As a manga reader, I can honestly say this is one of the cutest manga I’ve ever read. Like, diabetic coma inducing levels of sweetness. Even with the odd bit of death and destruction, it’s still incredibly cute.

Doux’s little song was adorable and I also liked how she ordered Jahi to give her headpats and carry her lol. It’s gone be fun to see poor Jahi try to teach Doux to be evil!

Togusa_S92026-01-08 08:49

I like the direction it's taking with Dou halting the war and possibly changing the personalities of the demons to match hers just because she's really cute and wholesome

Qweasd112026-01-06 16:26

I love this manga so much, Dou is so freaking cute. It's such a wholesome and good feeling manga and so far the adaptation has ticked all the boxes of the original.

LillySamson192026-01-11 03:47

Okay good was looking for a Manga readers thumbs up to make sure it doesnt go full bunny drop

Burnouts3s32026-01-06 16:29

"Oh no! Lady Doux is too nice and adorable!" I'm sold.

gsurfer042026-01-06 16:31

Little Nicky but diabeetus anime.

ThisOneTimeAtLolCamp2026-01-06 16:32

Oh sweet Lord my heart... it's even cuter than I thought it would be.

I've also been saying her name completely wrong all this time. I thought it was pronounced like 'Dough' not 'Do'.

Happy_Charge45672026-01-07 17:39

honestly same, I thought I was the only one haha. Been reading it like that ever since I first read the manga years ago haha

NationalStrategy2026-01-06 16:32

Dou is gonna take over the world with her overwhelming kindness and cuteness. No one will be able to stop her

Ok-Yogurtcloset-59602026-01-06 18:16

No god human or monster will be able to stop her kindness. Her dad wants to rule the world he will never be able to do it her on the other hand she shall rule them all.

fer_sure2026-01-07 05:26

I just hope she inherited Dad's kaiju form. The gap moe! Right up there with Bofuri's *Atrocity*.

TikkiEXX772026-01-07 00:43

They even acknowledge it on the show. That she could completely end evil if she's left unchecked. Lol

Im_Yoon_Ah2026-01-07 13:32

Zoltraak

Flaky-Tax-4012026-01-06 16:43

Dude i’m actually soft for this. the demon king’s daughter is too precious for this world and i’ll fight anyone who says otherwise. it’s the exact type of brain rot i need right now.

raichudoggy2026-01-06 16:45

Missions failed successfully.

May the next Demon Lord rule with kindness!

Puppet Salt should come with a warning label or something... It's way too useful. And funny!

Lulukassu2026-01-07 20:34

Jahi is definitely feeling pretty salty about the situation

diacewrb2026-01-06 16:46

The Great ~~Jahy~~ Jahi Will Not Be Defeated!

mekerpan2026-01-06 17:15

Not looking good for accomplishing the goal she thinks she wants to accomplish, however. ;-)

Mr_Zaroc2026-01-06 21:47

Those names got me interested.
On what lore/story are they named? Surely it can't be a coincidence they are all similar

alvenestthol2026-01-06 22:32

Apparently it comes from [the name of a Zoroastrian goddess](https://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=2079325), albeit one that ended up so minor compared to the various anime incarnations that it's much more difficult to find information on the actual deity

Since it has 邪 ("Ja", meaning "evil") built right into the pronunciation, it's become a popular and self-evident name for female demons that don't really need any other characteristics built into the name.

Purposelygentle2026-01-06 23:55

Jaldaboath seems to be a popular male version, though you see it more in Japanese video games than anime, for the same reason.

alvenestthol2026-01-07 00:04

Yaldabaoth comes from Gnosticism, and it's mostly a completely different case where the whole theme of Gnosticism gets borrowed often for games

Since "Defeating the false God (demiurge) to reveal the real God" is quite the compelling video game finale

The term "Demon King" (魔王) itself is technically a Buddhist term, and sometimes it's basically used as the character's name too, where they're never named outside of their title. I think that's closer to how Jahy gets used

tripleaamin2026-01-06 17:41

EMT Squared quality varies. Stuff like "Upon a Witches Death" & "Train to the End of the World" being my favorites from them.

I felt the visuals were very solid and charming. The songs during the episodes add an extra charm to it.

Ocixo2026-01-06 18:00

That silly hide-and-seek song was a really nice touch of them. I got good hope for the production of this anime.

