Congratulating Reze for winning the best girl of Fall 2025 of r/anime! Gaining momentum in the last few rounds and get the upset done in the final, her win breaks the five-seasons consecutive domination of the first seed in seasonal salt recently. Reze is the first girl ever to get a seasonal win who premieres in a movie. And with this win, Chainsaw Man becomes the first series to not get a seasonal win in its first season but get revenge with its sequels. Congratulations!
As for the pick-up round, you can see the results [here.](https://strawpoll.com/BDyNzMk2kyR/results), Nana Futami, Iroha Kohinata and Shiori Fuyumura get the final 3 tickets for the best girl of 2025, congratulations to them.

And now with the result, we have had our final 46 girls battling for the 2025 crown of r/anime ‘s best girl this year. You could see check the [wiki](https://saimoe.miraheze.org/wiki/Seasonal_Salt_2025) to have a review of how the seasonal contests of 2025 unfold and how all the 46 girls get in!
I would have a holiday in days so the starting date of best girl of 2025 would be postponed a little bit. And see you in about two weeks for our ultimate battle for the best girl of 2025!
changshiyixia2026-01-09 13:57
Also, I have noticed the discussion of whether Reze would be eligible for best girl 13 due to her 5 seconds in season 1. In this case the answer is no as this screen time is not considered as enough to be eligible. (And if she does eligible, we would allow her nomination in best girl 12 back then). It is a similar case as 2020 Spring seasonal salt winner Miko Iino who has about 5 seconds in season 1 of Kaguya but only gets into the main best girl contest in best girl 8 back in 2021, but not in best girl 7. So Reze will be eligible in best girl 14 in 2027 under this circumstance.
Salty1452026-01-09 15:18
Meanwhile Mitsuri Kanroji was allowed from *Demon Slayer* the same year her main arc aired because she had one scene with all the other Hashira with no voice lines in Season 1 or something…
ali941272026-01-09 16:30
Mitsuri definitely had lines and was introduced with her name. I don't agree that Reze should be barred from Best Girl 13 because any appearance is a debut, but Mitsuri definitely had a more prominent first appearance than Reze's brief cameo.
Salty1452026-01-09 16:33
I certainly don’t remember them if they existed, but I highly doubt people were voting for her off of that one scene. They were absolutely voting for her because of the new season, and if that’s the precedent then I see no reason why Reze shouldn’t benefit from the same loophole.
ali941272026-01-09 16:43
I'm inclined to agree. I do think the recency bias rule is somewhat silly because the results of the contest are so clearly tied to recency bias and whatever happens to be airing. Characters from consistently running shows benefit a lot. My Dress-Up Darling s2 airing so close to the contest massively benefited Marin. Holo finally won the contest when her remake aired. And a character like Reze with a huge fandom from the source material can easily skirt this restriction if a teaser of them is slightly more explicit. There are so many characters that debut in an earlier season but become way more prominent in the source material. It's their contest, so whatever they say goes, but I think it's like trying to drain the ocean by drinking it.
Pepsuber1882026-01-09 14:04
Who beat Makima and Power when the first season came out?
ClemFire2026-01-09 14:18
My guess is the Bocchi the Rock girls
Mons90902026-01-09 15:24
One of the few anime in which every character is likeable
RPO7772026-01-09 16:49
Ugh, i hope season 2 release date gets announced soon. And god I hope it's a double cour this time. As a manga reader, there's way too much good stuff coming up to only cover another 12 episodes worth of material (there's about 4 more Cour worth of material already written)
Korkez112026-01-10 06:13
Give us animated chapter 57.5 or we riot
RPO7772026-01-10 06:27
I read via the Japaense Kindle tankobon volumes which don't record chapter numbers so I actually have no clue which part you're talking about, but I think I can guess lol
Korkez112026-01-10 06:29
[Bocchi spoilers I guess] >!Seika and Nijika's backstory!<
RPO7772026-01-10 06:31
Yep, that's what I figured you were talking about lol
RPO7772026-01-10 06:35
That's at the end of Vol. 5. in the tankobon volumes. SEason 1 covered a little more than 1.5 volumes in 1 Cour. Unless they change the order of the story (which I suppose they could for that scene), they wouldn't get to that scene at least till the end of the 2nd Cour of a Season 2...
grexraxor2026-01-09 14:46
makima lost to power in QF, who then lost to ikuyo in semis
Boss4522026-01-09 19:09
It had to be Reze given how immensely popular she has been since CSM:Reze Arc's release.
danlong872026-01-09 21:07
I forgot, why theres 4 wild cards in 2 of the seasonal?
Zeralyos2026-01-09 21:28

