Probably a hot take, but while these new ones are fine, I actually prefer the S1 designs. I think a lot of people weren't really fans, but I thought they looked pretty unique in a way that you could immediately tell which show they are from.

yeah, it wholly made sense to me on what they did, given the story is about an MC that is a background mob character while the true MC of the story gets HD looks because they are the capture target of a dating game.
Have they put out what the other guys look to be, because they better be with the whole shoujo filter or w/e they do on them, because now he just looks normal

TBH, the first story arc is the only good arc of the series. And they already didn't do it justice with the middling adaptation of the first season. I'm ok if they try something else.

It seems like a poor quality adaptation is normally due to a lack of time more than anything else. I doubt they expected it to be popular when S1 came out. And I'm not sure that it is, tbh, but the author had another adaptation with that Intergalactic Overlord thingy recently so they must be at least middling successful.
