ETA: I do love Skip & Loafer too. And well I always rec Fruits Basket (2019). Chihayafuru just happens to have both the sports and the romance aspect.
Perhaps try Toradora! It's one of the classic, it is complete, has some cute and emotional moments.
Also try Kaguya-sama: Love is War, cute, funny and has a pretty good stopping point at S3.
My Dress-up Darling is great too, don't get scared by the surface level lewd stuff, it's really cute actually.
