Thankfully, after this the rest of the threads should be posted on time. This is just a one time thing.
It depends on how they handle this plot point going forward, but right now I am cautiously optimistic. I'm fine with them teasing Hibiki and Fuko as a pairing if the point is it is forbidden love and Hibiki knows he's in the wrong. This is like the consequences of him being too directly involved. He hoisted his own petard.
Welcome to the I My Me! Strawberry Eggs 25th anniversary rewatch!
^Just ^ignore ^the ^25th ^anniversary ^is ^in ^July…
Crossdressing and comedy. It has a long, storied history.
Nowadays, crossdressing in comedy is considered insensitive with accusations of it being transphobic and borderline homophobic. And while there is probably some truth to that, the reality is a lot of times it’s played with sincerity.
Some Like It Hot and Tootsie are two of the greatest comedies of all time. Mrs. Doubtfire is considered iconic and a defining part of Robin Williams legacy. All three movies play the crossdressing up for laughs but there’s quite sincerity about it to where the joke isn’t just “Lol, it’s a guy dressed as a woman”. And I think that sincerity applies to I My Me! Strawberry Eggs.
Strawberry Eggs, which is how I’ll be referring to it going forward, is very much a product of its time. It has that wacky slapstick type of humor common in anime at the time, like with shows such as Ranma and Love Hina. It also has a lot of heart that I think makes it a show worth revisiting.
This is easily the most obscure show I’ve ever hosted. I hope with this rewatch I can introduce people to this series that have never seen it before so they can become fans of it just like me. It’s been over two years since I last saw the show, so will my memory hold up or will it prove to be an outdated relic best forgotten to time? Let’s find out!
With that out of the way, let’s begin.
I’m watching the dub, by the way.
Today as I'm writing this is Veterans Day. It's weird to have a holiday meant to celebrate living veterans that is based on a war where they're all dead.
A bunch of buses
It looks like they're going on a field trip.
Kōji and Tofu upset because now this means they can't be pervs.
Good
It look as if they're going to be picked up.
They're on Honshu Island?
Honshu? I hardly know her!
Better than Honk Shoo Island, I suppose.
Fuko, Miho, Seiko, and Fujio are all together.
Miho thinks this is the perfect place to find love.
The guys making a tent
One of the guys plans on telling Hibiki he loves her.
One of the other guys seems unsure.
Akira meanwhile it seems like wants Fuko all to herself, but won't admit it.
The unsure guy is going to pursue Seiko, it seems.
Akira, no one
Hibiki walking
That guy sure is trying hard
All these guys are total creeps lol
The guy interested in Hibiki is named Aoki, by the way.
As Hibiki talks to the girls, he almost reveals he's a man. Close call.
Miho says it's too perfect for a forbidden love between a teacher and her student to blossom in the middle of nature.
Hibiki never heard such nonsense before.
Fuko looking on concerned as Aoki chases after Hibiki.
Hey, it's the dog
Lulu is in town
"I own all these mountains."
[](#forgotkeys)
Lulu continues to amaze
Hibiki talking about all that is on his plate.
What is one to do?
Fujio looking at Akira while carrying wood.
Akira meanwhile is helping Fuko cut potatoes.
Who knew he was in the boy scouts?
Akira and Fuko is clearly the end goal, which I feel sorry for Fujio about.
The two girls dropping Kōji and Tofu off.
And now they're lost :P
Drowning their sorrows in noodles
Hibiki with everyone
Mountain climbing is tomorrow
Aoki continuing to be a creep
The guys in this show are so stupid lol
Fujio saying to herself she'll do it this time.
Do what, exactly?
The two guys gives letters to Fuko telling her to give it to Seiko and Hibiki.
Fuko showing it to Miho and Seiko.
But unfortunately, they think the letters are for them.
Did they not list the names of the people in the letters? God, these guys are dumb.
Akira doing some self-reflection
There's Fujio
She is trying to make a move
Fuko walking with Hibiki
He basically says he wants nothing to do with Aoki.
Meanwhile, Miho is with Aoki
Fujio on a boat with Akira
Akira is blushing
Maybe not all hope is lost after all.
Fuko saying how painful the letter Aoki made was for her.
Still feeling that pain
"Why does my heart race like this whenever I think of you?"
Uhh...
Suddenly, Lulu is here
Good, the last thing Hibiki needs is to end up on a list.
Poor guy who's name I don't know.
Raining now
Fujio and Akira are inside
Fujio looks cute with her hair down.
Gathered by a fireplace now
Staring at each other
I really do ship these two, more so than Akira and Fuko.
Foggy outside
Fujio and Akira meet up with Hibiki.
Next day, and the vice principal thinks they are up to something dirty.
Vice principal looks like a Class of 09 character.
Anyway, they're doing sex education now.
Vice principal telling all the girls what men only want is sex.
I think she may be projecting here.
Now she's browbeating the male students.
I still can't get over the guy that I believe is supposed to have an Italian accent lol
Aoki says that women are horrible.
Fujio meeting up with Akira
He says stupid rumors like this always go away eventually.
Fujio is disheartened to hear this as Hibiki looks on from afar.
Hibiki bathing
Hibiki wondering if maybe Akira and Fujio actually did something.
Lulu points out he almost did something to Fuko.
Based Lulu, literally the best character.
Hibiki gonna think to do something.
Last day of the camping trip
Hibiki grabs the microphone from the vice principal, and tells the students that if you cherish someone, the answer will come to you.
Lulu clarifying that nothing happened between Fujio and Akira.
Didn't tell anyone before because that would've taken all the fun out of it.
Oh, Lulu...
I still feel like Fujio and Akira are on different books when it comes to love, let alone pages.
As Fuko is about to tell Hibiki who she cherishes most, Hibiki walks away.
Clearly Hibiki is worried of what he was going to say.
Overall, this was an alright episode. It was meant to tease Fujio and Akira as a pairing and Hibiki and Fuko as a pairing, and it did a good job in doing so. I like Fujio being vulnerable and letting her guard down around Akira. She's cute when she isn't being so grouchy. It sucks knowing Akira is probably going to eventually turn her down, but for the time being their scenes together are really adorable.