Urgnu-the-Gnu2026-01-09 14:02
Congrats to Reze! Not my choice, but I get it. Definitely a worthy winner, probably helped a bit by the pool scene clip on the front page.
Now I wonder what that means for the best of year contest. We'll see how that turns out soon enough, I guess. I'll see you all then! Thanks to our dear host and everyone participating!
ali941272026-01-09 14:17
Margin is so close that I wonder if it did have an effect.
Lodju2026-01-09 14:04
I just say "meh" because i would have preferred Miko Yashiro to win.
Though i did know she didn't stand a chance.
I also have not even watched the CSM movie yet.
ClemFire2026-01-09 14:22
Out of the Watatabe Girls Miko has the best qualities for best girl, so I was rooting for her too and top 4 isn’t bad along with Shiori
Also as someone who wasn’t the biggest fan of Reze in the manga, Reina Ueda’s VA work really turned me into a fan so I believe the movie is worth watching just for her
Lodju2026-01-09 14:38
Wild i get downvotes for a comment like that.
I will watch the movie at some point but not the biggest fan of CSM in general so i doubt i will "get the hype"
ClemFire2026-01-09 14:45
I don’t watch too much battle shonen these types myself, but the non action moments in CSM keep me coming back
darkmacgf2026-01-09 15:32
I didn't downvote you, but others probably did because you dissed the winner without watching her anime
Lodju2026-01-09 15:39
But i didn't even diss her.
"Meh" just means " i don't really care" which matches the point that i haven't even seen the movie yet.
ctheturk2026-01-09 14:06
You can tell I was checked out from fall anime because I literally only recognize the winner. But as far as I'm concerned, all is right in the world.

Regarding feedback from yesterday regarding the point system, a new one will debut from Winter 2026. Using it for Fall 2025, the point system would be as followed.
It looks at previous matchups so scores for eliminated characters can also change.
CannikinX2026-01-09 18:55
Thank you for taking my feedback into consideration! I hope all the walls of text I filled the thread with yesterday didn't seem like harsh criticism, just genuinely thought there could be significant improvements, even if not exactly my suggested changes.
We appreciate the work you put into posting all these statistics every round, and hope the changes will help make them more accurately represent this tournament style in the future!
redlegsfan212026-01-10 06:08
I am by no means a statistician or programmer so I get a lot of help in making this work. We are currently working on balancing the numbers so that older matchups are accounted for.
The person working with me is not even satisfied with the new point system yet because it doesn't have the winner in first. We are trying to come up with a working system. The current points format uses a system developed by [/u/tsubasa_sama](https://www.reddit.com/user/tsubasa_sama/). I'm just someone who picked up the slack with no knowledge of what they are doing. I'm really only good at googling how to do stuff so luckily there are some people good at programing helping me with a lot.
CannikinX2026-01-11 00:09
I think you're going to have a hard time resolving getting the winner to have the highest score in the end in this case, considering Reze was consistently well behind Scarlet in votes in every round until a last minute huge surge in new votes. The fact that even with the surge Reze still ended the tournament with fewer total votes than Scarlet means her win should still be considered an upset, so I think that her ending up with a (slightly) lower score despite ultimately winning is an appropriate representation of that.
Is that not the point of the scoring system? To predict who is favored to win at any given point, not be an accurate ranking of who actually won in the end? Not having the ultimate winner end with the highest score is not a problem in my opinion.
The nature of not having a consistent voter pool greatly increases the chances of having prediction/outcome discrepancies. Allowing large numbers of new voters to appear (or disappear) at any time means that it is impossible to precisely predict the final outcome based on previous data. A predictive scoring system cannot (and should not) account for last minute surges in new votes.
oops_i_made_a_typi2026-01-09 21:06
wow, Scarlet came way closer than I thought she might. The show was fun enough but just way too one-note vs the Reze movie
APRengar2026-01-09 21:32
Dicta Striker top 10? I'll take it.
Clip from S2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYPXcUlK6_I
During her climax of S2, the animation, the sound effects, the music kicking into high gear, for an "unofficial" uma. I'm so glad the anime put so much effort to highlight her.
Ceryto22026-01-09 14:14
Congrats to Reze. She was propably the most deserved winner from the bunch of girls from Fall.
This contest did however seem a bit like a filler arc for me with the real banger about to happen in BG Spring '26 with everyday, as new anime come out, adding 1 best girl candidate after the other atm. Before that however we still have BG25 where I'm personally rooting for Natsuko, well knowing that her show is propably already too long ago for her to stand any real chance.
As always thanks to u/changshiyixia for hosting and everyone else for participating!
ImSoRyz2026-01-09 14:25
I never heard of the other finalist. Can anyone brief me why they got popular?

