On my quest to watch more older anime, I watched the 1976 Uchuu Senkan Yamato. It started a bit slow, but I eventually found myself enjoying it and wanting to watch more and more episodes. Granted, I also felt it had issues that could be easily solvable (And in a way were solved by the anime it influenced, such as Macross and Gundam), so I ended up giving it a 5/10.

Well, I'm currently 2/3 into Yamato 2199, and not only it solved many of the problems I had with the original, it expanded it in so many ways.
In a way I'm glad I watch the original first rather than second, because it allowed me to like it in a way while enjoying the remake for it's improvements, instead of having an experience of "damn, look at all it DIDN'T have".

But now that I already have that knowledge, I'm in a bit of doubt: Should I ditch the original sequels altogether and rather watch the whole thing via the remakes?