I don't like that Hibiki almost kissed Fuko. I wish that Hibiki showed more hesitation or bewilderment by what was going on. He seemed too eager to engage in the kiss. At the very least, I'm glad he didn't kiss her because it feels like it would've tainted the show for me. I'm fine with Fuko being in love with Hibiki, but I think it should be unrequited love. And hey, it might still be, there's still 4 episodes left on the docket.
Probably one of the lesser episodes. It focused on the love component that has been like the epicenter of the show, but I didn't feel like it had much besides that. The sex education plot point also felt tacked on and could've maybe been it's own episode, it just felt like a way to include the vice principal in this episode and have some conflict between her and Hibiki.
Fun idea for an episode
>What are your thoughts on the show teasing Fujio and Akira as a potential pairing?
I ship it
>What are your thoughts on Hibiki almost kissing Fuko? He seems like he regrets it afterwards.
I hope this means they won't become an item.
>What are your thoughts on the vice principal teaching the students a skewed version of sex education with Hibiki telling the students that if you cherish someone, the answer will come to you?
It seems like Hibiki is projecting here. But it's not bad advice.
Woohoo! It’s a field trip episode. I wonder where we’re going?
Godammit the pervert duo is gonna stalk them on the field trip.
The fact that they explicitly refer to Honshu as a separate island they travel to implies that this show mainly takes place in either Shikoku or Kyushu.
Definitely interesting to note since a lot of anime take place on Honshu since that’s where a lot of the biggest cities like Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka are.
These boys need to learn how to not be creepy around women.
These girls also should not be encouraging their teacher to romance a student.
Lulu apparently owns the mountains. Not sure how she got that but I’m glad she’s in the episode.
Thank god. The pervert duo is stranded in Nagoya now.
I’m kinda checking out a bit during this episode. I just don’t think any of these side characters are well developed enough for me to care about their potential romances.
Thank god Lulu is here to interrupt the uncomfortably close student-teacher moment.
I guess we’re having a sex ed class now.
Aren’t these kids like 15? You’d think they’d have learned this already.
This is reminding me of the sex ed scene in Mean Girls.
Jesus Christ. Like half the girls in this class just admitted to having been assaulted by a groper before. That’s really dark and out of nowhere and we just breeze past it.
And then like all the boys in this class have really unhappy parents. Jeez.
Also one of these kids is still randomly Italian in the dub. What’s going on?
I guess Hibiki’s little speech at the end is sweet.
The ending of this episode is leaning on the student-teacher thing way more than I’m comfortable with. I really hope this romance angle gets shot down soon.
To hell. We're going to hell.
>Godammit the pervert duo is gonna stalk them on the field trip.
Nope. Thankfully.
>The fact that they explicitly refer to Honshu as a separate island they travel to implies that this show mainly takes place in either Shikoku or Kyushu.
Interesting. I guess that makes sense?
>Definitely interesting to note since a lot of anime take place on Honshu since that’s where a lot of the biggest cities like Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka are.
I guess maybe it's to fit the country rural vibe the show somewhat has? That's just me guessing.
I don't know if country rural is entirely accurate, but it doesn't feel urban.
>These boys need to learn how to not be creepy around women.
For real.
I feel like the principal really put forth a toxic environment.
>These girls also should not be encouraging their teacher to romance a student.
Eh, they're just being hopeless romantics
>Lulu apparently owns the mountains. Not sure how she got that but I’m glad she’s in the episode.
Lulu makes any episode she's in immediately better.
>Thank god. The pervert duo is stranded in Nagoya now.
Yay
>I’m kinda checking out a bit during this episode. I just don’t think any of these side characters are well developed enough for me to care about their potential romances.
I care about Fujio, Akira, and Miho. Like, I find myself entertained by their antics.
And I will say this: We complained before of how Akira's two friends are underdeveloped. I feel after this episode and the last one I now know who Akira's two friends are.
>Thank god Lulu is here to interrupt the uncomfortably close student-teacher moment.
I know, right? By the grace of God.
This is probably the biggest development in Hibiki and Fuko's relationship since Fuko first fell for him in episode 1. Now, Hibiki seems at least aware Fuko feels a certain way about him.
>I guess we’re having a sex ed class now.
Bit random, but okay
>Aren’t these kids like 15? You’d think they’d have learned this already.
Yes, but vice principal gotta get on her soap box.
>This is reminding me of the sex ed scene in Mean Girls.
I love the comparison lol
This actually predates that, interestingly enough.
>Jesus Christ. Like half the girls in this class just admitted to having been assaulted by a groper before. That’s really dark and out of nowhere and we just breeze past it.
I don't remember that at all. And KuKiSun makes no mention of it in their notes.
>And then like all the boys in this class have really unhappy parents. Jeez.
That definitely seems trivial by comparison :P
>Also one of these kids is still randomly Italian in the dub. What’s going on?
At least they're committing to it?
Honestly, I love the randomness of it all lol
>I guess Hibiki’s little speech at the end is sweet.
It's like despite being conflicted his heart remains well-intentioned. That's nice, at the very least.
>The ending of this episode is leaning on the student-teacher thing way more than I’m comfortable with. I really hope this romance angle gets shot down soon.
Well, given Hibiki seems reluctant to give Fuko an answer, I feel like there's a good chance that's the case. He seems to recognize this isn't right.
I like that the show is playing up Hibiki getting too involved, which is a sticking point I've been talking about since episode 4. This very much feels like the consequences of Hibiki’s actions, and had he not helped Fuko as much as he did she wouldn't have fallen for him as hard as she has.
I know one is named Fukai but I'm spacing on the other one.
>This is probably the biggest development in Hibiki and Fuko's relationship since Fuko first fell for him in episode 1. Now, Hibiki seems at least aware Fuko feels a certain way about him.
I'm just trying to have faith that they won't go all the way with this route.
>I don't remember that at all. And KuKiSun makes no mention of it in their notes.
I swear this happened. When the vice principal was doing her sex ed thing she says to the girls "I'm sure some of you girls have been a victim of a groper" and then like most of them nodded.
>I like that the show is playing up Hibiki getting too involved, which is a sticking point I've been talking about since episode 4. This very much feels like the consequences of Hibiki’s actions, and had he not helped Fuko as much as he did she wouldn't have fallen for him as hard as she has.
