I'm not particulary invested into any other ones, so I guess I'll mainly be sticking to the MC's this contest. Speaking of:

>MC: Recommend a Winter 2026 anime to fellow members!

Ah, I'm really spoiled for choice here but I guess I'll at least limit myself to anime that have already aired at least on episode so far. I'll say the one that surprised me the most by how good it was, was Journal with witch, since I knew nothing going into it, but am already enamoured with the atmosphere and the dynamic between the two main characters. You really notice that the production staff poured a lot of love into this anime.

The other big recommendation of the already aired shows is Sentenced to be a Hero, which also had a banger premiere and is a must watch for anyone who loves a darker Fantasy anime.

Salty1452026-01-05 23:23

Still mad that random ahh seasonal harem girls seeded higher than and knocked out Ukyo.

kalirion2026-01-06 03:39

Scarlett, Dina, Miko. That was easy.
