The title might be confusing, so let me try to explain what I'm looking for.

I've been trying to understand what makes an anime film or anime series "quality media" (this extends to all television and movies, too) or whatever you want to call it.

I will watch a particular work, then I look for reviews to see if what i think matches up with what others say. This way, I feel like I can be challenged on what I disliked or liked and hopefully get some insight that helps me gain a better understanding of what makes a work "good" or "critically acclaimed."

The problem: I feel like many reviews for things like this on YouTube just overly praise anime films or series. Never really being critical at all. I'm looking for both what the work did right and what was lacking, so when I only see praise and zero criticism, I can't help but feel like the review isn't helping me better my understanding overall.

I understand at the end of the day, "good" is subjective, but I think there can be a level of objectivity when it comes to these things.

A couple of channels that I have found that I appreciate are: Serenity, dekuopioids, saintitchief.

Even if I disagree on some of the things they say, I appreciate their ability not to just nonstop glaze over a work. Does anyone know of other channels or places that can have critical video essays on anime?

Not sure what tag this would fall under, but here goes nothing