I am curious to see where they go with this
Akira's friends are Shiro and Aoki
>I'm just trying to have faith that they won't go all the way with this route.
Hibiki at the very least seems blindsided by these feelings.
>I swear this happened. When the vice principal was doing her sex ed thing she says to the girls "I'm sure some of you girls have been a victim of a groper" and then like most of them nodded.
I'd like to think they agreed not knowing what she was talking about.
This is such a wildly unhinged moment because it serves no purpose whatsoever. And it's not even played for comedy as gross as that would be. It's done matter of factly.
>I am curious to see where they go with this
Same here. It's like Hibiki and Fuko have never been further apart than they are currently.
Okay so I was just thinking of one of the other boys in that case
>Same here. It's like Hibiki and Fuko have never been further apart than they are currently.
We're almost in the final stretch of episodes so it definitely seems like it'll be important going forwards
Fukai/Fukae is the last name of Akira
>We're almost in the final stretch of episodes so it definitely seems like it'll be important going forwards
Yeah, I suspect so. At the very least, Hibiki will probably be more self-aware.
Okay thank you for clearing that up. I'm really bad with names in this show.
Thoughts on Kōji and Tofu mad they can't go with everyone?
Thoughts on Miho feeling that an island is the perfect place to find love?
Thoughts on Aoki going to confess his feelings to Hibiki?
Thoughts on Miho saying it's too perfect for a forbidden love between a teacher and her student to blossom in the middle of nature? That my friends is called foreshadowing.
Thoughts on Lulu revealing she owns all the mountains?
Thoughts on Akira revealing he used to be in the boy scouts?
Thoughts on Kōji and Tofu getting lost?
Thoughts on Aoki trying too hard?
Thoughts on the two guys who are attracted to Seiko and Hibiki making them letters but they forgot to put their names on them?
What are your thoughts on Fujio trying to be proactive in her feelings for Akira?
What are your thoughts on Fuko saying Aoki writing a letter to Hibiki really hurt for her to see?
What are your thoughts on Fuko telling Hibiki sensei her heart races whenever she thinks of her?
Thoughts on the vice principal thinking Fujio and Akira did something dirty?
Thoughts on the vice principal saying all men want is sex?
What are your thoughts on Akira telling Fujio stupid rumors go away eventually, which has Fujio upset?
What are your thoughts on Lulu revealing she knows nothing happened between Fujio and Akira but she didn't want to tell anyone because it would have ruined the fun?
What are your thoughts on Hibiki sensei refusing to give Fuko an answer of who she cherishes most?
Wonder exactly where they are. Honshu is like the biggest island of Japan.
>Thoughts on Kōji and Tofu mad they can't go with everyone?
Doesn't Koji have a job or something? At least Tofu has the excuse of being retired.
>Thoughts on Miho feeling that an island is the perfect place to find love?
I mean technically they're always on an island. Japan's an island nation.
>Thoughts on Aoki going to confess his feelings to Hibiki?
He's got no shot.
>Thoughts on Miho saying it's too perfect for a forbidden love between a teacher and her student to blossom in the middle of nature? That my friends is called foreshadowing.
Ugh. I don't like this student-teacher stuff.
>Thoughts on Lulu revealing she owns all the mountains?
Where does she get all her money?
>Thoughts on Akira revealing he used to be in the boy scouts?
Seems like that gave him some useful skills
>Thoughts on Kōji and Tofu getting lost?
Good. Now we don't have to worry about them.
>Thoughts on Aoki trying too hard?
It was pretty cringey.
>Thoughts on the two guys who are attracted to Seiko and Hibiki making them letters but they forgot to put their names on them?
I guess that's a funny way to end this subplot.
>What are your thoughts on Fujio trying to be proactive in her feelings for Akira?
Good for her.
>Thoughts on the vice principal thinking Fujio and Akira did something dirty?
I mean that's kind of a reasonable assumption.
>Thoughts on the vice principal saying all men want is sex?
Again, so far they have not been proven wrong.
>What are your thoughts on Lulu revealing she knows nothing happened between Fujio and Akira but she didn't want to tell anyone because it would have ruined the fun?
Seems in character for her
It's apparently someone you can camp
>Doesn't Koji have a job or something? At least Tofu has the excuse of being retired.
I thought Kōji was a salary man or something.
>I mean technically they're always on an island. Japan's an island nation.
Yeah, Miho. You hopeless romantic.
Real "This is the war room" energy.
>He's got no shot.
Not at all
>Ugh. I don't like this student-teacher stuff.
Well, I would argue the show doesn't present it in a favorable light.
>Where does she get all her money?
I assume she got like a 401K after she retired from her electronics job.
>Seems like that gave him some useful skills
Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing is up for debate.
>Good. Now we don't have to worry about them.
Happy days are here again
>It was pretty cringey.
Very immature
>I guess that's a funny way to end this subplot.
Miho seems to finally found someone.
>Good for her.
Here's hoping this is the start of something.
>I mean that's kind of a reasonable assumption.
Indeed. I can't say I blame her.
>Again, so far they have not been proven wrong.
Definitely not helping their rep
>Seems in character for her
She is an agent of chaos.
I see you intentionally ignored the questions involving Hibiki and Fuko :P
>What are your thoughts on this episode being about everyone going on a camping trip?
Camping trip equals night shenanigans, so obviously it was gonna be an important episode.
>What are your thoughts on the show teasing Fujio and Akira as a potential pairing?
You know my thoughts on it. I don't like Akira, and ideally he would end up with none of the characters, but somehow... I prefer it being Fujio than Fuko.
>What are your thoughts on Hibiki almost kissing Fuko? He seems like he regrets it afterwards.
Very much against that, but glad he at least walked away during her second near-confession.
>What are your thoughts on the vice principal teaching the students a skewed version of sex education with Hibiki telling the students that if you cherish someone, the answer will come to you?
I thought it was pretty damn funny lol, starting to like the vice principal!
On to the episode!
Field trip episode? Fun!
I actually feel bad for the vice principal for once.
I wonder if any romance will actually move forward this episode.
