There is no relation between the two series at all in terms of the name. If you've watched the show then you should remember that it takes place within Saga City in the Saga prefecture of Japan and that the plot was all about trying to revitalize Saga's industry via the zombie idol group. That's why it's called that.

Even stranger is I recall that S1's songs actually got dubbed too but then S2 didn't for some unexplained reason.
Guess I'll be waiting for the JP BD release and hope some fansubs get put on...

It's only aired in Japan, you're not gonna get a good representative sample. There's like a few hundred total reviews, that is if you give the slightest value to review sites like MAL or Anilist (I personally don't).
If you liked the show, watch it. If you didn't like the show, you probably won't like the sequel movie to the show.

Hey you missed the part that its only showing in a handful of theaters in the US, so if you live somewhere outside a big city you may have several hundred miles each way to go. For me, it's only 200 miles and around 3.5 hours each way to the nearest showing, making it a total commitment of around 9 hours and several times the ticket cost in gas prices. I'm in a mid size city too, I'm sure actually rural people have it way way worse. Sadly a hard pass, even as a huge fan.

I don't like dubs much to begin with but this would be one of the last things I would even want to watch dubbed. Considering how important the music is to it, and in this case the Japanese VAs are the ones doing the singing too.
I'm not from the US, so I'm still gonna have to wait for some avenue to pop up.
Still slightly disappointed that this franchise kinda fell by the wayside for so many years. I really enjoyed the two seasons and the songs are legit really awesome. Part of me wants to blame the fact they got some big IPs for adaptation works and neglected it, but they still released original shows between now and then - such as Buchigiri, Zenshu or Lazarus so I sure that isn't the reason. Avex and Cygames are on the production committee so I'm sure things are just... complicated(now that Cygames Pictures are a thing I would love for them to take a crack at this). Would've loved for this to get a third season or something.
