We are only just now getting to it.
Ideally it could have had its anime adaption years ago after the books finished.
It didn't conclude THAT long ago. It finished publishing May 2022, on same day that chapter 353 of MHA came out. That chapter that got adapted in episode 9 of season 7. I think it would be more accurate to say that Vigilante concluded as MHA was beginning it's final arc.
Numerous vigilante fans seem to hate the main series and get extremely angry if somebody doesn't like Vigilantes the most. I've witnessed that.
Adult themes, main character is a college kid, no bloated cast, tightly written with minimal asspulls. It doesn't have the peaks of the original series but is a much better story because it knows where its going at all times.
What you're seeing now is just the remnants of that.
It mostly is a strong feeling among a section of the community along the lines of "This! This is what I wanted!"
It's because, when Vigilantes was hitting its stride, there was a lot of dissatisfaction among MHA fans over how the series was progressing: Plot points being discarded or going in directions they didn't like, characters being thrown by the wayside or otherwise ignored, etc. etc.
For them, Vigilantes was everything they liked MHA and none of the bits they didn't. Combine that with the modern internet's tendency to hyper-polarize (if you don't love something, you have to HATE IT with every fiber of your being) and you end up with people's feelings over MHA and Vigilantes.
*~~And apparently Crab People too.~~*

I just said a generic OP is the right call when it would otherwise have spoilers in it.
Your comment was removed because it was talking about what will come in the future, which belongs in the source corner.
[Monika seems like an interesting addition to the cast](https://imgchest.com/p/ljyqkog6ny2). I was almost certain she'll turn out to be a villain because she was acting suspiciously, so when it turned out she's [an undercover cop](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/110995b1beaf.png), I was quite surprised.
I'm also really glad [they kept the comic book art style in the OP, it looks great](https://imgchest.com/p/6eyrnorxk7p)! Although [the song in it](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJFqYBcIMcc) definitely isn't as good as in [the first one](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PaXXwyA9aYE) IMO.
Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

*EDIT. I added my screenshot albums.*
Also, this contained some serious Kamen Rider references, down to the Inazuma Kick
No shame in not being as good as a 10/10.
Also feel like most food products would draw more eyes and sales when peddled in mecha suits lol.
Oh phew 😮💨
A new technique through rigorous training is nice and expected, but I love it when characters are doing random shit and unlocks a new power. No idea what that trope is called.
Fat Gum!
Ah. I did not expect noncon/dubcon food stuffing.
>Correct me if I’m wrong
Cassandra Lee Morris (EN Kyubey, *Madoka Magica*) has made me so nervous about that phrase now.
Aaaaahaaaaa Daddy Tsukauchi has returned, I have missed you 🙌🏾 Though this before your DILF status, so the cheer is a lot quieter. Still a tall drink of water.
What do you mean you remodeled warehouse equipment, what equipment makes a *mobile suit???*
Daddy Aizawa is here too 🤧
Oh wait *waaaaaaat*
Ah. They’re the baddies.
***
Boooooo CR team for this, you didn’t include text overlays for the dub, booooooo
From the preview, Koichi gets to show off his new technique more. From S1, baby him could fly, so I hope he will get by that skill someday.
I hope we see Tensei soon.
Yeah, the overlay consistency is just…wildly inconsistent with shows on CR. I’m always bewildered. One show can have *gorgeous* text overlays! Another does the Netflix shit where the “overlays” are all at the top of the screen in the same damn font as the dialogue. Another show has nothing there. *Or* you can see the overlays on your laptop but not on your Samsung TV app or Fire Stick app 🫠
Or worse! They halfway do the overlays, with some getting TL’ed, some don’t, and then they completely stop for the rest of the season!
Just weird quality all around. It’s bananas.
S1 was amazing with a very solid finish.
What did you find "Underwheling" about it?
This is more like Batman where My Hero is more like The Avengers.
One is a street level hero, the others are worldly heroes.