Great, another kid's in love with Hibiki! And he's looking like a bigger pervert than the perverts! Meanwhile Fuko is very jealous.
Granny owns all the mountains? So I was right, she's a millionaire!
Dumbass kid can't even peel a potato without cutting himself.
Lol some random hotties actually think the perverts were fun to talk to.
Fujio is about to get heartbroken.
Either Miho really doesn't have a boyfriend or she's willing to cheat on him.
And Fuko kind of confessed to Hibiki, and he got dangerously close to kissing a child.
The vice principal is absolutely right again. I'm starting to agree more and more with her and the principal.
The sex education lessons were a fantastic. She's really growing on me.
Granny ships Fuko and Akira lol.
Yeah, that speech was... Something. Not sure if he's doing it for the students or himself.
Good thing Hibiki walked away from Fuko's actual confession.
I'm gonna use this comment to reply to your own, /u/Holofan4life, it's getting hard for me to juggle the multiple comment chains!
>Today as I'm writing this is Veterans Day. It's weird to have a holiday meant to celebrate living veterans that is based on a war where they're all dead.
'muricans and their weird holidays.
Like I said before, I'd rather Akira ended with Fujio than Akira, even though I still don't like it. But I also don't think they're gonna be a thing, or at least not yet.
Me neither, and there wasn't even a good enough reason for it, I don't feel like they got close enough to justify such a close encounter simply because she got that close to him... She's child, a barely developed child! I'm pretty good at separating fiction and real life, so I don't particularly care about taboo relationships like this, it's mostly a matter of preference, but I won't be offended or instantly say the show is shit even if they get involved.
Yeah, either bottom 2 or 3 episodes for me. It wasn't bad, simply developed things in ways that I wasn't particularly fond of. I did like the sex education part though lol.
>Camping trip equals night shenanigans, so obviously it was gonna be an important episode.
And it was.
I imagine this is probably the start of Hibiki's downfall.
>>What are your thoughts on the show teasing Fujio and Akira as a potential pairing?
>You know my thoughts on it. I don't like Akira, and ideally he would end up with none of the characters, but somehow... I prefer it being Fujio than Fuko.
I think it's because Fujio is kinda aggressive like Akira so they seem like they could bring out a good side out of each other.
>>What are your thoughts on Hibiki almost kissing Fuko? He seems like he regrets it afterwards.
>Very much against that, but glad he at least walked away during her second near-confession.
Honestly, they're not handling the plot point badly so far.
>>What are your thoughts on the vice principal teaching the students a skewed version of sex education with Hibiki telling the students that if you cherish someone, the answer will come to you?
>I thought it was pretty damn funny lol, starting to like the vice principal!
It's funny because I feel like originally the principal was planned to be more involved than she is currently. But I think it was the right call to make the vice principal more of the main antagonist. She's a good foil for Hibiki.
>On to the episode!
[](#akyuusqueel)
>Field trip episode? Fun!
Having one of these type of episodes feels like a no brainer.
>I actually feel bad for the vice principal for once.
I don't :P
>I wonder if any romance will actually move forward this episode.
Yes, actually. But maybe not the one you may be thinking.
>Great, another kid's in love with Hibiki! And he's looking like a bigger pervert than the perverts! Meanwhile Fuko is very jealous.
I like that the last couple episodes have clarified who more of the guys are. Last episode was Shiro, and here we have Aoki.
>Granny owns all the mountains? So I was right, she's a millionaire!
That tech expert job of hers must've paid well.
>Dumbass kid can't even peel a potato without cutting himself.
I mean...
^Neither ^can ^I...
>Lol some random hotties actually think the perverts were fun to talk to.
That baddie you pulled by being autistic
>Fujio is about to get heartbroken.
Surprisingly not. I was shocked by that.
This feels like Fujio's biggest win so far.
>Either Miho really doesn't have a boyfriend or she's willing to cheat on him.
Why not both? [](#yuishrug)
I'm starting to think Miho's boyfriend is about as real as my taste in myself. That is nonexistent.
>And Fuko kind of confessed to Hibiki, and he got dangerously close to kissing a child.
Yeah, he's definitely getting too involved.
>The vice principal is absolutely right again. I'm starting to agree more and more with her and the principal.
Two wrongs don't make a righy
>The sex education lessons were a fantastic. She's really growing on me.
It was definitely funny, but I wish it wasn't so truncated. I feel like that could've been its own episode.
>Granny ships Fuko and Akira lol.
Or more likely she ships Hibiki and not making terrible decisions that will have long lasting effects on his life.
>Yeah, that speech was... Something. Not sure if he's doing it for the students or himself.
Why not both? [](#yuishrug)
This continues the trend of Hibiki being all "Do as I say, not as I do".
>Good thing Hibiki walked away from Fuko's actual confession.
That gives me hope Hibiki won't end up with her.
I mean, realistically, I can't see the relationship working anyway not just because of the age thing but because Fuko doesn't know Hibiki sensei is bra man. And once she does if she does find out, she probably won't take the news well.
>I'm gonna use this comment to reply to your own, /u/Holofan4life, it's getting hard for me to juggle the multiple comment chains!
I'm tempted to make all the stuff below its own separate comment XD
>>Today as I'm writing this is Veterans Day. It's weird to have a holiday meant to celebrate living veterans that is based on a war where they're all dead.
>'muricans and their weird holidays.
It's just an excuse for big grocery story to get us to grill something /s
>>Overall, this was an alright episode. It was meant to tease Fujio and Akira as a pairing and Hibiki and Fuko as a pairing, and it did a good job in doing so. I like Fujio being vulnerable and letting her guard down around Akira. She's cute when she isn't being so grouchy. It sucks knowing Akira is probably going to eventually turn her down, but for the time being their scenes together are really adorable.
>Like I said before, I'd rather Akira ended with Fujio than Akira, even though I still don't like it.
Akira cloning himself is the twist nobody saw coming :P
"Now neither of us will be virgins!"
>But I also don't think they're gonna be a thing, or at least not yet.
At least this was an encouraging sign. Like, it felt to me Akira liked being around Fujio this episode.
It really depends on the execution. There was a relationship in Shakugan no Shana where one of the adult characters starts dating a 15-year-old. But it made sense within the context of the story.