I can see this season got a thing for violence.
ghostpickleonastick2026-01-09 15:02
Scarlet is a young noblewoman who has a reputation for using her fists to address injustice. When she gets into an arranged-marriage engagement, she promises to be demure and quietly endures years of having to be nice to a scumbag prince. Then said prince decides it's a good idea to publicly humiliate Scarlet by ending the engagement; this is incredibly stupid of him because a) he effectively frees her from her "no solving problems with violence" promise in a room full of corrupt nobles, and b) she very thoroughly reminds everyone why her reputation earned her the nickname of "Mad-Dog Noblewoman."
Scarlet is delightful. She has a strong sense of justice and equally strong fists, and who doesn't love seeing smug assholes get their smug faces punched?
Nome_de_utilizador2026-01-09 15:53
Very mild season with very little worthwhile shows. MIAFOFT was one of the few worthwhile shows, with a good twist to the otome genre and the "villainess" role. The show had good animation and it was genuinely funny seeing a lady who loves violence punch the people who deserve the most every week.
81Ranger2026-01-13 12:31
I've never heard of the winner prior to this contest. Any reason why they're popular?
ImSoRyz2026-01-13 13:17
She's from the Chainsaw Man movie. You should watch it even if you're not familiar with the main series, it's one of the best animated shows
81Ranger2026-01-13 13:20
Eh. I dropped the main series very early. I'm not a action shoenen fan - I rarely even bother. And when I do, I rarely get to 3 episodes.
ImSoRyz2026-01-13 13:32
That's the thing, I'm not even into action either (usually into SoL / romance), but the movie still blew me away. Take that info as you want
81Ranger2026-01-13 14:03
Ok. Will do. I don't know if I'll ever bother yo watch it, but at least I'll have that as a point of reference.
ChocolateGoggles2026-01-09 14:27
Sad to see my queen in second place, I can accept Reze but she didn't leave as big of an impression on me (though I really loved her character). Scarlet is the perfect combination of grace and violence. I do wish there was a gorier version so she'd be allowed to do "more" though.
EDIT: On the other hand, the fact she did SO WELL against the center point of one of the biggest anime movies of 2025 tells me she kinda won anyway. :3
Eugunior2026-01-09 14:28
Why is setsu here though? They are not a girl nor a boy
ali941272026-01-09 14:34
Non-binary characters are eligible for both best boy and best girl contests.
AkiraTheOcean2026-01-09 14:37
Not surprised by Reze. Wish Fuyumura was higher though, Sanda was really good.
Emi_Ibarazakiii2026-01-09 17:25
She was my girl... Shame she lost so early.
(To be fair she lost a bit of steam during the course of the season, but she was still good!)
Boss4522026-01-09 19:11
Yeah Reze really rocketed in popularity. I wonder what mainly fuelled that though? Her appearance, costuming or character arc?
icanfly622026-01-09 14:49
Fair
HuTaosTwinTails2026-01-09 14:54
Just don't get the Reze hype.
nekopara-enthusiast2026-01-09 15:16
no kris from grieving soul?
i didn’t know the show with scarlet was so popular. i had to drop it like 8 episodes in. it had a interesting concept but it just wasn’t fun to watch.
Mons90902026-01-09 15:30
I ended up dropping it as well when they got to the saint part
Queue_Jumping_Quack2026-01-09 15:19
Congrats to Reze! Always nice to see a tightly fought race.
cppn022026-01-09 15:21
Congrats to Reze. The final was actually the first match I voted against her.
With how close it was I wonder if the clip influenced the result. Propaganda posting feels rare in seasonal salt but this was played perfectly using arguably the most iconic scene from the movie with expert timing.
Mons90902026-01-09 15:27
I mean aside from reze, I personally think luna ishikawa was best girl
Xatu442026-01-09 15:47
As god intended.
default0732026-01-09 16:04
Oh wow, didn’t realize best girl contests was still going on. And until I saw this post, I forgot this used to be a big thing in the sub years ago
BaytaCosmico2026-01-09 16:41
Damn, really thought Scarlet would win this. Not having watched CSM, this feels a bit anit-climactic. No fight for 3rd place between the Watatabe girls? Those two deserve a showdown. I suspect Miko will win but want to know for sure.
I was rooting for Reze in this final two so gladly welcomed that boost.
The 3 I voted for in the Pickup Round (Futami, Iroha, and Fuyumura) are all advancing to Best Girl of 2025 too.
Still sticking with Monica as favorite to win Best Girl of 2025.
But I want to support all of (and you should too!) Iku, Kurumi, Hahari, Yihdra, Lilisa, Otoha, Satoko, Konoha, Meg, Renako, Ajisai, Yamamoto, Hinako, Shiori, Miko, and Futami.
Come to think of it, there's a good chance some of these girls will get eliminated in seeding before the Best Girl of 2025 bracket even starts. Safe for sure on that front would be Iku, Lilisa, Otoha, Satoko, Renako, Ajisai, Hinako, Shiori, and Miko.
RottenPingu12026-01-09 17:07
Congrats Scarlett. You are an original.