Also My Hero is more aimed at teens who like power shounen stuff while this show is more aimed towards a mature crowd with more mature topics like gangs and drug use and stuff.
So different people they are appealing to.
That said you can def enjoy both just fine, i do.
Ironically enough, both with the same demographic label as "shonen" though. lol
Look at chainsaw man. A series for teens with more gore than most horror series.
There's a good reason why CSM is sold in the same Shounen magazine as MHA, One Piece, Kny, Jjk, etc.
Different tone but same target demographic
As for Vigilantes, it feels more grounded but is very much of a similar tone as the main series
Do tell then, what makes this "lame" to you since you called it that?
What did you find boring and why since you also said that?
I do prefer more fight heavy shonen, which is probably why I didn't get on with this one.
My Hero had very little of that stuff, most of it was school and class, and a sports festival and school fair, training arcs and a glorified drivers liscense test, and a couple take your son to work arcs.
Then it had a gang arc abut bustin up local gangs and the finale of bustin up villians.
Vigalantes has had a lot of gang stuff too and villians also mixed in with undergound hero work and a concert or two. And even some punching people very cinematically just like MHA.
Not sure where your opinions of the two seperate and differ here though.
They both have a lot of the same things in them.
And Vig also only has 1 season with most of the topics MHA had in 8.
Give the series time to get to the "not lame" stuff like you gave MHA after 10 years of watching.
And yes I prefer big explosions, powerful attacks and over the top action. As I said before its my preference, which is why I did l not get on with vigilantes
You had all might punch someone to the moon in season 1, other than that most the fights were not "full fight scenes" but more like the ones in Vigalantes, aka efficent use of run time.
Compare 1 season of My Hero to 1 season of Vigilantes and you will see a lot of the thigns you care about came later from other seasons. Even the sports festival and shoot style and stain arc were season 2. S1 of My hero had less explosions, powerful atatcks, and over the top action overall though.
Sure 10 years of My Hero is hard to beat, but this has only been 1 season of Vigilantes, your not giving it a fair chance or compairson. That said i would easily say its 1 season has My Hero's 1 season matched.

Man this OP is great, love it for sure. Just as stylish as the last.

She aint feelin well? Is that aa cover or is she sick?
Eraserhead too this ep? Thats cool.
WAIT HES FIGHTING KAMEN RIDER THUGS!?
Hes also after the drug chain? Hmm hmmmmm.
So the Kamen boys can be off the recored if they act good.
Oh another bug man from s1 was their friend i see.
Eraser knows how to work people hes a good one.
Krab route? Drug rrout for crabs? Do they only go sideways?
Oh wait Krab Rave is a cop hero? Oh shes here investigateing too? KrabKop.
A solid start to the season ansd just feels like we jumped fight back into the things i liked about this series.
[](#yousaidsomethingdumb)
Looks like our little duo have found themselves right smack dab in the middle of an undercover drug sting. I wonder who’s the one pushing the shit via this crab route or whatever?
I think you mean *The Cruller's*
Can he get any more Spider-Man? Let's add literal wall-crawling.
What if he didn't stick the landind etc ( heh ) - dangerous!
[I genuinely had a good laugh at All Might replacing the Glico Running Man](https://i.imgur.com/3uhJSxg.png) at the Dotonbori Bridge! And since we're in Osaka, [we get to see a younger Fatgum!](https://i.imgur.com/EKtckfr.png) I love how he's much more pissed [about losing his takoyaki](https://i.imgur.com/uT6Qopc.png) instead of getting shot at. xD
[Fatgum is lucky that Koichi was there to catch his Takoyaki](https://i.imgur.com/aSoPsSN.png) Also, that scene is definitely a reference to the first Sam Raimi Spider-Man movie.
[That's definitely Ueda Kana voicing Kaniya!](https://i.imgur.com/Q3Awxiq.png) I recognize that Kansai-ben anywhere! So far, I think [she's a ton of fun](https://i.imgur.com/o9g68m0.png), so I'm hoping she's not secretly a villain.