I can buy Fuko being in love with Hibiki. But I don't know if I buy Hibiki being in love with Fuko. And right now, it's clear he isn't sure how he feels.
**Ran out of space. Part two down below**
>Yeah, either bottom 2 or 3 episodes for me. It wasn't bad, simply developed things in ways that I wasn't particularly fond of. I did like the sex education part though lol.
I liked more than I didn't. The Fujio and Akira stuff was good relationship development, Lulu was a lot of fun here, the sex education stuff was entertaining albeit rushed, and I like we're developing more of the side characters. And Kōji and Tofu barely being around was a plus.
There wasn't anything I would say was terrible here.
I think how I view a lot of these episodes like episode 8 or this one will depend on the follow-up. There's a lot of moving parts and we're just kinda waiting to see where the pieces land.
Definitely looks like it.
>I think it's because Fujio is kinda aggressive like Akira so they seem like they could bring out a good side out of each other.
Mostly because Fuko is so nice and innocent! I don't like seeing her with that prick.
>It's funny because I feel like originally the principal was planned to be more involved than she is currently. But I think it was the right call to make the vice principal more of the main antagonist. She's a good foil for Hibiki.
Yeah, the principal being the main antagonist as a crazy feminist makes more sense seeing as she's older, but then the crazy shenanigans the vice principal has been up to wouldn't have worked as well had it been her.
>Having one of these type of episodes feels like a no brainer.
It seems this type of anime always has a at least one field trip/camping/beach/pool episode. It's a given.
>I like that the last couple episodes have clarified who more of the guys are. Last episode was Shiro, and here we have Aoki.
Yeah, feels like each new episode gives some limelight to a different character. Can't say I particularly care for those characters, but it is what it is!
>I mean...
>Neither can I...
Me neither, but the point is that he sucks.
>That baddie you pulled by being autistic
Been there... Didn't turn out too well.
>Surprisingly not. I was shocked by that.
>This feels like Fujio's biggest win so far.
I feel like at some point she realized it's not gonna happen, but I guess she quickly forgot about it and went all "doki doki" again.
>I'm starting to think Miho's boyfriend is about as real as my taste in myself. That is nonexistent.
[](#nocomment)
>Two wrongs don't make a righy
It wasn't 2 wrongs though. She was straight up right. It's a camping trip for middle school children, they shouldn't be sneaking out at night, much less with someone from the opposite sex.
>It was definitely funny, but I wish it wasn't so truncated. I feel like that could've been its own episode.
I could see it being one of the best episodes! I wonder if there's any sex education anime... And I mean a straight up comedy, not some ecchi/hentai.
>Or more likely she ships Hibiki and not making terrible decisions that will have long lasting effects on his life.
Either way, based.
>That gives me hope Hibiki won't end up with her.
>I mean, realistically, I can't see the relationship working anyway not just because of the age thing but because Fuko doesn't know Hibiki sensei is bra man. And once she does if she does find out, she probably won't take the news well.
She will find out of course, and she'll most likely still like him, maybe even more so because he's a man, though she will certainly be mad/sad about it at first. I just hope he'll decline her feelings.
>I'm tempted to make all the stuff below its own separate comment XD
I would've merged it here :D
>Akira cloning himself is the twist nobody saw coming :P
>"Now neither of us will be virgins!"
I don't like that either. He needs to be miserable! But yeah, I meant Fuko of course!
>At least this was an encouraging sign. Like, it felt to me Akira liked being around Fujio this episode.
Yeah, but in the end he still likes Fuko. I feel like he would've reacted the same with any other girl.
A kid being in love with or having a crush on an adult is relatively normal, the adult reciprocating those feelings, however... Just the fact that he's confused is bad enough.
I wouldn't say it was bad either, just not as good as some of the better episodes. It did have good parts, but I have negative feelings towards some of the developments.
>I think how I view a lot of these episodes like episode 8 or this one will depend on the follow-up. There's a lot of moving parts and we're just kinda waiting to see where the pieces land.
With 4 episodes to go, I have a feeling every remaining episode will be touching upon these topics, so we'll see how I feel about that.
Which to the show's credit, they've been building to nicely. It's something I like about the show.
>Mostly because Fuko is so nice and innocent! I don't like seeing her with that prick.
Well, the hope is by being with Fuko Akira can mellow out. He won't be on edge at all times.
I believe this is what happened with Kyo in Fruits Basket.
>Yeah, the principal being the main antagonist as a crazy feminist makes more sense seeing as she's older, but then the crazy shenanigans the vice principal has been up to wouldn't have worked as well had it been her.
Also, the vice principal can be more animated than the principal can. I don't know if we'd get as much fun body movements if the principal was here.
>It seems this type of anime always has a at least one field trip/camping/beach/pool episode. It's a given.
And we already had a pool episode technically.
I like that now the boys are a part of the cast. Before, it felt like the only students of the school that existed were Fuko and her friends. Say what you will about the male students, but at least it gives us more to do and have fun with.
>Yeah, feels like each new episode gives some limelight to a different character. Can't say I particularly care for those characters, but it is what it is!
They're giving them characterization, at the very least. I now remember who everyone is.
>Me neither, but the point is that he sucks.
That seems unfair. He may suck, but for different reasons.
>Been there... Didn't turn out too well.
I haven't been there, for better or worse.
Also, care to elaborate if you feel comfortable doing so?
>I feel like at some point she realized it's not gonna happen, but I guess she quickly forgot about it and went all "doki doki" again.
It's cute, honestly. Like, I really like Fujio.
Then again, she's a tsundere, so...

>It wasn't 2 wrongs though. She was straight up right. It's a camping trip for middle school children, they shouldn't be sneaking out at night, much less with someone from the opposite sex.
I get that, but her message was objectively horrible. She did the sex education stuff just to belittle men.
>I could see it being one of the best episodes! I wonder if there's any sex education anime... And I mean a straight up comedy, not some ecchi/hentai.
The closest that comes to mind is Cells At Work Black. That's a show where we see anthropomorphic cells in the body taking care of someone. I believe the human they're taking care like has unprotected sex with someone who's dirty and all hell breaks loose.
