Wish this show got an ending . First show with that kind of animation I really got into. iirc the Manga didn't end either I think.
Mission_City_15002026-01-09 17:28
It has an ending
N7CombatWombat2026-01-09 17:28
It did, it got a movie.
pugger-champ2026-01-09 17:43
Bro what . Now I have to re-watch it all i don't remember anything.
N7CombatWombat2026-01-09 17:48
Yup. The movie is called Knights of Sidonia: Love Woven in the Stars, and it wraps up the story (the manga was also finished too).
heimdal772026-01-09 20:07
Didn't the manga have a bad ending or people didn't like how things turned out between the characters? Been way to long for me to remember.
N7CombatWombat2026-01-09 20:11
Yeah, there was a bit of an uproar, mostly around a particular event and pairing that had zero build up or hints at all and instead it was just like "here's the thing!".
kjloltoborami2026-01-09 21:09
People act surprised when the guy who made the absolute masterpiece BLAME!; a manga whos vague story was notoriously difficult to follow in the most charming way possible, which was almost entirely written on the fly with most of the appeal being the atmosphere and worldbuilding told through his architecture background, who was pressured into making more watered down manga with greater mass appeal by his peers and editors, cant stick the landing on basically his first attempt at writing a standard story.
PenguinWithNoMustach2026-01-11 03:33
Blame! stands out to me as having the most awesome and horrifying bio-mechanical creature designs I've ever seen. The kind of nightmare fuel you can't look away from.
United-key2026-01-09 21:56
Spoilers? Who got together?
nirvash5302026-01-09 22:32
It's not really a surprise, it's Tanikaze and the alien chick.
It's the side characters that were really surprising. His other two harem members got together because one turned into a man.
TraditionalHousing652026-01-09 22:54
Based
Les_Bien_Pain2026-01-10 03:17
No!
It could have been yuri!!! Just get science babies or something.
ImSoDrab2026-01-09 20:57
The ending felt like a cop out for me, its an ending alright.
RCTD-2612026-01-09 17:51
it's normal that you don't know about the movie, it was released 6 years after the season 2 ended
Drwildy2026-01-09 19:07
Classic moves
Jacier_2026-01-09 20:11
Yeah I didn’t know either when I found out. Randomly looked up Sidonia one night and found out it got a movie years after the 2nd season

It’s not that serious, they probably just watched KoS when it first came out, and a lot of anime only folk (like myself) assumed it wouldn’t get any closure like so many other anime’s.

welcome 2 the internet
Tranquil_Neurotic2026-01-09 18:40
If Japan ends the "show" with a movie, it's hardly a surprise most of global anime watchers would n't know, right? Not everybody is an enthusiast keeping track of all the shows they are watching.

Kaellian2026-01-09 20:19
Yeah. It was the first 3D show that made me think "this is fine". It was one of my favorite when it aired. Such a good show.
FuzzyStorm2026-01-09 21:54
Watch Ajin ! Same type of animation and its fantastic (has an ending) !
Manga and anime have different endings but they are both good IMO !
Jazs19942026-01-09 17:31
It's even hacking the suit if I remember.
These humans are basically genderless until they meet someone/get romantic feelings then their body changes accordingly. The suit didn't register Izana becoming a woman
SolDarkHunter2026-01-09 17:49
Yeah, Izana was a "third gender" and had been unconsciously transitioning into a woman. The physical changes had progressed far enough the suit didn't recognize her.
...you know, I'd always wondered. The third genders are supposed to transition to the sex opposite that of the person they're attracted to. So what happens if two third genders fall in love?
Jazs19942026-01-09 17:52
I don't think that'd happen. It'd would be 2 genderless one changing to a man the other a woman. All those new gen humans were genderless. It was only because of Tanikaze being an old specimen did she change
LackingTact192026-01-10 00:23
the book Left Hand of Darkness comes to mind with its gender/sex fluidity In that story it is a partially conscious choice.
Connortsunami2026-01-10 14:31
One would begin to change first depending on what the current gender is of the other, and the other would likely solidify their current gender in response.
Which the first changes into would be dependent on their impression of which gender the other was. If they though they were a girl, they'd turn into a guy, which would further make the other transition into a guy, or vice versa.
TheBlaaah2026-01-10 19:09
Wow tumblr would love this show i feel like
heimdal772026-01-09 20:05
You would think they would somehow program into the suits to specify the user is third gender and to take that into acount.
nirvash5302026-01-09 22:30
Well, she was utterly bamboozled that she wanted his dick all along and was trying to deny her rapid bodily changes.
HieronymusVox2026-01-09 22:56
Izana made modifications to the suit for a better fit without taking it to the armor er for recertification (it was getting snug in the hips and bust for some mysterious reason). Since it wasn't authorized work, the software had to prevent them from using a suit of unknown condition.
TA_Account0282026-01-10 10:38
I think in this specific scene, Izana had significant injury to her arm and instead of healing she opted for a prosthetic. The suit didint recognize her as either she’s not the owner of the suit or her body had gone through a significant physical change. She’s also been tampering with her suit with unauthorized maintenance further made the suit inoperable.
ParkingGlittering2112026-01-09 17:37

Captain_Kuhl2026-01-09 17:58

One_Bend74232026-01-09 18:54
Well, she was naked, under that suit.
Kydra_1172026-01-09 17:56
Anime was peak
Hephaestus_God2026-01-09 18:03
This is the type of space corporate greed I like.
If someone isn’t allowed to wear your product, just blow the thing up so nobody can wear it. If you ain’t paying, you ain’t wearing.
DatingYella2026-01-11 01:01
Only a mega corp can make ridiculous shit like that happen. Long live space hackers
eraser_stp2026-01-14 11:21
They are military pilots, so it makes sense to restrict outsiders' access to their suits, which may contain classified information and have access codes to their weapons systems.

