Can't really say too much because this was only the prologue, but I'm willing to watch more of this, just because I want to see everyone's reaction to Van totally not creating an independent nation.
Decent enough first ep. The cast of characters seem pretty fun. Might be a nice chill one. I’ll give it a few more eps.
or i guess the zero or something at the least by the end of it
How much the flaps need to be able to move, how curved and in what ways the wings need to be, how much flex wings should have, etc...
There's literally over a century of study and development to get things to where they are today - done by a gigantic army of people throughout the decades. Unless you're one of those people designing and/or building aircraft - it's all completely beyond any of our understandings.
Even something as simple as a sword has a lot of engineering in it so that it's strong, but not rigid (it'd crack and shatter if it was), can cut without getting stuck in what it's cutting, the dimensions of the blade needed to pull all of that off while keeping it light enough and balanced enough so that it can be used practically, and on and on and on.
Massive amounts of thought, experimentation, and building upon past knowledge goes into everything. Unless the idea is that part of the magic is how it covers for your lack of knowledge, it'd be a slog to even get stuff like bricks right and take tons of trial and error.
From the title, I was imagining it to be some sort of tower defense-like anime or something.
[Especially his abomination.](https://i.imgur.com/siqOgT3.jpeg)
Strongest fortified city? Is this the Rogal Dorn isekai I've been waiting for?
In all seriousness, nothing really new here. This episode pretty much checks all of the boxes of your typical isekai, including [having unnecessary slavery scene](https://i.imgur.com/F8g2yLq.jpeg) and the MC [having extremely useful powers](https://i.imgur.com/8F6H9x1.jpeg) being seen as something useless.
I do like the idea of making a fortified city so I might stick around and see how this one goes.
The reason why no one values his magic is because no one in this world has the educational background to make use of its abilities. They don't understand modern engineering, science, infrastructure, architecture, atoms, particles, etc. like a modern individual would. It's basically tantamount to giving a caveman the world's greatest supercomputer. It only has value if they know what they're doing with it.
As for the slavery scene, I imagine they could have just made him a homeless kid and it would have been the same. To play devil's advocate though, slavery was a really big part of medieval Europe. Depending on the region and the time period, there were even areas where 20% of the population were slaves or serfs of some kind. But I do think that execution matters of course, A lot of these fantasy series use it for brownie points so the protagonist can look good by saving some poor slave.
He should be able to do something very similar for all the other parts of a computer as well. The problem is software. You probably need a software engineer to actually create an operating system and the protocol for all these devices to function together.
He's only a really limited by his educational background and imagination. In theory, he should be able to make anything as long as he has the materials.
Yeah, that's my issue as well.
I think you can bring up any topic in a story, but some topics need to be handled with more care.
Personally also not a big fan of the "good slave master" trope
Otherwise, it'll be my chill isekai for this season.
Slavery and isekai are an iconic duo.
Rosalie was smart enough to offer the first hit for free.
The only things more iconic for isekai are perhaps guns and curry.
The prince was the only one that seemed like a definite no. But I'm not going to rule out tsundere after one episode.
Mr. President another BL Isekai has hit, though not from Japan just another world to another world weirdly enough
Famous last words from an isekai MC, Van.
It really isn't strange for a fantasy world to have slavery and serfdom given when it was abolished in our world.
Concur on the long title, basically functions as a unique ID now so authors don't accidentally choose the same name.
At least they didn't fetishize the slavery this time. It felt like more of a job hiring with extra steps.
It really isn't strange for a fantasy world to have overflowing shit rivers in the streets given when sewers were created in our world.
for some reason though, these isekais, which are clearly concerned with historical accuracy, always pick realistic slavery as the way to show that and never realistic sewers... hmm...
I hope you are aware that author Moon Baek Kyung has a new work with "[What a Bountiful Harvest, Demon Lord!](https://myanimelist.net/manga/180376/What_a_Bountiful_Harvest_Demon_Lord)".
It is even more hilarious and morally questionable. I really hope both will eventually see an anime.
I'm just amused the author has now *four* series all in the same world and all of them have manhwa adaptations.
There's too many isekai stories, can't keep them straight.
I guess this anime deserves some props, for using the old Roman tradition of selling your family members into slavery, rather than just depicting generic slavery.
It's kind of ironic that a series like
[Maou no Musume wa Yasashi Sugiru!! / The Daughter of the Demon Lord Is Too Kind!](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Daughter_of_the_Demon_Lord_Is_Too_Kind!)
features more slavery (of humans and demons), than most isekai series do.
I want to see a town being built almost from ground up. How MC plans the layout of the town, the different buildings and areas, the defenses etc. I hope him having production magic alludes to that. If it really is going into that direction, I’m gonna enjoy this.
Other than that, I like the characters too. Nothing too amazing so far but they’re not really boring too. The dad so far seems to be the biggest asshole. Hopefully the brother that saved him is genuinely nice too instead of having ulterior motives. Till, the Commander, the butler, Khamsin all seem like good people to have around. Also, with how well-liked he is, I predict some of the people in town may end up joining his village.
Also, if I had a nickel everytime Uchiyama Yumi plays a character really reincarnated into an infant
He seemed nice, even helped giving him some adventurers to help! Impressed to see the older brother being nice instead of an asshole who were worried since it all indicated he wouldn't be the heir at that point.
The right amount of bullshit I enjoy.
"shallow" (as official translation suggested) is not the right word I think, but I understand what it tried to describe and I love it!
Being able to do it without magic is only meaningful if it can be done at the same pace and volume with the same number of people.
If Van's creating a sword in a day, that's already faster than a medieval blacksmith, which would take a few days for a basic military sword.