It's been years since I've seen the show or read the manga, so I could be wrong.
Cells At Work Black is actually a spinoff of Cells At Work. That's a very fun series and I highly recommend it. It was so informative that I know some biology classes watch episodes of the show.
>Either way, based.
Lulu really is the glue of the show.
I was just thinking that it's been a minute since Lulu was heavily involved in an episode. And honestly, it wasn't that big of a drop-off in quality in my eyes. I think that shows how pretty consistent the show is the fact that you can have a show stealer like Lulu and put her on the backburner for a couple episodes.
>She will find out of course, and she'll most likely still like him, maybe even more so because he's a man, though she will certainly be mad/sad about it at first. I just hope he'll decline her feelings.
I mean, speaking personally, I would be mad if the person I trusted more than any other wasn't something I thought they were, or wasn't forthcoming of what they were doing.
>I would've merged it here :D
Well, too bad. I reached the character limit anyway lmao.
If merging the comments means you get to respond to more stuff, I'm all for it.
>I don't like that either. He needs to be miserable! But yeah, I meant Fuko of course!
Who says Akira can't be miserable with himself?
>Yeah, but in the end he still likes Fuko. I feel like he would've reacted the same with any other girl.
Maybe. But he was blushing. That's something, at least.
Before, if you asked me, Fujio stood no chance with Akira. Now, there's a sliver of hope.
>A kid being in love with or having a crush on an adult is relatively normal, the adult reciprocating those feelings, however... Just the fact that he's confused is bad enough.
But the reason he's confused is because he clearly cares about Fuko but he doesn't know why he cares about her the way he does. I'm not trying to justify an adult having feelings with a child, but it at least his confusion makes sense within the story.
>I wouldn't say it was bad either, just not as good as some of the better episodes. It did have good parts, but I have negative feelings towards some of the developments.
But the development of Fuko and Hibiki's relationship is something that was going to eventually happen based on how the story has been set up. To me, this isn't bad storytelling but more so morals dissonance, if that makes any sense. I don't think just because I disapprove of the development means automatically it isn't told well.
It's funny because so far the only episodes I have as been really good is episodes 1, 3, 4, 7, and 8. 4 in particular is the standout highlight, with the rest of the episodes not really reaching that level. And yet I feel the vibes of the show is better than the episode quality. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
It reminds me of City in that what makes the show special is less about there being these standout highlights. It's more the heart and the effort with which the show was made with.
>With 4 episodes to go, I have a feeling every remaining episode will be touching upon these topics, so we'll see how I feel about that.
I imagine now that Hibiki is aware of Fuko's feelings, the plot is really going to get moving.
Yeah, definitely took longer than I expected. I thought the show was gonna be way more focused on that, based on episode 1.
>Well, the hope is by being with Fuko Akira can mellow out. He won't be on edge at all times.
You're not gonna convince me.
>I believe this is what happened with Kyo in Fruits Basket.
From what I remember, that's not exactly how that went down... You haven't watched Fruits Basket, right? Things are way more complicated than that, Fruits Basket has some heavy drama and fantastical elements to it.
>Also, the vice principal can be more animated than the principal can. I don't know if we'd get as much fun body movements if the principal was here.
[](#blankblink)
>I like that now the boys are a part of the cast. Before, it felt like the only students of the school that existed were Fuko and her friends. Say what you will about the male students, but at least it gives us more to do and have fun with.
I just wish Akira didn't exist. I'm fine with the others.
>I haven't been there, for better or worse.
>Also, care to elaborate if you feel comfortable doing so?
Long story short... I was nerding out (i.e. being autistic) about something and this girl I barely knew thought I was hitting on her, so she asked me if she could tag along with me while I walked my dog. There were a lot of red flags, but I ignored every single one and we ended up in a relationship for longer than I'm proud to admit. Turned out she had some mental health problems and getting out of that relationship was pretty fucking hard.
>I get that, but her message was objectively horrible. She did the sex education stuff just to belittle men.
Still glad she did it lol.
>The closest that comes to mind is Cells At Work Black. That's a show where we see anthropomorphic cells in the body taking care of someone. I believe the human they're taking care like has unprotected sex with someone who's dirty and all hell breaks loose.

>Cells At Work Black is actually a spinoff of Cells At Work. That's a very fun series and I highly recommend it. It was so informative that I know some biology classes watch episodes of the show.
I've heard about Cells At Work, seen some clips of it on YouTube and did seem pretty interesting, its been on my PTW for a long time, but alas, I lack the time to watch everything I want :(
>I mean, speaking personally, I would be mad if the person I trusted more than any other wasn't something I thought they were, or wasn't forthcoming of what they were doing.
Yeah, it would be very understandable.
>If merging the comments means you get to respond to more stuff, I'm all for it.
Yeah, I just don't have enough time to answer everything, so I always end up replying to the shorter comments and the bigger ones end up forgotten :| That's why I can't commit to a 4 cour rewatch, I'll end up burnt out and leaving some real life friends mad because I won't have time for them either. My weekday routine is pretty much: get up, walk the dog, work, eat lunch, walk the dog, work, walk the dog, workout, shower, make dinner, eat dinner, walk the dog, and suddenly it's already 9pm and I still have to watch the daily episode and write my thoughts on it. I wish I could work less hours...
>Who says Akira can't be miserable with himself?
I want him to be miserably without a clone of himself though!
>Maybe. But he was blushing. That's something, at least.
>Before, if you asked me, Fujio stood no chance with Akira. Now, there's a sliver of hope.
If I was 14 and could see the bra through a school mate's wet shirt, I'd probably be blushing, no matter if I liked her or not...
>But the reason he's confused is because he clearly cares about Fuko but he doesn't know why he cares about her the way he does. I'm not trying to justify an adult having feelings with a child, but it at least his confusion makes sense within the story.
It's fiction, so we could always justify anything that happens... But even within the show's universe, I don't think there's been a good enough reason for him to be confused about his feelings.
>But the development of Fuko and Hibiki's relationship is something that was going to eventually happen based on how the story has been set up. I know it doesn't make it bad storytelling. Mushoku Tensei is one of my favorite anime and the main character was, well... You probably know. Doesn't mean I have to like that part :P Of course in this case, it's a central part of the story, but still.