SnowiiFrosti2026-01-06 16:52

the manga is so peak, cant wait to watch this

Purposelygentle2026-01-06 17:05

I can’t believe we get this and Tis Time for Torture Princess in the same season. Doux and Mao-Mao would be the best of friends, daughters of the Demon Lord unite.

tripleaamin2026-01-06 17:20

Also, for adorable daughters this season, we also have Kaya-chan from Kaya-chan Isn't Scary. Also Rirui from 29-sai Dokushin Chuuken Boukensha no Nichijou.

Though Kaya is more independent than the other 3. Any Dark Gathering fans here should check out Kaya-chan because the same director is working on it. Cue the joke of Kaya being Yayoi's younger cousin xD

Ashteron2026-01-06 19:37

There's also Tsubaki in FSF.

Ocixo2026-01-06 17:59

Maomao-chan is cute but Dou is just too adorable!

Rallymodeller2026-01-06 19:33

There could never be a Maomao-chan/Dou crossover. I think that'd be against some sort of international adorableness treaty.

Mr_Zaroc2026-01-06 21:46

How to end all conflicts: "Have those two ask everyone to stop fighting and play with them instead"

fer_sure2026-01-07 05:22

So far, Doux has a adorableness supercharger in that she wouldn't even *recognize* that a battle is happening. She'd just toddle up, heal all the fighters and go straight into playing patty-cake or tag (whatever she thinks is happening) with them.

SSjjlex2026-01-07 03:29

I am loving this anime so far but it has only made my desire for torture princess even stronger. Torture mondays cant come soon enough!

Neo_Techni2026-01-07 05:12

> I can’t believe we get this and Tis Time for Torture Princess in the same season

I was unaware TTTP is coming back! Ty.

cleaulem2026-01-06 17:15

When doux was about to give an order to Jahi, I said to myself "It's going to be head pats. I'm sure she will order head pats."

And indeed it was head pats.

The old woman's flashback with her memories of the puppies really got me. It was short and sweet, but man!!!!

This show is so wholesome that it literally made me tear up.

Boris-_-Badenov2026-01-06 17:36

slice of life = pass

Rallymodeller2026-01-06 17:38

My most anticipated anime of the season, and it exceeded my expectations.

\*Perfect\* voice casting for Doux.

Ocixo2026-01-06 17:58

I love that they also got Shigeru Chiba to do the narration. His voice is perfect for this.

gsurfer042026-01-06 18:34

The chapter announcements crack me up.

derekschroer2026-01-08 21:50

Kuno Misaki is a treasure, super recognizable voice, and Love it.

SYZekrom2026-01-06 17:42

A demon named Jahi, why does that sound familiar... Anyway, she and the demon king certainly don't talk to each other like Jahi's the mom, but that shot of Jahi holding Doux as an infant while beside the demon king certainly makes me wonder... Well, I'm sure we'll see the mom eventually.

Djbadj2026-01-06 19:34

It was a good comedy, even I watched it

Ocixo2026-01-06 17:54

Jahi wasn’t kidding about Dou’s kindness rubbing off on others. She’s already fallen victim to it herself.

I am curious to see if Dou will eventually change the demon race for the better. Why steal if they can get things through helping others?

Grandma’s story got me unexpectedly emotional. It was so incredibly sweet of Dou to help her.

Togusa_S92026-01-08 08:57

It was sweet when Dou said her toys would want to stay with her

detectiveconan48692026-01-06 18:03

I don’t think I’m going to survive from this amount of cuteness and wholesomeness. I barely made it out alive from watching Li’l Miss Vampire haha.

Ok-Yogurtcloset-59602026-01-06 18:15

Won't lie I figured it would be just a lame show. But it's just to damn adorable

LeonKevlar2026-01-06 18:51

EDIT: Originally posted on the Episode 2 thread

The snowman song in Episode 1 was so goddamn adorable that I did not expect [we'd have another song this episode!](https://i.imgur.com/9jwNh1d.jpeg) I guess this means we'll have more adorable songs from Doux-sama every week! I already can't wait!

Considering Doux-sama's powers to remove the Demon Hunter's curse in the last episode and [healing Granny's legs this episode](https://i.imgur.com/pcmJlZu.jpeg), it looks like Doux-sama's magic is really made for helping people.

