Using Animes in English Classes
Hello everyone!
I’m an English teacher working on a small teaching project, and I’d love some help from the anime community.
I want to use short anime scenes (up to 2 minutes) to help my students learn English grammar and vocabulary in a more engaging and enjoyable way. Most of my students are teenagers and young adults, and many of them are huge anime fans.
I’m not a hardcore anime fan myself, but I have some basic knowledge, and I’m very open to learning more.
I’m especially looking for scenes from popular and accessible anime that clearly illustrate everyday language, such as:
- Verb to Be (introductions, descriptions, basic conversations)
- Simple Present (daily routines, habits, facts)
- Present Continuous (actions happening now)
- Simple Past (telling stories, flashbacks, recounting events)
- Modal verbs (can / can’t – ability, permission, possibility)
School vocabulary
House and furniture vocabulary
Business vocabulary
If you have specific episode numbers, timestamps, or even teaching ideas using those scenes, feel free to share — anything helps!
Thanks a lot! 😁

There's certainly lots of introductions by way of both names and titles ("Aang *is* the avatar") with plenty of stories and flashbacks to provide different perspectives and therefore different grammatical structures, but most existing clips aren't going to focus on that, so you'd likely need to make your own.
I’m only responding because the pedantic comments that skirt the question feel so crazymaking. They asked for anime examples, said they’re familiar with the medium, and explained precisely why they’re looking for it, but instead of getting answer to their careful question they’re being told not to look for anime. Odd stuff.
I almost want to recommend Psycho-Pass, but it’s hard to confidently remember anime based on the quality of its English grammar. [Here](https://youtu.be/M8HFdwwE87s?si=EyjwlyA_8UVpUIaZ) is a compilation of quote-y scenes, but they’re mostly from the first season’s villain.
I’m sorry I couldn’t be of more help. I can keep an eye open going forward if you’d like. Your best bet is probably to search something akin to “[best anime scene](https://youtu.be/OD52Y-YjIO4?si=RPUh8W4RBwudsgvL)” or “best anime x scene” and use your own eye. I would struggle to readily identify all the elements you’re looking for.
