There isn't one. All four are universally liked and very compelling. Feels like fans of one in particular don't dislike the others, they just like their favorite more. Hell, some of them are archetypes I don't generally like, but I do like the characters.

The source material is phenomenal. I like all the characters (especially the gigachad MC), the plot is interesting and well paced, it's funny, and the art is actually incredible for a *weekly* thing. It's too bad that it's not getting an adaptation of that quality.

Hopefully people stick around though cause I think you'll still be able to have a great time with it even at this level of production. I think this series is just as good if not better than Quints!

Once I saw Gekkou was on it, I was like, Yup, this is a skip for me. It's quite typical of Kodansha to push out an adaptation as soon as possible and not care about the quality of the adaptation itself. Sadly for this series, so many higher-tier studios are busy. I would have loved if even Drive did it because they did a solid job with Amagami Sisters.

I did hear Japan is loving it based on the prescreening, so if we get an S2, maybe we could get a studio change like with Quints. With that being said, I would like to mention that if the voice direction is on point and the sound direction is solid enough, I could see anime-onlies loving this series.

There is so much it does right in the realm of harem. It is a refreshing series in the genre, and the character writing is standout. Those that have issues with harems should at least give this series a chance. Either anime or manga.

As someone who likes Mayonaka I would be just a bit more cautious to not overhype and oversell the series. While having Yamabuki as entertaining male lead in harem is quite universal appealing trait for harems, Mayonaka is somewhat similar in structure to Quints, being a "mystery girl" type of harem. And it has it's quirks with writing and characters, especially the longer it goes. Some won't be that interested in the formula or see it as refreshing, some won't care because it's not a true harem series that builts to harem ending. Just saying this to set some reasonable expectations.

My worries came true unfortunately. When I saw the staff list and the PV back when it was announced, I doubted it will be beautifully animated. Sure I'm not hoping Cloverworks, Doga Kobo, or A-1 level of quality, but with the hype surrounding it I thought the production commitee will put more attention to Mayonaka Heart Tune.

This is one of my most anticipated anime of the season. I hope the production value won't deter anyone from watching it.

Since I have no point of comparison, being anime-only, I am fine with this. Almost surely a keeper. I like all the main female VAs, not quite as sure about the male lead's performance -- it sounds a bit too heavy-handed.

Does anyone know just where (at least approximately) this series is set. I have not yet seen any obvious clues.

If it is near Tokyo, I would assume the south or west coast of Chiba -- as you see nothing but water in shots looking out over the water. (And it is does not look like anywhere near Kamakura).

Could you clarify the ending scene for me pls? Not sure I got it correctly. So when Arisu got kicked out, Apollo went live and the girls‘ announcement came out, basically confirming to him that indeed 1 of the 4 must be Apollo. But then the words afterwards, where she‘s like „I can’t tell you I‘m Apollo yet“ and so on, all that must‘ve come over text and Arisu just said it out loud in his head with her voice, right? Like if Apollo actually said all that then the other 3 girls would‘ve been in on it all too and the whole school must‘ve heard it, which I don’t think happened. Right?

It was actually fun for me to find all the budgeting moments like panning shots and shoulders blocking the people speaking etc. Praying some time investment went into the op at least so that can be the visual interest every week.

I think a lot of slice-of-life romcom fans got spoiled by the extra quality that the animation teams threw into shows like *Sono Bisque* season 2 and *Make Heroine* that this episode really suffered in comparison.

The unfortunate thing is... if this is what we're getting in the series premiere, I'm concerned what's gonna happen later in the season when the budget inevitably gets tighter.

That's setting the bar high (at least for me), Quint is in my top 2 harems of all time! (It's either this or 100gfs, haven't made up my mind yet)

Here we thought the reason he's searching for Apollo was a lovestruck boy looking for his lost love. Turned out he just wanted to get rid of the evidence of him being a cringelord as that is unbecoming of a Yamabuki.