N7CombatWombat2026-01-09 18:45

ah, so you didn't watch this anime, I see.
This-is_CMGRI2026-01-09 18:12
Why is Sidonia not in SRW yet? It's a good fit there. Damn good baller story.
Also the Tsugumori joins Gundam Calibarn in the rare niche of " all-white bipeds that have red accents and long rifles for main weapons"
DirCurrFluxCapacitor2026-01-09 19:28
Too kinky for a children's game
Etheo2026-01-10 00:22
... is SRW really a children's game?
DirCurrFluxCapacitor2026-01-10 00:27
Pretty sure it's market to mostly a children public
SolDarkHunter2026-01-10 01:28
Don't think that excuse works when Demonbane (an H-game) made it in.
Sibula972026-01-09 21:57
SRW?
nirvash5302026-01-09 22:30
Super Robot Wars.
Basically The Avengers for mecha anime.
aimglitchz2026-01-10 00:24
Never heard of it
shadowlightfox2026-01-10 00:39
Oh man, you have no idea what you're missing out on.
SolDarkHunter2026-01-10 01:27
It's a long-running, gigantic cross-over Strategy Game between pretty much every Japanese mecha media ever.
Problem is, due to the tremendous licensing headaches involved, almost none of it has ever been released outside Japan.
AdmirHiddleston2026-01-10 03:15
Non Mecha even show up sometimes too like Cowboy Bebop and Ultraman
Eminence_Fr0nt2026-01-10 04:29
aint 30 & Y on STEAM? Though yeah thats not exactly a lot. and it's so indescribably dumb that they can't release elsewhere because of licensing? like how can you release the game fine in one place but nowhere else its almost as if not stupider than not being able to get the old Ace Combats digitally since they apparently licensed the actual aircraft from the manufacturers and it expired? like what? you sold the game fine why the hell can't ya keep selling it? like unless im mistaken on that, it's ridiculous
Vanderseid2026-01-10 09:06
I believe 30 and Y are available worldwide. V, X and T are also available in Asia with English text which you could probably get without much issue as well.
That's 5 of the latest SRW games being released outside of Japan, the most recent 2 globally. Suffice to say it will probably stay that way going forward.
theassassintherapist2026-01-10 17:01
V T and X you can buy from Playasia or Amazon
theassassintherapist2026-01-10 17:00
Super Robot War Y and Super Robot War 30 are on steam

This choppy Netflix animation is so mf ugly
RCTD-2612026-01-09 19:00
Netflix only have the rights to stream it, they do not contribute in making this anime
CapnRadiator2026-01-09 19:15
This is why Sidonia no Kishi lost me, I couldn’t forgive Nihei for what he did to Izana. Had a character change their entire physical identity because they love the main character, and then mc brushes her off, thanks Nihei very cool
Addite2026-01-09 19:48
If you’ve ever read any of his works, romance or just human connection in general are never really explored in any way. Sidonia no Kishi is highly unusual in many aspects when compared to his other works. Thus it doesn’t surprise me that people are irritated by the way he writes characters or rather his inability to do so.
CapnRadiator2026-01-09 21:08
Oh I have read all of SnK, Blame and Biomega, and I do agree completely, that’s why I say SnK lost me because for a while I was foolishly under the impression he was giving writing actual romance a shot and well… instead we got haremshit
I finished SnK somewhat out of spite; I haven’t given Aposimz a go because of that.
Mecha_Link2026-01-09 19:58
It's a shame, I still think Knights of Sidonia has the best 'hard sci-fi" mecha action in anime. The UI and sound design is incredible.
Tsumugi is an utterly emotionally parasitic character though - it amazes me that she doesn't seem to get more flak from the KoS community.
CapnRadiator2026-01-09 21:11
Yes as the other reply above notes, Nihei at his best writing sci-fi of various hardnesses, and drawing cool mecha, ships and of course pipes, and very much not at his best when writing characters with more than one dimension, and SnK was an attempt to write a sci fi mainstream character drama… so in hindsight it was probably doomed from the start
Mecha_Link2026-01-09 22:18
It's strange cause KoS has all the pieces already there for a more interesting story on 'identity'.
You have a hard sci-fi world with advanced trans-human science, clones, immortals, hybrids, normal humans, androids - each questioning their place in the world. It's the perfect set up for a deeper narrative, but for some reason Nihei just didn't take it. He went with a ship that made literally no sense with absolutely no build up lol.
I still really enjoyed the manga and anime though. It was a lot of fun and excellent world building.
DatingYella2026-01-11 01:02
What can I say. Not everyone is on that Akira level
westerschelle2026-01-09 19:19
I hate it when my body parameters exceeds error margins.
TheWalkenDude2026-01-09 19:20
This show was such trash. Terrible animation and ass character design. "Oh they're clones!" You still gotta be able to tell them apart.
-TheManWithNoHat-2026-01-09 20:17
You'll either hate or love Clone Wars then
JustAnswerAQuestion2026-01-09 19:40
Maybe it's time to take it back off the PTW.
kjloltoborami2026-01-09 19:58
Tsutomo Nihei is my favorite mangaka, i wish he could get a proper 2d anime adaptation
pabra2026-01-09 22:37
It is a pity the second season and the movie in the end were a bit rushed - clearly there was more room for character and plot development.
ChancePhilosophy10332026-01-10 00:21

Not gonna lie id probably smash the screen thing
Aromatic-Scratch34812026-01-11 04:39
You're on an english page, writing in english. Just fucking call it Knights of Sidonia. What is with the fucking weebery of using the Japanese title? "But the creator didnt call it that" the creator didnt fucking write your subtitles either.
