I totally get it.
It's a tale as old as time...a Hero's Party bravely enters into danger to defeat the Demon Lord. Unluckily for them they run into the Demon Lord's top lieutenant, Yoki (Kohei Amasaki!), who easily defeats them. Luckily for them, their Priestess Cecilia (Kana Hanazawa!) is exactly his type so he falls head over heels in love with her.
Honestly for a demon Yoki seems pretty chill and easygoing, constantly letting the Hero's party go (if in part to protect Cecilia) and also getting along well with his subordinates, including an attractive harpy girl. Oh, and did we mention he reincarnated from Japan? Yeah, this is an Isekai.
Even despite all the efforts in training themselves, the Heroes' party STILL can't beat Yoki. Even though, in actuality, they're strong enough to beat the Demon Lord by this point. So Yoki gives them a boon: leave Cecilia and he'll let them advance to the Demon Lord. Not knowing his real intentions, the party thinks they're basically abandoning Cecilia to death, but she's dedicated and courageous enough to commit to leaving herself behind for the greater good.
So what's Yoki's sinister and devious plot? Why, confessing his love to her, of course! Aaaannnnd...she turns him down flat. And then needs to take a minute to realize he's legit confessing his love, especially after he tells her how much she's given meaning to his existence ever since he met her...yet Cecilia for her part wants Yoki to use his powers for good and give living with humans a chance!
And thus did Hero Yuga (Ryohei Kimura!) save the world along with his party members. Though in-between all this celebration, it seems like Yuga likes Cecilia while the parties' sexy mage Mikan (Yuko Natsuyoshi!) who pushed for them to leave Cecilia behind likes Yuga. I smell love drama.
Well, Yoki took Cecilia's words to heart, ripping off his horn and starting from scratch as an adventurer! Even if that means rising quickly through the ranks with his demonic powers and becoming "buddy-buddy" with guild receptionist Kramen who wants nothing to do with him. All for the sake of becoming legitimate enough in status that he can confess to Cecilia again and make her accept his feelings.
Turns out Cecilia is actually a noblewoman and upon their reunion even invites him back to her sprawling family mansion! This relationship is already progressing nicely! Even if she only brought him home to advise against him standing out too much because of the current political tensions going on. Though I would have totally taken the job offer from her.
And would you look at that, it's her busty, MILF, of a mom Celia! And her maid Hayasak...I mean, Sophia! And in true mom fashion she's already gauging the new man in her daughters' life, especially when Cecilia apparently has a LOT of suitors (including the Hero who proposed and got rejected). That Yoki actually respects Cecilia's feelings and won't take the easy route to marrying her means he totally wins the moms' seal of approval.
First episode first name basis! This relationship is progressing nicely!
The OP is very on-point with the daily life and dates of Yoki and Cecilia, while humans and demons come together and co-exist while dealing with all their complicated feelings...but the connection between Yoki and Cecilia shines through.
[he lives with a super cute harpy servant, and only has eyes for a random priestess!](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/267bbce7a635.png)
I'm surprised in a good way that MC confessed without spending 3 episodes babbling about and she had just 2 "EH!?" and actually reacted thinking he was trying to trick her and not dying of embarrassment for half the season.
And it looks like at least both are going to continue to grow the relationship.
Fun first episode.
Or her maid.
Or his harpy-girl!
Edit: ok, they did a GREAT job picking all the VAs for this one. One of the best parts of the series is how good all the side characters are and the development they get, so definitely looking forward to seeing that in anime format along with Yoki and Cecilia.
My one negative nitpick is that animation isn't the best. Some weird, inconsistent faces in there.
Cheers
Anyway, this was an okay watch, seems like an enjoyable series watch so far.
Reincarnated as a Slime is the most atrocious example I can think of, where even humanoid characters "evolve" by going from solid character design to generic slop. So I'm a Spider is one that does it better, at least keeping the monsters as monsters for most of the anime, but there too the end goal becomes "humans with fancy makeup".
This is shaping up to be [a really entertaining anime](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/45239fb7b78f.png), so I definitely look forward for the next episodes to see how [Cecilia](https://imgchest.com/p/bp45o9n2n75) and [Yoki](https://imgchest.com/p/n87wnojlx7x)'s [relationship](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/4040ce1f83c9.png) will develop and [how Yuki will cope with life among humans](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/24f6a8a65843.png). I hope [his subordinates](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/10910ffc2ad9.png) will join him too xD
Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

Also the OP teases some more possible side-ships which I am also looking forward to.
> isn't bad either xD
And her maid! (Who I'm totally gonna call Hayasaka all season long)
(And Harpy-chan! If that was me, I would never have noticed the priestess, because I would've married the Harpy long before!)
excited for next episodes, already love the mom 😂😂
Though he also got rejected so she might have a chance!
Oh and bird-girl, his subordinate, the one who called him a perv
But so far she can only lose to her mom who is another blue-haired girl...does that count?
If this maintains quality I could see this being the next Banished from the Heroes Party Living Slow Life. Kinda has the same ingredients. Genuinely pretty promising.
The love triangle within the hero's party is Witch->Hero->Priestess.
That's why the Hero didn't want to leave the Priestess behind and the Witch jumped at the opportunity to throw her 'competition' under the bus.