I love the Kamen Rider reference [with the grasshopper brothers](https://i.imgur.com/rqijJoZ.jpeg). They even did the backflip into [a double Rider Kick!](https://i.imgur.com/z8ouYh5.jpeg) Too bad Aizawa can just [undo their transformation with one look.](https://i.imgur.com/UXP4ZWT.jpeg) xD
It's pretty cool to see how [Aizawa went from capturing the grasshopper brothers](https://i.imgur.com/WMXfIhY.jpeg) to being chill [and having coffee with them one scene later.](https://i.imgur.com/a5DufwE.jpeg)
Man, they really had me going there [when Aizawa mentioned the crab route.](https://i.imgur.com/K9IpxW9.jpeg) Considering how Kaniya suddenly ran away to the bathroom, I thought she was actually a villain. [It turns out she's an undercover cop working with Fatgum!](https://i.imgur.com/iJXibGG.jpeg)
I'm so happy we get to see more My Hero Academia even after the main series ended. I'm not ready to say goodbye to this world and its characters.
Fat Gum can tank a bullet but his takoyaki can't. At least he was nice enough to recognize he messed up and shove a bunch of takoyaki into that unconscious crooks' mouth! Probably the last takoyaki he'll eat before prison.
Honestly an idol who is an undercover cop feels like a killer premise. Bonus points for being voiced by Kana Ueda.
Koichi Wall Crawler
Perfection
I believe this too! I like how Deku and Koichi overtime are slowly evolving into Spider-Man, lol.
Very fitting since Koichi just unlocked wallcrawling
Nice bait-and-switch with the crab girl acting sus, guessing we haven't seen the actual villain yet. And Koichi's getting yet another power-up now. His growth from the start of S1 to now is pretty crazy for his age, he could legitimately become hero-tier in the future at this rate.
I feel like he kinda is already.
He does a lot...mostly, actually.
He mostly fights villains, but if he was used for rescue and stuff where mobility is necessary, he could already be a support hero and side kick.
His quirk is quite strong in that regard and he just got a new power perfectly suited for that.
He is also very fast, much faster than you would expect - we saw last season that he is more or less on pro hero level.
"My little grasshopper hasnt been jumping as high" LMAO.
I got a little suspecious of crab girl there for a bit, turns out i was half right, she wasn't who she said she was, but also not a bad guy.
i quite liked the first season so i'm sure this one will be just as good!
Koichi is growing by discovering new ways in which his quirk can be used. I really thought Kaniko was the villain but instead she turned out to be an undercover Officer investigating Trigger. So the man with the scar, is that Hachisuka ?
If you've ever had takoyaki right off the grill, you'll know they're like molten lava inside those tasty octoball treats! It's like a right of passage for everyone to burn themselves the first time.
Also Crab girl idol/saleswoman/undercover cop/hero best girl.
She's a beautiful woman! She's made of multitudes!
Try to sell me the main series. I got hooked on Vigilante from the get go but never got into or interested in the main series. You can spoil the main series for me as long as I like it, tell me your selling points that make you love it.
Vigilantes is a more grounded to the street type story with things like drugs being the largest push for the story. It is fundamentally a Batman story, maybe early detective comics, just with a MHA twist. The underlying mysteries of who is the main criminal and the question of is being a vigilante, even if it is illegal by law, truly a bad thing. Just normal people wanting to be heroes
Main MHA feels like that intially for maybe the first 2 seasons, with the USJ arc in season 1 really being the point where it begins to shed the street tier skin. (Imagine the jump from Spiderman:Homecoming to Infinity war. It went from 0-100 in a single rocket) Of course it remains that, street tier-ish for up till like the major tipping point of the Forest Training Camp arc in the first half of the 3rd season. Then we find out the big bad (ala Thanos like), and now the rest of the series is focused on taking him down. And while i do acknowledge there were some arcs that were slow or didnt hold up much, id say the payoff at the end is great. In the largely worst recieved arc (School Festival), the appearance of a certain character paid of massively in the final arc. Like im talking dude cleared the debt, mortgage and student loan in a single appearance.