>It reminds me of City in that what makes the show special is less about there being these standout highlights. It's more the heart and the effort with which the show was made with.
I actually haven't watched City (nor Nichijou)... But yeah, I agree, I'm in this for the fun of it, like I said before, I'm not gonna be too pissed even if they end up together.
It was smart to like focus on the impact Hibiki has on the school. It not only showed what a good person Hibiki is, but it highlighted he is probably setting up his own downfall.
>You're not gonna convince me.
That doesn't mean I'm going to stop trying :P
>From what I remember, that's not exactly how that went down... You haven't watched Fruits Basket, right? Things are way more complicated than that, Fruits Basket has some heavy drama and fantastical elements to it.
I haven't seen it yet, but I assume Kyo starts off aggressive but mellows out over time.
>[](#blankblink)
What I mean is the principal doesn't seem like the type to get worked up as much. And seeing the vice principal get worked up is fun.
>I just wish Akira didn't exist. I'm fine with the others.
I like Akira, and I think us not fully knowing where his head is at adds some intrigue to the show.
>Long story short... I was nerding out (i.e. being autistic) about something and this girl I barely knew thought I was hitting on her, so she asked me if she could tag along with me while I walked my dog. It's hard for me I would imagine to be in a relationship with someone with mental health problems because I too have mental health issues.
Maybe we can enable each other :P
>Still glad she did it lol.
I mean, it was entertaining lol
>I've heard about Cells At Work, seen some clips of it on YouTube and did seem pretty interesting, its been on my PTW for a long time, but alas, I lack the time to watch everything I want :(
I know how you feel [](#therethere)
I will say Cells At Work is one of those animes that's unlike anything else. It is endlessly creative.
>Yeah, it would be very understandable.
And Fuko showed a level of vulnerability in Hibiki she probably hasn't shown outside of her friend group.
I wish I could work less hours...
I try to squeeze an anime episode for the purposes of a rewatch every single day, but some days I just want to crash out and sleep when I get home. I try to strike a balance because I don't want to be in a position where I get behind.
>I want him to be miserably without a clone of himself though!
Boy, you really have it out for Akira.
Maybe Akira clones himself and the clone kills him and that way he becomes nicer.
>If I was 14 and could see the bra through a school mate's wet shirt, I'd probably be blushing, no matter if I liked her or not...
Yeah, you're probably right. Still, it shows he may be open to a relationship.
Let me ask you something. AgentOfACROSS said during the sex education seminar that almost all the girls admitted to getting groped. Did that happen? I don't remember that scene.
>It's fiction, so we could always justify anything that happens... But even within the show's universe, I don't think there's been a good enough reason for him to be confused about his feelings.
I can buy it based on how he's been there for Fuko. He helped her be less clumsy which probably triggered a sense of protectiveness. He empathized with her when her kindness was being taken advantage of. And she felt sorry for her once she learned Fuko's past. Those are all things that might endear someone to a person.
>I know it doesn't make it bad storytelling. Mushoku Tensei is one of my favorite anime and the main character was, well... You probably know.
That I do lol
>Doesn't mean I have to like that part :P Of course in this case, it's a central part of the story, but still.
It really to me comes down to the payoff. So far, the setup has been well done.
>I actually haven't watched City (nor Nichijou)... But yeah, I agree, I'm in this for the fun of it, like I said before, I'm not gonna be too pissed even if they end up together.
If they end up together, I will be disappointed because I don't think I would remember the show as fondly as I do if that was the case. But it has been many years since I've seen the show.
Isn't that every Tsundere? They don't always get a good reason for being the way they are, but Kyo has some deep backstory to tie everything up.
>I like Akira, and I think us not fully knowing where his head is at adds some intrigue to the show.
I still really wish he wasn't as prominent. I straight up don't like anything about his character.
>It's hard for me I would imagine to be in a relationship with someone with mental health problems because I too have mental health issues.
I'm not completely sane of mind myself, the biggest problem being extreme anxiety. But she was... Very extreme. I couldn't even mention my friends to her because she would get jealous, didn't matter if they were men or women. She was completely unstable in more ways than one, which didn't mesh well with my anxiety.
>Maybe we can enable each other :P
What do you mean?
>I try to squeeze an anime episode for the purposes of a rewatch every single day, but some days I just want to crash out and sleep when I get home. I try to strike a balance because I don't want to be in a position where I get behind.
Fortunately I work from home, otherwise I would definitely never take part in anything like this. I mostly write my replies while at work, which I shouldn't even be doing, but outside of that it's almost impossible...
>Boy, you really have it out for Akira.
>Maybe Akira clones himself and the clone kills him and that way he becomes nicer.
I'm just like that. I joined a Dragon Quest rewatch about 2 years ago... There was also a character I felt similarly as the way I do for Akira. The moment I start disliking a character, it's over for them. Nothing they can do will ever change that fact.
>Let me ask you something. AgentOfACROSS said during the sex education seminar that almost all the girls admitted to getting groped. Did that happen? I don't remember that scene.
Yup, all of them except Fujio, but I think she wasn't even listening because of the whole Akira thing.
Those things wouldn't have been as impactful to Hibiki as they were for Fuko, though.
>It really to me comes down to the payoff. So far, the setup has been well done.
It's really hard for me to say whether it was well done or not. It's a difficult topic. In [Mushoku Tensei]>!Rudeus died, there was a sort of punishment for his behavior. Sure, he reincarnated but he tried to change his ways, at least some of it. He still did some weird shit, but it's also very different because not only was it a fantasy medieval-like world where age of consent surely wasn't a big deal, he was also a child, at least physically.!<
>If they end up together, I will be disappointed because I don't think I would remember the show as fondly as I do if that was the case. But it has been many years since I've seen the show.
I will be disappointed in Hibiki, but I'm not one of those people that goes all "YOU SHOULDN'T WATCH THIS ANIME, THE CHARACTER IS A PEDOPHILE, SO IF YOU LIKE IT, YOU'RE ALSO A PEDOPHILE!" I think people who spout shit like that are genuinely insane.
That's what I heard.
And yeah, most tsunderes mellow out over time. And that's my jam.