This show has shades of Quints with Arisu making a promise with a girl from his past and finding her. Interestingly enough, there are a couple Quints alumni in the cast. For example, Shinobu is voiced by Miku's VA.

Granted it's probably just trying in part to cover up him being more emotionally vulnerable than I think he was comfortable with...but finding out the feeling was, at the time, mutual was probably not what he was expecting and might change how he viewed it. Maybe.

A Harem romcom for all the ASMR lovers out there!

Sometimes all we need in life, at pivotal moments in our lives, is that one, single, voice that reassures and makes us feel better...and how far would you go to chase that voice? Tune into the Midnight Heart and find out.

Furin High has gone co-ed, which would be an adjustment for most kids, but the biggest adjustment will probably be having Yamabuki Arisu of the wealthy Yamabuki family in attendance. The man won't settle for teachers flubbing their introduction, he won't settle for anything less than the best, and he's willing to talk about his excrement like they'll be God's Gift to toilets. But what he's most focused on in high school is finding one girl: Apollo, the voice of his youth who helped get him through a tough time and whom he knows should be at this school.

Making girls say "I love you" is a bold challenge, but Rikka (Momoko Seto!) takes up the challenge! Yet it's when Yamabuki overhears the broadcast club's announcement, and here's the voice behind it, that he immediately knows where Apollo is...only instead he finds four girls.

All the girls in the broadcast club are aiming to go pro with their vocal talent: Club President Rikka (Momoko Seto!) who aspires to be a singer and has the same kind of voice as Apollo! Vice-President Uzuki (Miku Ito!) the aspiring anchor with similar intonation and pronounciation as Apollo! Iko (Sayumi Suzushiro!) who aspires to be a VTuber and has a similar whispery way of speaking as Apollo! And Nene (Rumi Ookubo!) who aspires to be a voice actress and in true tsundere fashion has the same angry tone as Apollo! Who is the true Apollo? Yamabuki is going to join the club, even as their errand boy, to find out. He's already off to a great start by making them all say they love him.

But don't mistake this for a quest of finding lost love...yes, Yamabuki DID confess to Apollo during her broadcast, but he ended up realizing how insane it is to confess over radio to a girl you've never met and now seeks to erase all record of his confession from existence. What a romantic.

Though despite all the girls having the professional aspirations that Apollo longed for...none of them quite measure up. Uzuki has a beautiful and pleasant voice but constantly flubs her scripts, Nene is talented and has the same favorite manga as Apollo but keeps replacing words when reciting lines, Iko is way too casual as a VTuber, and I'm sure Rikka has something holding her back as a singer. None of these girls are measuring up to their potential...or to what Yamabuki expects from Apollo.

Because, at the heart of it, Yamabuki and Apollo made a promise to work together to achieve their dream...and Yamabuki intends to fulfill that promise, and find her, even if it means he has to carry these girls too success whether they want his help or not. And Apollo herself even sends a direct message to Yamabuki, confirming his suspicion that she's at this school...and the "I love you" she always said towards her audience? Was intended for him and him alone!

I've heard a lot of good things about the manga, so I checked this out. It was pretty fun! The premise + Yamabuki and Apollo's backstory feels unique to me, but I also don't read/watch a lot of romance so I may be clueless. I like the characters so far. The MC is kind of a cringy loser (affectionate). The girls are cute.

The animation is a bit inconsistent sometimes, but I don't mind it too much, the show is still enjoyable for me. It also helps that I haven't read the manga, so I don't have a point of comparison. I'm planning on reading the manga once the show is over, though

Yamabuki might come across as a lunatic, but when you consider the moment he was in and Apollo's, it's impossible not to attribute enormous emotional value to it; it's basically sacrificing everything and more for a dream he never forgot.

I just thought the anime (I haven't read the manga) seemed a bit stiff, and the ending theme was just a recap of the episode, but the show seems good.