Because at the end of the day Vigilantes (at this point) is tackling a more mundane problem just with a superhero addition which is drugs and something most of us are aware of if not had some interaction with so we can relate better. MHA is about ideals of what is a hero? IS society to blame for villains? Is the current status quo the correct one? and honestly sometimes a meta commentary of that one line "But the one thing they love more than a hero, is to see a hero fail, fall, die trying." Its not as relatable as say "stop the drug lord" and not as in your face as "hey see this drug, it ruins peoples lives" so it does take some thinking at parts to understand what is trying to be conveyed. Just a lot of big topics whose conversation cannot be wrapped up in a single season. Id talk about the original question from the first episode which was "can anyone be a hero" but that is the overlying question to the whole series so ill just leave it.
(There was an attempt at racisim due to appearance quirks (i.e looking like a lizard or a octopus) but it got lost in the sauce.)
But at the end of the day it comes down to your personal preference. So if this did convince you to give it another go, ill treat myself to a coffee. If not...imma still get that coffee
The best thing that I can say in its favor is that if you manage to stick it through to the end the payoff for everything is absolutely worth it. If the primary role of an ending is to reward it's audience for investing their attention and emotions into the story then the main series understood the assignment perfectly.
It's nice to see the shows' pop art style OP is still in full effect, featuring our Vigilante trio (and Captain Celebrity) battling a giant Porcupine together. Doesn't feel as effective as the first OP, but it gets the job done.
I see Makoto has really taken to managing performers to the point of helping coach all the girls from last season and also helping get Pop out there to the point where she's even visiting an idol festival in Osaka. Maybe even make it a bit of a date with Koichi.
Our hero the Cruller...I mean, Crawler is slowly evolving his powerset! Or recognizing how his powers actually work, because he can use them to stick to walls! The best way to catch a train! Nothing MHA loves more than making it's protagonists more like Spider-Man!
Oh hey, Fat Gum! With more armor! Remind me never to commit a crime in his presence OR mess with his takoyaki, lest I receive a severe beatdown that I might not even deserve because said takoyaki is okay courtesy of Koichi. At least Fat was nice enough to stuff hot takoyaki down an unconscious criminals' mouth. I'm sure he'll appreciate it before he ends up in prison.
Osaka idols are a little out there! Like Monica Kanayashi AKA Kaniya, with Kana Ueda supplying her iconic Kansai-ben accent, who really takes to being a chatty, upbeat, crab idol seriously. Even to the point of getting her crab face REALLY on.
Nice to get a new Pop Step performance! That red vest surprisingly completes her costumed look. Though Tsukauchi also recognizes her, so that might be trouble.
Wow, Kaniya's company takes the crab thing so seriously they've even got a crab mecha!
Meet the Hotta Brothers, Ichiro and Jiro! Not only can they transform into scarved grasshoper karate men (ala Kamen Rider) but they can even do a Double Rider Kick! Too bad the moment Eraser Head sees them he negates their power, reduces them to being buck-naked, and wraps them up. It's not easy being a Rider.
Seems like Trigger is still an issue, especially to the ones selling and distributing it and experimenting on people with it...creating "Villain Parties." And someone who can work on the seedier side of things than the police like Aizawa might be the best person to get to the bottom of things. Especially when the mantis guy from last season turns out to be a friend of the Hotta Brothers and who were aware that he was getting involved with the shadier Trigger variants...not the ones for hair growth and performance enhancing, at any rate.
"Crab Road?" If you're sensing a crab theme, and that Kaniya is connected to it, you'd be right. But not as a drug dealer: but as an undercover cop who is INVESTIGATING the distribution of Trigger and posing as an idol to do it. Though she doesn't seem to mind the whole idol thing, especially because she's pretty confident in her beauty, the one thing she'll never lie about.