CuriousBroccolli2026-01-09 17:30
Why did my waifu **Latticenail** lose to some basic "childhood friend" looking ahh 😤
Krystal as well...😤
My Awkward Senpai put up a serious fight LET'S GO!
At least Amelia almost had a solid run, if she did not barely lose to some rando as well. 😭
Saphir deserved better!
No landslide victories which is super cool to see. Even minor character had sizeable pools.
Maybe I should participate instead of complaining.
When is Waifu of the year competition?
Usodearu0072026-01-09 18:05
Letsgooo !!! Its nice to have a contest i can enjoy to the very end !
OppaiEmperor19962026-01-09 18:13
**Congrats to Reze!**
Am I upset at the results? No, not at all. My favorite Chainsaw Man girl, Reze, won, so that's great. Scarlet kept it competitive and put up a hell of a fight.
My track record for the Seasonal Best Girl of 2025 is honestly not too bad. My favorite girl I was rooting for in 2025 had never finished below semifinals.
Winter 2025: Alina Clover (2nd place)
Spring 2025: Otoha Kurogane (3rd/4th place)
Summer 2025: Monica Everett (1st place)
Fall 2025: Scarlet el Vandimion (2nd place)
Now for the last contest of 2025 (Best Girl of 2025), I hope Monica wins.
Common-Somewhere-7462026-01-09 18:20
Closer than I thought but its over before it started for Reze to win
captainfluffy252026-01-09 23:24

Also love shiori, Miko, and Hinako getting 3,4,5. Monster love triangle sticks together!

It looks at previous matchups so scores for eliminated characters can also change.
We appreciate the work you put into posting all these statistics every round, and hope the changes will help make them more accurately represent this tournament style in the future!

During her climax of S2, the animation, the sound effects, the music kicking into high gear, for an "unofficial" uma. I'm so glad the anime put so much effort to highlight her.
Scarlet is delightful. She has a strong sense of justice and equally strong fists, and who doesn't love seeing smug assholes get their smug faces punched?
EDIT: On the other hand, the fact she did SO WELL against the center point of one of the biggest anime movies of 2025 tells me she kinda won anyway. :3
(To be fair she lost a bit of steam during the course of the season, but she was still good!)
i didn’t know the show with scarlet was so popular. i had to drop it like 8 episodes in. it had a interesting concept but it just wasn’t fun to watch.
With how close it was I wonder if the clip influenced the result. Propaganda posting feels rare in seasonal salt but this was played perfectly using arguably the most iconic scene from the movie with expert timing.
(Hopefully I still feel this way when I get to watch it!)
Am I upset at the results? No, not at all. My favorite Chainsaw Man girl, Reze, won, so that's great. Scarlet kept it competitive and put up a hell of a fight.
My track record for the Seasonal Best Girl of 2025 is honestly not too bad. My favorite girl I was rooting for in 2025 had never finished below semifinals.
Winter 2025: Alina Clover (2nd place)
Spring 2025: Otoha Kurogane (3rd/4th place)
Summer 2025: Monica Everett (1st place)
Fall 2025: Scarlet el Vandimion (2nd place)
Now for the last contest of 2025 (Best Girl of 2025), I hope Monica wins.
Also love shiori, Miko, and Hinako getting 3,4,5. Monster love triangle sticks together!