Then during the parade, it was the witch who was clinging so tightly to the hero and pulling his arm into her generous bosom...
And so much more, including the Hero's proposal to the Priestess.
Witch is taking every chance to cling to the Hero, but he doesn't reciprocate and is just failing to push her away. Hero/Witch might be endgame, but it's going to be a lot of love triangle (quadrangle?) shenanigans before that point.
I expect a great deal of trouble, or at least hijinks, to come out of this. The hero is obvious the love rival to the MC, and the Witch will go after the Priestess again trying to get rid of her own rival.
At some point, Protag and Witch may realize they are natural allies and even team up pull the Hero away from Priestess.
The real wrinkle is just how much Priestess told her party about Protag. Like... do they even know they only won because of him? The hero praised Priestess for their victory, so did she tell them about Protag being chill and is now living as a human?
Because it feels like she didn't, and that's going to be a big kerfuffle when the Hero and his crew realize the Demon Lord's strongest subordinate is hanging around town and hitting on their Priestess.
Fantasy Maid Hayasaka ❤️
this one looks to be fun
Ahem, btw, that's a good 1st episode, and I already love it, but then... I can somehow predict what's going to happen, in a way, maybe like the usual trope of someone accidentally finding out that he's a demon, threatening to reveal his identity and all... Geez, I really don't like that kind of plot, if there is any.
Can they not just let him be happy without that kind of trope? And fux the hero. Anyway, looking forward to the next episode!
Bro really said 'i don't wanna become demon king so I'm gonna live trapped in a room all my life'??? Bro??? This dude's so fucking useless lmao. Never once considered he has 'fuck you I'mma do whatever I want' power huh
Well ig the pep talk finally woke him up to not be a mob
This anime really has like no music 99% of the time huh
Well we have politicking in the plot, so hero party mage who immediately went 'leave Cecilia behind' and looked sad when the hero praised Cecilia is definitely gonna end up a villain isn't she
Oh yea hero officially proposed to Cecilia it's so over that girl is gonna villain all over the place
Mind you it does seem odd that she'd be so welcoming of a lowly adventurer when she is clearly wealthy and her daughter just saved the kingdom.
It's never healthy to change yourself just for the approval of another. That's waaaay too much power to sacrifice to another person.
Like, it's one thing if *you* think you need to change, and in so doing, you make yourself more appealing to the other person...
But your primary motivation should never be "change *just* for someone else."
Like losing weight/getting healthy. Yeah, being more fit will improve your chances... but are you starving yourself and running five miles every morning just for the other person, or are you using them as motivation to better yourself?
Because that way, you don't risk becoming a slave to the approval of others. A new relationship just becomes a side benefit to becoming the person you want to be. That way, even if you are rejected, you still have your confidence and are in a better position moving forward.
And then there is this simp over here outright mutilating himself for a girl that already shot him down. Bro is ripping himself to pieces for a *chance* at a second shot.
Sure, we all know where this is going by genre conventions, but this is outright insanity IRL.
The humans going from unified to fight the demon king to immediately fighting each other was too real.
Another guild receptionist forced to do work whilst everyone enjoys themselves.
I wonder if Cecilia told her party some story about how she deal with Yoki, she looked a little nervous during the parade but that might have just been from the upcoming political problems.
I'm curious about Yoki's wings too, we saw him break the horn off Hellboy style but he might be hiding the wings somehow. Personally I would vote for that since it would allow for a cute flying with his girlfriend scene eventually.
Fantasy Hayasaka getting sent off to break a few bones of some poor guard, nothing really seems different there.
Also, that maid looked like Hayasaka
Youki is amusing, his personality is a little endearing although I'd feel off put if he'd yell that loudly in front of me just because he can now call me by my name lol.
I also liked Kramen, he seems like he'll be a fun guy. I also have a feeling Kramen is actually the guildmaster, he seemed too competent but also couldn't remember initially how to do the stuff so it must have been some time that he actually did it.
I was wondering what was going to happen to his subordinates but they appear in the OP/ED at the end so it looks like they'll forming a not-actually-human party.
If I got stuck being a dungeon boss/guard for a Demon King after getting Isekai'd and be stuck permanently in a shitty castle, I too would go fuck this shit at the first cute girl I'd run into.
That being said, Yoki's got my respect. He handled getting rejected really maturely and even when Cecilia's mom tried to arrange a marriage between them, he still turned it down of out respect for her. Amazing protagonist already.
As for Cecilia, I love how she can be very fierce but still very reasonable to talk to with. She's clear with her feelings and seems to be an around great person to be with.
Also, I agree with the other comments here saying that the isekai part is so unnecessary. Why can't the MC just be a kind-hearted demon who's forced to do things against his will? I feel like that's more intersting than someone who's been isekai'd. I guess that's how they explain that he's OP, but I feel like that can be explained using other means.
Not sure if I'll keep this one. I do like the aspect of the heroes being courted by different nations to use them in upcoming wars. I'll give it a few episodes to see where it goes.
He certainly doesn't look 21. I wonder if this means the 30yo-looking receptionist is 45-50 or something.
This was .. a bit meh. I'll give it another ep to see if it grows on me.
"Then I saw her face, now I'm a believer"
