How ever you normally prefer to watch your anime. The sub or dub debate is stupid, just watch it how you feel most comfortable watching it and enjoy the anime.

Well, for me it depends on the anime. Sometimes an anime has a dub that is objectively better than the sub, like Cowboy Bebop. Sometimes the dub seems better given the context of the show, but is just mid and better to watch sub. Sometimes the dub actors do such a good job, that it's really worth it. But sometimes there are parts of the show that are just phenomenally better in the sub, and you'd be really missing out if you watched the dub.
I typically watch shorter anime and end up watching both sub and dub, but Gintama is a longer show and I don't foresee watching it all the way through twice.

Sub

Think Sugibro alone makes sub worth it.

Most of Gintama isn't dubbed. The first 50 episodes was dubbed but I read it was particularly bad and episodes 266 to 316 was dubbed. I'm a dub watcher but it doesn't seem worth watching dub since most episodes aren't dubbed.

This is very helpful, thanks

Hulu continued that dub, and now they've got 150 episodes dubbed. Not that the quality has picked up...

I've found the delivery of original JP voices adds a lot of value to Gintama. The characters' reactions to crazy happenings are pretty important for the delivery of the show's jokes, and the nuance wasn't as good with the dubbed content that I've seen.

Good to know, thanks

Gintama is only partially dubbed in English and very inconsistently too (there's like 3+ different dubs for different parts of the series with mostly different voice actors each time? I've honestly lost track). You will have an easier time watching it in Japanese.