During Yamabuki‘s 1st scene I was like hell nah, please don’t be fucking chitose 2.0, but I kinda got used to him over the episode. It helps that at least his fellow classmates realize how much of w cringe lord he is, instead of treating him like a king. Though I would‘ve prefered it if he wasn’t a rich af kid, would be even funnier having a normal guy with a god complex, instead of a guy born with a golden spoon, but at least that background kinda explains his unnaturally high self esteem.

The production values are indeed not that great, but imo people here are exagerating and dooming way too hard, it’s still definitely serviceable and okay to watch.

About the girls, I‘d personally currently rate them like Rikka>Shinobu>>>Iko>>Nene. In a perfect harem show you‘d like them all equally, but I get that that’s an incredibly tall order.

Overall nice show, will keep watching.

I also thought of Chitose when I watched this episode. If Chiramune only had a slice of the irony and self awareness from this show, it would actually be watchable.

It's good that not the whole world is bending to his will only to make Arisu look good. It is a million times more enjoyable than Chitose's pseudophilosophical mirror image masturbation.

And yes I also wrote about how the difference for me (what made me drop Chitose but not this one) is in large part how people treat him. Like when they kicked him out of the room, *Shut up, dumbass!*

Man, the animation is *rough* in this one. It reminded me of old crappy Flash animations in many places, what with the way they shamelessly re-used the exact same profile and three-quarter faces over and over and over and over again. There was even at least one scene where they "animated" Yamabuki by just rotating his head back and forth, like it's South Park or something.

The show itself... well, it's apparently about the cringiest of cringelords on a quest to find a streamer he's been stalking since middle school.

Now, while the MC speedran his way from potentially cute love interest to utterly unlikeable cringelord the instant he opened his mouth, I do kinda like it how literally everyone else in the school treats him like the idiot he is. A harem protagonist though? Seems like one of those shows where the real winners are the girls who avoid him.

It would absolutely make my day if the end result of his search is that he really just always was a parasocial fan and whoever Apollo is definitely doesn't want anything to do with him.

I was expecting higher production values for this with a manga thats popular from what i heard.

Still, it’s kinda interesting. MC doesn’t seem like the usual generic type and this is one of the few times where i wouldn’t mind the first girl win, in this case Rikka. Like her and Uzuki the most, shy girl is ok and as expected twintail is the annoying tsundere type who i hope doesn’t win but she probably will anyway.

From just the episode alone I know this is a special harem even if that sounds ridiculous. The MC's personality is nothing I expected and that's a good thing. The production values are not really out there and I feel like the writing is above the visuals. In a show that HAS to have attractive cast you can't allow for faces to be skewed or proportions, and I'm afraid I noticed that a lot in this premiere. I am probably going to give it 3 episodes and then switch to manga.

Not gonna lie, early into this episode I thought "Oh damn, is he Chitose #2?" (I dropped Chitose in the first episode because MC was atrocious), but this one is much better; The difference between them is mostly how they're perceived. Chitose says "I am a perfect human being, and God's gifts to women!" and all the girls are like "Ooh, God's gift to women, please grant me your holy seed!"... This one says "I am a perfect human being, and God's gifts to women", and the girls are like "Shut up, dumbass!", and the boys tell him to stop giving them a bad rep!

The adaptation is decent enough for me as a manga reader to enjoy it. It feels great getting to hear Arisu’s performance and hear how they did the audio mixing for the show.

Rikka, Shinobu, Iko, and Nene all sound great as I expected.

This was one of my highly anticipated shows of the season, so I’ll be happy to watch as early as I can.

This will be a three episode look and see for me. Not blown away by the premiere, but I was amused by the lead guy which was enough to carry me through. The series looks a bit rough as far as the animation and drawing quality go: not terrible but not great either.

I had high expectations for this series since it’s by the same creator as "Detectives These Days Are Crazy!", but... I’d say it was just okay.

The previous series was produced by LIDENFILMS, whereas this one is by Gekko, and I felt it fell short in every aspect—from the animation to the direction. One of the highlights of that work is the way it suddenly throws gags at you, and while this series has those same types of jokes that made me chuckle, I felt they weren't utilized as effectively.