[It's hilarious how Jahi is helping the Granny](https://i.imgur.com/KtB6LhX.jpeg) under the guise of gaining her trust to betray her later. I think she hasn't realized that Doux is slowly starting to change her, too.

I was already about to tear up when Doux healed Granny's legs, but after seeing [Granny's backstory](https://i.imgur.com/5KEr44y.jpeg) and [Doux-sama using the salt to give life to Granny's plushies](https://i.imgur.com/aKHOnrQ.jpeg), that's when the tears actually started to flow. This show is so goddamn precious but it also manages to tug at the heartstrings hard T_T

___Chud___2026-01-07 01:55

posted in the wrong episode discussion? What demon hunter

LeonKevlar2026-01-07 01:58

Got Episode 1 and Episode 2 confused lol

silkystrawberrymilk22026-01-06 18:52

What an evil child, possess the plushies to make a sweet granny cry

When will her evil deeds end

raidensnakeezio2026-01-06 18:59

Finally, fluffiness is here.

Rallymodeller2026-01-06 19:32

It is, indeed, fuwa-fuwa time.

Galinhooo2026-01-06 19:01

A few seconds in I was so afraid this was going to be an isekai.. Amazing stuff so far, loved it.

Rap2rerise2026-01-06 19:08

Nah, fam, I freaking cried when she made grandma stand up

I'm not going to survive 12 episodes of this sweetness lol

Mr_Zaroc2026-01-06 21:48

The legs didn't get me, but that short flashback of her life...
I am getting fucking old

Solracziad2026-01-06 22:45

The stuffed animals being brought to life to hang out with grandma is what got me. That's an illegal dose of cuteness and love.

fer_sure2026-01-07 01:06

It took *Up* ten whole minutes to get me where the granny flashback got me in just 30 seconds. 😭

Neo_Techni2026-01-07 05:10

> It took Up ten whole minutes to get me

Up held the record for getting me to cry the fastest, till Star Trek 2009 came out. Though thinking about it now, there is an anime music video of Ah My Goddess that shows Belldandy being taken from him that got me to cry and that was pretty short. I think it was to Heaven is a place on Earth

harry_nola2026-01-07 03:58

That short flashback is top-tier tear jerker ala first ten minutes of UP.

avboden2026-01-08 06:21

The rock slide is what got me…how tragic

iamcytrox2026-01-07 00:57

Same here haha

heimdal772026-01-06 19:32

Ripped my heart right out with the old womens backstory.

Remember there is a adult women standing at a mic singing that song in a little kid voice.. lol

Need to introduce her to the girls from that anime about little ghost girls.

Tar-eruntalion2026-01-06 19:39

She is so cute and wholesome, I am going to die

Mr_Zaroc2026-01-06 21:49

Don't worry Dou would never let that happen to you, trapping you in an eternal cycle of life and death

dagreenman182026-01-06 20:00

At last. It’s time for Dou supremacy. All will fall before her cuteness.

One of my most anticipated comfort shows this season. Really this whole season is stacked with r/manga darlings, but this and Polar Opposites are probably the most hype. Get ready for fluffy vibes.

NanDemoKnaives2026-01-06 20:17

The Demon King really reminded me of Edwald from Yuusha Yamemasu/I'm Quitting Heroing, I then find out it's by the same studio so no wonder I noticed the unique character design of their buff men.

I like Demon King spoils his daughter so much and kind of reinforces her to do kindness because he always responds positively. He doesn't realize his doting is part of the problem.

Poor Jahi has her work cut out for her but even she feels like she's not putting enough work, she isn't going all in and let's Doux roam so freely.

Isekai_Dreamer2026-01-06 20:41

Jesus christ, I didn't expect it to be so sad and hit so hard. This is like violet evergarden, the demon lord fantasy version.

SopmodTew2026-01-06 20:55

Absolutely adorable and wholesome, I just got diabetes 🥰

Queue_Jumping_Quack2026-01-06 20:57

Pretty cute, and Shigeru Chiba doing his old Fist of the North Star narrator bit too? I think this will be an easy watch through the season. Looks like another double premiere too, so off to watch the second episode.

Flanyl2026-01-06 21:05

Doux's only chance to become evil is if she kills someone with kindness. She would probably heal them before it got that far, she would feel bad about it, and then they would love her all the more for it.