Pretty straightforward ED with our Vigilante Trio in their daily lives as civilians AND as vigilantes.
Crab girl was fun but also felt a little sus, I'm glad it was from being an undercover cop and not from being a villain there for the drug deal.
Poor Pop in that crab mecha, but surely it will go perfectly with no problems. I assume the police were keeping an eye on her in particular because they know if anything happens she'll probably be around for it intentionally or not.
The air friction at 300 km/h on your face for hours _cannot_ be pleasant.
It's also nice to see the Pro heroes after saying goodbye to them in the final season of BNHA. I'm particularly glad to see Fatgum here. I do like how Aizawa is sort of chilling with those two Sentai Grasshoppers lol.
I like how the Kaniyashiki was either a red herring or part of the drug deal but I'm glad they cleared that up within the episode.
Koichi improves his skill set.
Pop step has (now) fans in Osaka. Would’ve been hilarious to see her the two special fans from last season (in the OP from Season 1).
But yeah understandable, that Osaka is far away from Tokyo.
And I like Crab girl, she seems like a bundle of fun.
Well Aizawa. In another universe you were a detective/investigator XD
That takoyaki scene was obviously a reference to the Spider-Man movie with Tobey MacGuire and I love it!
Was suspicious about Kaniko but turns out she's just an undercover cop. I like her "heike crab" catch phrase, lol.
My goat Aizawa is in the scene collecting info about the trigger drug. Those grasshopper bros were funny. "My little grasshopper isn't jumping as high" 😂
You know, I thought they were about to turn this into the festival episode for Koichi and Kazuho, but instead they've jumped forward and made it the giving her crabs episode.

Biggest mystery this season will be how KD makes his comeback. Will he even have any reason to?
I hadn't fully considered that normies aren't allowed to use their Quirks at all, I figured they just couldn't use them to fight crime. That's unreasonable, and should change. There should be ways for normal people to use their powers freely, so long as they follow various safety regulations, like land speed powers would have to coexist with existing traffic like bikes or skateboards do, and flight powers would have to stay within reasonable flight corridors to avoid collisions, and laser eyes would have to avoid any situation where someone else could potentially be in the way of them.
For more evident uses of quirks, you need to get a license for them. Usually it's a work license. Not just hero ones, but even other professions can get quirks approved for use depending on the situation. Ochako originally thought about joining her dad's construction work when she was little, which could certainly use her anti-gravity quirk.
The ED is peak though. Minimal animation, but I love seeing the trio on their daily vigilante acts, doing good out of their heart. Incredibly atmospheric accompanied by a great song.
The characters continue to be the best part of this franchise. I'm looking forward to Crab Cop doing her thing.
I'll be honest, not the most engaging of first episodes. Felt like the narrative flow wasn't steady with plot bits scattered around.
Most of the fights happen in alleyways, rooftops, and cramped urban spaces. Our protagonists are not bound by the strict regulations that professional heroes are required to abide and can thus form mutually beneficial relationships with characters that would otherwise be classified as "villains" by the public. This episode is also another reason why I love Aizawa's character so much. While he is a professional hero, he operates in a "grey area" and has the prudence to assess a person's character traits for who they really are, rather than viewing things from a black and white stance.
I'm really happy to see Pop Step and Koichi again, doing what they do best. Idol shows! Wait, what? Heh it was a fun episode all around and as usual, hearing Ikumi Hasegawa's voice is heavenly. Also, seeing our favorite pro heroes again is still a big treat for MHA fans. Then we got the cool new crap cop Rin Tohsaka lol.
I loved the ED a lot. It was just still images but it feels way more grounded. It was drawn in a perspective of every day people seeing heroes and vigilantes around them. It felt real in a way. Along with the very nostalgic sounding music. I can't wait for more episodes!
