I would say Vinland Saga, because I didn‘t like Death Note‘s ending.

Vinland saga, but read Death Note instead of watching it

Which one is better? Truthfully I think Vinland saga will be forgotten in time. Death note will stay in discussions, death note just had such a massive impact on anime.
With that being said I think Vinland is better overall. Better characters, story, animation. Death note really only had two characters that were super fleshed out in light and L

Vinland saga is the better story straight up. It has more mature themes and settings. The vibes from season 1 to 2 change pretty drastically and the shift doesn't land for a lot of people that are in the mindset of "I want cool viking fight scenes and bloodshed." I'd compare it to Attack on Titan. Both series kind of click bait the audience with hardcore action before becoming a much deeper story that has more to tell.
Death Note imo is one of the best anime to put people onto the genre and show anime isn't just ninjas, pirates, or saiyans fighting and screaming at each other. It avoids a lot of the troupes many mainstream anime use which is one of the reasons it's great. It carries a more serious/dark tone and is one of those "big brain" anime that is enjoyable to follow because you're watching a lead and a foil outmaneuver each other in ways that keep the viewer thinking and guessing what the characters will do next. Plus the protagonist of the show is one that leads to discussion of "do the means this character is using justify the end goal." Let's compare it to AoT again. Both stories start out with a lead/"protagonist" that is easy to support but by the end of it leave you questioning if you've been cheering on the right guy.
TLDR: Vineland Saga is better imo. But I don't think people can blame you if you put Death Note above it. And no, Eren did nothing wrong.

Vinland Saga and it’s not even close. I don’t hate on Death Note anywhere near as much or as hard as some people do, but it’s not in the same league as Vinland Sags.

Depends on your mood. Death Note is a thriller with a lot of mind games. Vinland Saga is a slow burn historical epic which has more mature themes.
Death Note is way more exciting and Vinland Saga is a better story.