Also, the opening theme song makes me think of:

Just need to change the lyrics to be appropriate for an adorable toddler.

karer3is2026-01-06 22:53

They picked the perfect name for Doux... she's the absolute embodiment of that name ("Doux" is French for "soft")

yakumbaya2026-01-06 23:30

read this so long ago I didn't even know it was getting an anime, but damn that was 10/10 peak fiction

CommanderZx22026-01-06 23:48

Reminds me of a mix of Time for torture and Sleepy princess in a demon castle.

adminsregarded2026-01-06 23:51

Aight, wholesome watch for the season for sure

tepattaja2026-01-06 23:56

Im an adult man...
but this anime is just healing.

chili012026-01-07 00:19

Very cute and comfy!

drunkencow2026-01-07 00:20

If I'm ever feeling down I'm definitely turning this on

elite-alice12026-01-07 00:59

I’ve regained my will to live

minnieboss2026-01-07 01:00

Cute but kinda gimmicky. I don't dislike it, but can't see myself watching the whole thing. Have fun everyone!

Snoo913112026-01-07 02:01

If that hide and seek song had gone on 30 more seconds, I would've died from diabetes.

Top-Remote45232026-01-07 02:45

GET READY FOR SOME DIABETES, FOOLISH HUMANS!

Finally, an anime adaptation of this beloved manga. It's enough to make a grown man shed a tear.

ArchadianJudge2026-01-07 02:55

That was tooooooooooooo cute wtf

djthomp2026-01-07 02:55

Geeze, that old lady's backstory was heavy. I was kind of expecting some kind of demon related disaster when it became obvious her family was all dead but no seems to just have been a landslide in the rain.

Very cute Doux making up for it a bit with all those now living plushies.

The puppet salt and Jahi being so instantly horrified at being under total control by another demon does show this to be a pretty dark world though. Not to mention all the war and murdering.

MrPrissypants132026-01-07 03:11

Honestly, with everything going on in the world, this anime is totally a happy place from all that!

FG2052026-01-07 03:12

What is this? This adorable ball of fluffy goodness?! I'm about to die from the cuteness of this show. That song that Doux sings is also cute as well. Argh...the sweetness....the sweetness is giving me a heart attack!>

DaveySlatts2026-01-07 03:16

gramma’s backstory had me CRYING 😭

etiolatezed2026-01-07 03:21

The OP We Can Do! is fun and sets the mood.

Phantom-Solitaire2026-01-07 04:19

Curious as to why someone of these post have the stream links to Crunchyroll and others don’t

danmarce2026-01-07 04:48

When Jahi was mentioning her plant to covert her to a real demon, I just started laughing, because I knew she was going to fail spectacularly.

And they delivered.

Neo_Techni2026-01-07 05:05

another anime seemingly designed to get us to have kids

CrimsonGear802026-01-07 05:08

Oh…my black heart…healing….

Lanky-Cod21592026-01-07 06:22

Never heard of it

kapave2026-01-07 08:40

japan on overdrive this season to raise the birthrate

ILikeFPS2026-01-07 16:19

Don't forget last season too, both I'm a Reincarnator and of course Alma-chan.

Davidspirit2026-01-07 09:59

Lets go Dou

Bronze_Banana2026-01-07 12:18

Wtf i had no clue this was getting an anime lmao, probably should catch up with the manga soon

ActualRound76992026-01-07 13:16

I feel like a Doux/Anya crossover with Borf and the demon animals would be peak wholesome.

AIPoweredToaster2026-01-07 13:43

Can someone explain why me, a grown ass man cried to both these episodes (been a bit down lately and the wholesome got to me, but it shouldn’t hit this hard)

coffeecakesupernova2026-01-09 01:24

Probably because you're a nice guy with a heart.

Volkaru2026-01-07 16:23

This is giving me great late 80s/early 90s wacky comedy anime vibes. I absolutely love it.

secret_tsukasa2026-01-07 18:35

omg so cute i love it.

Kironusu2026-01-07 19:55

What a cute show. If only there was a way a Japanese person could have an experience similar to this but I don't think thats possible unfortunately.

hbmonk2026-01-07 22:20

Very cute. Almost too cutesy, lol. But then Granny's backstory almost made me cry.

Disastrous-Talk60092026-01-08 03:43

This is so wholesome and heartwarming

Especially that plushies part, the puppet salt wasn't even supposed to work on the plushies, but because of her immense kindness, it moves.