If Van's able to create multiple swords in a day, like I'm expecting he'll be able to, he's a massive cheat code for arming up a military in very short order.
An intelligent leader would care about the logistics such a skill could make possible.
From the perspective of a Noble making stuff is what *the peasants* do.
The cultural bias is understandable, the attempted filicide is not.
Nobles always struggle to understand the power of industrial might.
Let's say that it can lead to some.. cutting exchanges.
And I'm sure there have been isekais with slavery even earlier than that.
Ooh the OP's nice too
Hold on this has way higher production than I thought it would as like a random isekai
Also the maids are really really cute
Honestly I assumed all the maids (As in, the ones we see doting on him of course, not literally all of their house's maids) would join him, but ig it's just one. Surprised the tutor and swordsman came. I guess the swordsman is just too stupid to mind social order and stuff to properly get permission to come along, unlike the tutor.
I was gonna say it's a bit sad to think about that little girl that mentioned (Or well, her mom mentioned) Van greeted her every day, and just in general when you move away from your friends as a kid b/c of your parents and it's not something you control, but look like he's got a grand sendoff so everyone knows at least.
i like this one more than other, others one just kinda unbalance (one too leaning to fans service, other one too leaning to gag)
Look I miss Apocalypse bringer mynoghra so if this can even hold a candle to it we are good
I think his treatment of the slave really shows how this is all likely to go. He wants to have fun and just enjoy life, but he seems too kindhearted to be willing to overlook the problems of others in the pursuit of that relaxed life.
I also really liked that his very first act once he'd bought the slave was to free him and give him a path forward.
Really hope he doesn't fumble that good will by never trying to free the slave again even though they're now removed from the situation that made him staying a slave necessary. (No longer bound by his father's restrictions.)
Haaa, I guess I'm just being quite sentimental towards things. Somehow, I feel those farewells from the town folks are so beautiful and well deserved for Van-sama. Well, that's what I call cause and effect, consequences of one’s actions. Van-sama chose to treat others with kindness, and he gets kindness in return.
And from the look of this 1st episode, we can see how a noble being educated through the Fertio family might have stricter rules than usual nobles, but the point is that they are being taught things from an early age, maybe even earlier than normal people. So, in a way, they might mature mentally much earlier than average people.
So... does that mean their actions bear consequences for themselves in a way? Simply said, if they do good, they should be rewarded, and if they do bad, then they should be punished accordingly, right? Or am I wrong? Well, I mean, maturity cannot be measured just by the number of one’s age, since different eras and environments affect one’s maturity level. So, one might mature earlier than others, right? Hmm, yeah, whatever.
Anyway, putting that aside, now I'm looking forward to the next episode, also the rest of the season already 😆 Can't wait!
Kind of annoying to have the inevitable isekai slavery in the first episode but at least the guards and the merchant lady were instantly angry about the father treating his son that harshly and didn't just take a cue from Van to not like it.
Van's laid back life lasted about five minutes considering the guards and the butler volunteering to go with to keep training him.
In the magic affinity reveal scene the Lord didn't need to draw his sword, he could have just picked up the crowbar the writer used to jam an explanation of production magic into the Lord's emotional outburst.
The hate for production magic is insane you need the materials and an idea of what you're making but that's it. Seems like this can save a lot of time an work, even forging a sword takes a while but you could do something more intricate like a watch or potentially something big like a house, imagine just pile the materials together and boom instant house. I just realized this is basically alchemy from FMA, we have the long lost third Elric brother.
MC's first purchase being a slave boy instead of a slave girl is ... progressive?
Well, the setup was boring, but since the setting is going to change I'll give it 1 more ep.
Till and Khamsin seem like they'll add some fun dynamics too, I got a laugh out of Khamsin proudly wanting to show off the seal to quickly covering the glove when Van reminds him that he bought it especially for him lol.
It's too bad his father only cares about power and results, he has a son who is very well loved by his citizens and very capable and yet wanted to kill him because he didn't have one of the elements. I was a little surprised Murcia was the one to prevent it from happening as I thought it'd be one of the four who will be relocating with him that would have intervened.
I do wish this was paced a bit slower, but maybe they just want to get to the village, I'm hoping at least.
But honestly, this was enjoyable, yeah, it's pretty basic reincarnation stuff, nothing surprising, but the main character is fun to follow around and honestly, I dig all of the side characters, even the really minor ones.
That other knight doing the sendoff was pretty funny.
Slavery, well...it's a staple in the genre, all the usual tropes are also here.
Well, I kinda hope that was it for this storyline, as weird as that sounds.
I don't think most shows handle that topic well enough.
Overall, a good first episode. I'm interested to see what kind of crazy stuff he'll build and what happens when his family finds out. Of course the new village is also perfectly located for a bunch of plot happening.
But it's still funny that they would send off royalty to some far-off place right next to another country...yeah, that's not smart for a royal that cares about his bloodline.
There is a reason royals were "given" to other nobles and similalry powerful people.
I like it so far.
Second, I was mainly glued to the growth of that maid the entire time lol, I hope this ends up a harem with the other girl eventually. 😏
Yeah maybe for you buddy, but can your people build a Rockwell international B-1 variable sweep wing supersonic bomber? Yeah I didn’t think so.
But Ike seriously. If the MC even knows how rifling works then it’s game over for the other countries in this world.
I wonder, can he make food? Raw materials? Completed products seems like it but, how complex? Does he convert materials to things? I'm sure we'll all find out soon enough.
An OP twist would be: can he dissolve or disintegrate existing things - no one can counter that! Army attacks, he disintegrate all their weapons, their armor, clothing, food - flawless victory with no blood shed!
*"I am the bone of my swor-"*
Okay maybe "produce" a pistol to show his father what **REAL** fire magic is like?
