That’s why no one is talking about it IMO it’s a solid show but no one goes to Amazon for anime.

I'm about 2/3 of the way through the show and between this one and Gquuuuuux I have to say that the Amazon Prime app sucks for watching anime. The subs are white-text-in-black-boxes, and turning them on turns on closed captioning for all shows on Amazon AND all of the other apps on my TV too so if I switch to watching a basketball game the CC is still active.
Compare vs. Netflix which will remember my choices for a given show and default me to JP audio with EN subs if I'm watching an anime.
MusubiKazesaru2026-01-07 05:41
I thought it was solid, but nowhere near as well executed as Paru's work on Beastars.
JoeGamingAxe2026-01-07 14:55
I like beastars a lot more, but this one was still really good imo
MusubiKazesaru2026-01-08 00:46
I think its theming was good, but its focus was off. It felt like it didn't know quite what it really wanted to be and kept changing its mind.

How can something in "Prime" jail become widely popular?
There are tons of viewers who only stick to legal streaming, and I don't think that they all have an Amazon subscription.
Anyways, whoever doesn't watch Sanda will get nothing other than coals and teenage angst for Christmas.
Those who DO watch Sanda will get nothing other than teenage angst for Christmas. Gimme some more of that coming-of-age drama!
Growth spurts can kill! Watch out!

To tell the truth, among my friendships, Prime is the most widespread. It has more affordable prices than other competitors and offers several other advantages. Since they added channels, then, it covers a good part of people's interests.
IcePhoenix2952026-01-07 05:41
Great animation, likeable characters, super wierd premise, interesting worldbuilding, I really vibed with this show.
JoeGamingAxe2026-01-07 14:56
super fun and underrated
Zetafunction642026-01-07 05:52
This was one of the few shows from last one that caught my eye. Even though it's chaotic and the setting is pretty peculiar, Sanda tells an age old story about children and puberty and the joys of youth and the fear of growing up
JoeGamingAxe2026-01-07 14:55
yup its really good
Historical-Prior-1372026-01-07 05:52
One of my favorite animes for last year, I’ll be waiting for a S2 someday!
theGRAYblanket2026-01-07 06:10
I thought the ending kinda sucked. If I knew how it was gonna end I would have waited until it gets a second season to watch.
PeaceAlien2026-01-07 06:26
Really good show S1 finale is really abrupt though
JoeGamingAxe2026-01-07 14:55
yeah, it's definitely a weird one
ImportantExtension912026-01-07 07:04
It is my kind of show but honestly it’s never gonna be a blockbuster, which is ok.
olo_maedos2026-01-07 08:09
I’m adding it to my wash list!
Frostbitten_Moose2026-01-07 08:18
It's on Prime, so as far as I'm concerned, it does not exist.
VideoGamesForU2026-01-07 09:40
Enjoyed it a lot more thant he Beastars adaptation we got so far. Certainly one of the series from last season and a really interesting story with great characters that just works.
Maybe_this_time_fr2026-01-07 09:48
Eh, it's aight.
Spenraw2026-01-07 11:08
It was very very slow to start and almost dropped it. The messaging and commentary on japanese culture around youth and aging population was cool for a show thst wasnt that deep. If wasnt watching all the decent seasonal stuff I would of dropped it
ActualRound76992026-01-07 11:51
sanda was so fun and I loved the art style
DarkDevil10442026-01-07 15:33
Underrated frr
Signal_Minute_43262026-01-07 15:41
LOUDER
wawuwewa2026-01-07 16:21
was pretty good, enjoyed it but it left a lot of loose ends and the sudden stop. Threw me off, overall a good watch. If it gets a second season then i'd recommend it more.
JoeGamingAxe2026-01-07 16:22
yeah, it did end quite suddenly, definitely one of those "read the manga" endings

One of the challenges that I saw with SANDA is that it's on Prime. I watched the series on Prime Video on simulcast.
Despite Prime Video having a higher potential reach due to Amazon Shopping, resulting in a higher subscription base, from my perspective, Prime Video does not cater to people who love anime that effectively, compared to Crunchyroll or HIDIVE.
One example is how Prime Video advertises that they have SANDA. I found out they have SANDA through reddit. Crunchyroll and HIDIVE would do their press articles about what they have. Prime only did that once for Gundam Gquuuuuux.
On the day of the launch and during simulcast launch days, never once SANDA was promoted as their top most item. Today, their top most item advertised to me is Beast Games. Football (which I am not interested in), and Jujutsu Kaisen ( which I do not have a Crunchyroll subscription in Prime Video for). To find SANDA every week, I would have to navigate to their continue watching place to find it. The continue watching section for me on the TVs are the 4th collection to navigate to, requiring a chore to get to the continue watching section. I ended up relying on watchlist instead.
I find that we also see the same problem as Darwin's Incident in this season also. Only reddit tells us that it dropped, while Prime Video doesn't even advertise that it dropped whatsoever. In fact, I had to specifically look for Darwin Incident, just to find the search would show up when those two words are there... I suppose it's because it gets buried. What's worse is that I get Darwin's Game as a search result, but that requires a Crunchyroll subscription to Prime Video.
In fact, I don't even recall a YouTube trailer that would advertise that SANDA or The Darwin Incident is on Prime Video. That could encourage more people to watch it.
Shows on Prime Video are just like shows on Disney+ in my opinion. They do not get help from the platform that they are on whatsoever on advertising, so then it ends up relying on how good the show is in its entirety. This would require something that a lot of a large audience to begin with or are interested in. Without third party sources such as reddit or YouTube influencers, I don't think anyone would know that these shows exist in these platforms, and that to me is quite unfortunate. This is my theory of why not too many people were talking about SANDA: they would have to have known from social media that it is accessible to watch, and people would have to have a subscription to that said platform.

I started watching it on a whim yesterday and ended up binging the whole thing in two days.
Absolutely loved it. The premise is wacky and the show is bombastic but at its heart it's just the age old tale of kids going thorugh puberty.
Also, the assasin dude who ended up being a mentor (I forgot his name) is extremely relatable, ngl
I seriously hope it gets a season two.
Ps: As someone who went thorugh a pretty drastic growth spurt over the course of few months... I didn't die, but man my poor joints suffered lol
JoeGamingAxe2026-01-10 03:43
Yep! I talk about it in this video, Yaguida is the goat