The storyboarding and direction are just too monotonous, so I found myself getting a bit bored. The animation quality is decent, I guess. I just hope they can at least maintain this level of quality moving forward.

On the other hand, the story itself was quite interesting. The protagonist’s narcissism provides just the right amount of humor. The premise of searching for "Apollo," the owner of a specific voice, is pretty fresh. You’d think it would be easy to figure out based on the voice actor, but it’s not that simple. At least, I couldn't tell who it was at all!

Well, for now, I’ll watch a few more episodes before making a final judgment.

I'm not familiar with this series other than it was recommended to me as someone who loves Go-toubun, but I'm calling it now! [**I'm betting that Uzuki is Apollo!**](https://i.imgur.com/EdAOg2n.jpeg) They make it seem like it's Rikka, but I've listened to Apollo's voice multiple times this episode, and all I can hear is Itou Miku, who is also Uzuki's seiyuu. I'd love to be wrong, but unless they used a different voice for Apollo, that girl has a good Itou Miku impression.

Anyway, this is a pretty fun first episode. Yamabuki is definitely far from your typical harem MC, and the animation is pretty standard for this kind of series. Considering the top comments, I thought this was gonna look bad, but I've seen worse from Studio Gekkou.

Looks like this’ll be my Tuesday harem now that chiramune is delayed. Heard a lot about this manga over the last couple of years, solid first episode but nothing too crazy here. The whole searching for Apollo aspect is really just a derivative of the gimmick where MCs forget their childhood friend with whom they made a promise that we see all the time in harem series. What makes this one a little interesting is that it seems like it’s going to focus on the MC helping the girls become better broadcasters and the industry/technical side of all of this.

It’s nice to see a harem MC who actually has confidence and shit going for him tho, like buddy knows he’s rich and and what he brings to the table even if he’s an idiot lmao. I like seeing the confidence.

My early theory is that Apollo is an amalgamation of all the girls’ voices that they used to practice on back in the day. That’s why he sees aspects of Apollo in all the girls. Welcome back Ouka Shiunji! Nene reminds me so much of her lol. Best girl so far and she’s into cosplay.

Decent start, we’ll see if it reaches the heights of the manga score or if this is one to just read.

Expected the girls but didn't expect what kind of guy the MC would be. To say the least, he has a distinctive personality at least. I wonder what's his situation exactly besides being rich? like why was he so attached to this one radio host?

I wonder if all the girls are Apollo? like he thought he was talking to the same girl each night but maybe it was a different girl sometimes? If it is only one though going to think it's Rikka for now. She's also the only one we haven't seen doing/attempting to become better at what she wants to be.

Also going to bet that among the broadcast club, Arisu Yamabuki is the best girl. While true we haven't seen much from the 4 girls right now I feel the MC established himself pretty well. Unless the girls beat my expectations or the MC drops hard I think I've already decided my winner.

Up until the final part of the episode I was pondering the chances that “Apollo” is a 5th girl not in the club at all, and there might still be chances of that theoretically IF these 4 girls played a prank on this Arisu guy with the real girl sitting behind pulling the strings, but I guess this is not going to happen LOL.

No guesses from me as to who’s really the Apollo girl though just yet, the jump from Grade 7 to Grade 10 is way too long IMHO to guess who’s who from just the voices, and I would certainly agree that all the girls here are adorable enough.

BTW why do I have the impression this Arisu guy is even more silly than a certain Saku Chitose we just saw next door LMAO…

Man, gekkou have really peaked with isekai one turn kill onee-san. Every year their anime keeps looking worse. I feel like the anime is trying to accomplish something other than being a cheap show, but art is really wonky. One part had like no in-betweens, and that's ep1!

A lot of people complain about Mayonaka Heart Tune’s animation, but the bigger issue for me is the direction. Some jokes are played way too straight, like Uzuki messing up during the broadcast scene. I also noticed rough audio mixing, there are two moments where the BGM plays over dialogue, and it’s pretty distracting.

The premise is really interesting though.
