Does Naruto get better?
I’m at the end of season 5 (the end of tears) and I just can’t get into it. I find it childish and full of plot holes/tropes and not very deep. I know it’s very popular and want to give it a chance. It took me a while to get into one piece too and was a great payoff. Just wondering other’s thoughts on this anime.

Also no, it only gets worse
It’s okay to drop an anime, it being popular doesn’t mean everyone will enjoy it
Well, it's shonen, so.
maybe is not for you
Go with the 3 episode strategy. Watch 3 and if you don't like it stop it. Otherwise you're just wasting your precious time
Naruto was my first anime, so as someone who watched all of Naruto, from the OVAs of Itachi staring at eggs to the movie where Naruto was sexually abused by a guard.
I can say that even back then I had problems with things like plot holes and forced elements, such as the children saving the village since all the elite ninjas are incompetent.
Overall, I'd give it a 5/10 anime; it's good if you like action or some drama.
That being said, while Shippuden does get progressively cooler moments (in the standard power creep kind of way), I personally found it hard to be invested. There was a moment where a character was introduced in a flashback (about a quarter of the way through Shippuden) that made me realize "Oh, I think this is the first character in ages who's had struggles I actually care about and doesn't feel like a walking plot vehicle," and at that point I couldn't continue.
The first half of the franchise is kids vs serial killers, pretty refreshing.
The second half, magic out scales the physical choreography, with characters able to summon Kaiju x1000 the size of a human and even one character being able to defeat all the countries in the world ALONE (the most boring development).
It got so boring that I never even reached Boruto, which apparently only got even worse according to fans.
That said, I'd definitely watch a Naruto remake/re-adaptation if it were to show up. The first half is fun. (The Rugrats arc)
