I had my eye on this for the months leading up to it and had approached it with optimism for the premise and the art style. Everything looked beautifully animated and the idea behind it seemed interesting and engaging. I don't typically take in every piece of media for pre-release stuff; trailers, teasers, etc, because I find them to be way too heavy on spoilers, so there were going to be gaps in what I knew would be in the show. But from what I saw, it looked to be a very serious and heavy-toned story about identity, sacrifice, heroism, stigma, and prejudice in a fun and somewhat refreshing fantasy landscape. A story that seemed tailored for a very specific audience.

And then within the first 10 minutes of episode 1 we get slapped in the face with the obligatory pedo-bait lolicon goddess-who-is-actually-6000-years-old-so-it's-okay-bro-trust-me shit.

She then proceeds to be the most consistently annoying tonally dissonant aspect of the entire first episode, butting into otherwise serious moments with LULSOWACKYXD writing, completely fucking up any semblance of emotional weight.

It's all just so tiring.

I'm not even one of those "Every show needs to be grimdark and edgy and So Mature because I'm a big boy" kind of fans. I love light-hearted shows, I love humor. I just love tonal consistency more. And when the tonal inconsistency is piggybacking on obvious loli waifu bodypillow bait, it's all the more egregious and disappointing.

For those who have read the manga, does it continue to be like this or is this just an early chapters growing pains kind of thing?

EDIT: As expected of this sub, 29 downvotes, no comments, and 2 personal threat DMs in the first 5 minutes of posting. Stay classy.
