Haha if we're counting movies, Reze arc is definitely numero uno

Fit-Land-68592026-01-07 04:54

Not sure if u did or didn’t watch these but your list could use Dandadan, Arifureta, Record of Ragnarok, Clevetass, Kaiju No 8, and Lord of Mysteries. One that should be talked about more as a peak anime is To Be Hero X. Of course taste plays a part but hope u enjoy some of these if u haven’t seen them.

yawnman2402026-01-07 04:55

I liked DDD S1! I haven't seen 2 yet, I am planning to watch it soon. I read vol 1 of Kaiju no. 8 a while ago and enjoyed that, but I still have yet to see the anime.

I will def try to look into the ones I don't recognize, I try not to overstuff on seasons due to wanting to stay on track of college and work, but I def can watch gems I've missed at other times. For example, I'm only JUST now watching Frieren S1.

Great_Refuse622026-01-07 04:57

I don't know how I would rate them but this post is gonna give me some damn good recommendations. Thanks 😅

RottenPingu12026-01-07 05:02

Not ranking them but every year I make a serious effort to find the underrated and overlooked gems.

Ruri Rocks, Bad Girl, See You Tomorrow at the Food Court, and From Bureaucrat to Villainess: Dad's Been Reincarnated,

Still have a few on my watchlist but these titles brought fun to the table in spades

MusubiKazesaru2026-01-07 05:11

The Summer Hikaru Died?

yawnman2402026-01-07 08:54

Thanks for reminding me! Added. I wrote this while tired, so I forgot a tad.

SouekiSennoSTM2026-01-07 08:26

I'd say that the year was decent. I would rank it below both 2024 and 2023, but above 2022 (which to me was the worst year for new series in possible decades). I wouldn't place my individual favorites from it as high as, say, my favorites from 2024 or 2023 or necessarily the same amount or variety.

The highest rating I gave any series was a 7/10 (I have a lot of 7s and 6s - my most common ratings for seasonals) and my lowest was 2/10 (Ubel Blatt) with Mizu Zokusei no Mahoutsukai right above it at 3/10. I haven't had an 8/10 or higher for a new series since AI no Idenshi in 2023.

I only watched three continuing/returning pre-2025 series and I'd say that they all were ones I'd place at the top above the brand new series of the year, so I'll provide two lists.

Top 10 (including pre-2025 returning series):

- 1.) Arknights season 3
- 2.) The Apothecary Diaries season 2
- 3.) Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon season 2
- 4.) Tasokare Hotel
- 5.) Ruri no Houseki
- 6.) Ameku Takao no Suiri Karte
- 7.) Sorairo Utility
- 8.) Gnosia
- 9.) Kowloon Generic Romance
- 10.) Kijin Gentoushou

Top 10 (excluding returning series):

- 1.) Tasokare Hotel
- 2.) Ruri no Houseki
- 3.) Ameku Takao no Suiri Karte
- 4.) Sorairo Utility
- 5.) Gnosia
- 6.) Kowloon Generic Romance
- 7.) Kijin Gentoushou
- 8.) Apocalypse Hotel
- 9.) Ballpark de Tsukamaete!
- 10.) Debu to Love to Ayamachi to!

Runners-up/honorable mentions:

- See You Tomorrow at the Food Court
- Leviathan
- A Mangaka's Weirdly Wonderful Workplace
- Uchuujin Muumuu
- Shabake
- Shirohiyo - Reincarnated as a Neglected Noble: Raising My Baby Brother with Memories from My Past Life
- Fermat no Ryouri

"Tojima Wants to be a Kamen Rider" was a standout anime in 2025.
