Ever watch something so bad, that it "reset" your standards?
Just finished watching an anime, and it was so terrible that it really opened my eyes and made me realize just how bad a series could truly get.
Like, I think no matter what I watch from now on, I will be less harsh and appreciate things like the writing more, even if it's not perfect.
My eyes have been opened, and I've had an epiphany, it was that bad. I actually had to raise my previously 1/10 shows in my list, because it was just insulting to have this anime on the same level as those.

Of course this might change if they decide to adapt more.
For what it's worth sub-par but campy is fine- that's a good time.
You wont be same again
You would think this is where fanfictions should come in clutch or something, but that’s never the case
Or maybe it was School Days or Togainu.
Or maybe it was School Days or Togainu.
Edit: I stopped watching after ep3, I wasn't even aware of the controversy going on. The anime just felt... Off some reason I stopped watching.
The pacing is absolutely god awful. Its so slow, with so little happening, you wonder why you're even watching. You'd probably see more action happen if you watched grass grow. In one episode, the entire plot of the episode was "heyo the heroes are coming now" and then the next episode was "heyo the heroes are here now" and then the next episode after that is when they finally actually started doing something.
Saitama is also another big elephant in the room, he gets so little screentime. A lot of episodes just threw like 30 seconds of him making some hollow one-liner at the end of the episode that had no feeling in it. We didn't get a lot of his usual shenanigans.
In my opinion, Garou, King, and Child Emperor were the stars of the show in this season. Nobody else really did anything. Garou had his own alright side story going on while the rest of the plot moved slower than tectonic plates, King was just funny to watch, and Child Emperor moved the actual plot along later in the season once they finally got around to doing something.
The ending was also rather unimpressive. One of the biggest points of this show is that it's comical to build up this impressive villain and then have them get one shot by some guy messing around. But the villain we spend the majority of the season paying attention to doesn't even interact with Saitama once, instead Saitama fights the big bad that hardly even gets a mention until that ending.
So in short, don't watch this season, not only because the animation is a lot worse than it really should be (not on the animators themselves, just corporate greed), but also because the enjoyable parts of this season have absolutely nothing to do with the main plot where the majority of the time is spent moving along at a snails pace. I did very much enjoy King, the diner scene was perfect, but it's a diamond in the sad sad rough.
Edit: I'm misremembering, the King diner scene was actually a fan animation from 2 years ago that I watched after Season 3 came out... King Vs Assassins by Vriand XO, my favorite part of season 3 wasn't even in the show...
I feel attacked.

The Gundam Build Fighters dub is so bad that it lowered my bar for what I consider a decent enough dub. I've watched some bad dubs but this one is truly terrible and the only time I've changed a second screen anime to the sub. A bad Crunchyroll/Sentai/BangZoom simuldub is MILES ahead of this piece of shit.
Of course, I am wrong sometimes but it's usually me skipping a show I should have watched, rather than the other way around.
I gave it up when I realized the MC was never going to improve and that the rest of the cast was just going to endure and enable him at every step. The entire thing is just rom/com levels of manufactured conflict and contrivance and it was exhausting.
I saw enough that I chose to look it up and was glad I gave in and called it quits.
The former made me quit anime until Chainsaw Man came out, reigniting my love and the latter I watched as a young teenager and was what taught me “ooh…anime can be bad?”
As it stands, it’s honestly just ok. I’ve seen far worse.
Now I have a new problem, I finished Higurashi 😭 tf do I do now.
That being said, I noped out of Watamote midway through episode 2 and I tend to stick hard to the three episode minimum rule
I've been doing it this way for over a decade. I've even gone out of my way to watch every entry on MAL with a rating of 4.00 or lower, checking each year to see if anything was dropped below that mark while I was remaining in blissful ignorance. That's how I found out about my current champion of crap called Sabiiro no Armor: Reimei, which I thoroughly advise that anyone who reads this paragraph should promptly and immediately forget its existence. That thing is even worse than Ex-Arm and Gibiate put together.
* Art: Rusted Armors uses Flash for a significant part of the runtime. I shit you not. Even Gibiate wasn't that incompetent.
* Voice acting: For all its faults, Gibiate had a full cast of professional seiyuu. With Rusted Armors, the majority of the cast only has that as their sole acting credit. Not only that, but all but one were members of a male idol group.
* Animation: I can say many things about what terrors Gibiate has enacted upon the innocent eyes of anime fans, but at least an attempt was made. Rusted Armors barely attempted to animate *legs* even in fight scenes.
* Script: Gibiate was a full original work, so the incompetent writing can be handwaved away with no further comment. Rusted Armors is an adaptation of a stage play with multiple decades of performance history. And they couldn't even adapt that properly.
* Sound: From music to foley, Rusted Armors was such a disaster that I had to mute the audio in order to endure even one more episode. It was horrid enough that I'm sure it can be used in coma wards as adverse therapy, as even they would wake up in order to look for the remote.
* Entertainment factor: Whether we like it or not, Gibiate had this strange charisma to it, like watching fifteen trains crash into one another. Rusted Armors was so bland and uninteresting that I did something that I rarely do: I watched it on 4x speed for the final 6 episodes.
Even for all of the sins of Gibiate, I have regretfully found one even more egregiously awful. And for my own sins, I have to live with the fact that I voluntarily watched it.
I feel like I’m the type of anime fan who searches for “best-of” lists to figure out where to go next, and even if I don’t care for something as much as most people do, I tend to recognize a degree of quality in it. When you’ve been watching nothing but the “best” for months, though, you start judging them against each other rather than the overall landscape of the medium.
Personal example: when I decided to dive into anime, the three I was most excited for were Cowboy Bebop, Death Note and NGE. I absolutely fell for 1 and 3, but 2 felt weak in comparison - not that I think it’s a bad show by any means, but adjacent to the others, the flaws seemed more noticeable to me.
Then I watched something like Corpse Party, and I realized - oh, character depth and development aren’t the default, you don’t need an actual plot or story, a work doesn’t have to “say” anything or have a real purpose, etc. Something can exist just to exist and still suck at it.
The only thing below a 5 that I've ever felt like watching all thr way through was OPM s3.
More seriously, I actually think that no one here even remembers THE REFLECTION (and yes, the title does actually have caps lock on).
If you only watch good things it'll be harder to keep finding them.
Also one man's trash could be another man's treasure.
And kanokari is my guilty pleasure.
can't argue with that, as much as people hated on Arifureta and Shield Hero, it's still my guilty pleasures
It's an incomprehensible mess. I feel other sure are able to lure you in a bit pretending they're okay, this one doesn't even have that going for it.
Like you can see from the cover it's already going to bad, but it's even worst then it looks. You'd think "wow classic her banishment slop" and you might be right but the story is impossible to be follow so idk.
I think it drove me partially insane
…and then it just never did. And got progressively weirder. And not in like good, exciting kind of weird, but more like why did they put this here kind of weird.
I still regret the hours I wasted watching it every week, thinking that oh things will surely kick off with this week’s episode.
I just can’t do that again. I realize why I’m so picky with anime nowadays and it’s for a good reason because there is a LOT of bullshit out there.
I never want to get to the point where I call a show bad just for having 1 aspect I don't like. Most shows I drop nowadays are dropped either because theyre just too slow and I wanna give them time, or they do something so egregious I can't stomach it.