I've actually been meaning to mention this, but I actually own an orange cat that I named Kyo based off the Fruits Basket character.
>I still really wish he wasn't as prominent. I straight up don't like anything about his character.
I think he does a good job rounding out the cast.
She sounds like my mother when I mention I brought home from work or I bought something from McDonald's. She takes it as a slight on her cooking.
>What do you mean?
Maybe I can meet an emotionally unstable person and we can be emotionally unstable together.
>Fortunately I work from home, otherwise I would definitely never take part in anything like this. I mostly write my replies while at work, which I shouldn't even be doing, but outside of that it's almost impossible...
I often write replies at work as well. Only when there's downtime, naturally.
>I'm just like that. I joined a Dragon Quest rewatch about 2 years ago... There was also a character I felt similarly as the way I do for Akira. The moment I start disliking a character, it's over for them. Nothing they can do will ever change that fact.
It reminds me of Toradora when Ryuuji saw Ami's fake personality and decided from there he didn't like her. She didn't stand a chance afterwards.
Has there ever been a character that did grow on you? That you couldn't stand but ended up really liking?
I know off the top of my head, I used to be indifferent towards Fuyutsuki from Evangelion. But now, he's one of my favorite Eva characters. Same with Kaji from Evangelion.
>Yup, all of them except Fujio, but I think she wasn't even listening because of the whole Akira thing.
That's such a random thing to mention in the middle of the episode only for it to lead nowhere. Why even include that?
>Those things wouldn't have been as impactful to Hibiki as they were for Fuko, though.
I think it depends on the individual. The more time you spend with someone, the more likely you are to maybe feel a certain way.
I know I always mention Toradora, but this is like episode 17 when Ryuuji questions why he helps Taiga out all the time. Is he just trying to be helpful, or is it something more? That's how I see this situation. And yeah, Hibiki is a teacher and not the same age as Fuko, but he has been there for her an awful lot. He must see something in her.
I think it was well done because we've talked about how Hibiki is almost being too kind. That by getting so involved, it'll probably backfire on him. I see Hibiki potentially developing feelings for Fuko as a consequence of him being too involved.
I kinda agree with you to a point. I think there is a difference between fiction and reality. At the same time, I don't think Hibiki really learns anything by getting with Fuko. It would be like getting rewarded for his mistakes, when mistakes have consequences even if the mistake wasn't nefarious.
Damn, naming your cat after a character whose anime you haven't watched yet sure is gutsy... Imagine you ended up hating him lol.
>She sounds like my mother when I mention I brought home from work or I bought something from McDonald's. She takes it as a slight on her cooking.
Wow, that's rough... Can't exactly run away from your mother :/
>Maybe I can meet an emotionally unstable person and we can be emotionally unstable together.
Those were my initial thoughts. Of course at first she only revealed her anxiety problems. The more time passed and the better I got to know her, the more I realized it was never gonna work. Extreme anxiety + constantly having to walk on eggshells so the other person doesn't snap = very bad time.
>I often write replies at work as well. Only when there's downtime, naturally.
Yeah... I haven't had downtime in months, I simply take (a lot) of small breaks...
>Has there ever been a character that did grow on you? That you couldn't stand but ended up really liking?
>I know off the top of my head, I used to be indifferent towards Fuyutsuki from Evangelion. But now, he's one of my favorite Eva characters. Same with Kaji from Evangelion.
Really liking? There's a few I can think of that I stopped hating, but I wouldn't say I started really liking them... Just took a glance through my animelist and I still can't think of a single one. I'm sorry to tell you, I hated Evangelion. I was so bored throughout the whole thing I fell asleep through most episodes.
>That's such a random thing to mention in the middle of the episode only for it to lead nowhere. Why even include that?
It wasn't random, the vice principal was asking them if they'd ever been groped, because she was trying to drive the point that all men are sex crazed fiends.
I do see your point, but it's like you said, Hibiki being a teacher and Fuko being a 14 year old absolutely changes things. It's not like it never happens, but it's extremely rare, and it's not normal.
>I think it was well done because we've talked about how Hibiki is almost being too kind. That by getting so involved, it'll probably backfire on him. I see Hibiki potentially developing feelings for Fuko as a consequence of him being too involved.
I guess it is a consequence of getting too involved. But to me it still feels like it's not because he got emotionally attached, but rather because she did, which made he want to get closer to him. Let's go back to episode 2. While he was lying in bed with her, he tried to get out and it did look like he was about to get... Overly excited. He wasn't too involved at the time, so it seems like he just likes young girls.
>I kinda agree with you to a point. I think there is a difference between fiction and reality. At the same time, I don't think Hibiki really learns anything by getting with Fuko. It would be like getting rewarded for his mistakes, when mistakes have consequences even if the mistake wasn't nefarious.
I don't think there's anything to learn no matter what happens. Except that he shouldn't be a teacher or go around children.
>Thoughts on the school going to Honshu Island?
I don't think I'd ever heard of that place before, but like I said, field trip fun!
>Thoughts on Kōji and Tofu mad they can't go with everyone?
I think we could use some more of their shenanigans, but probably not during a camping trip. So I'm alright with them being mad.
>Thoughts on Miho saying it's too perfect for a forbidden love between a teacher and her student to blossom in the middle of nature? That my friends is called foreshadowing.
I don't think there is a perfect place for such thing!
>Thoughts on Akira revealing he used to be in the boy scouts?
I don't care about anything Akira, unless it puts him in a negative light!
>Thoughts on the two guys who are attracted to Seiko and Hibiki making them letters but they forgot to put their names on them?
Absolute fucking geniuses lol.
>What are your thoughts on Fuko saying Aoki writing a letter to Hibiki really hurt for her to see?
>What are your thoughts on Fuko telling Hibiki sensei her heart races whenever she thinks of her?
Good for her, for finally admitting she has feelings... I'm mostly annoyed that Hibiki was confused about it/might develop feelings too, I don't mind that she has feelings for him.
>Thoughts on the vice principal saying all men want is sex?
She's absolutely right.
>What are your thoughts on Akira telling Fujio stupid rumors go away eventually, which has Fujio upset?
Little shit hurt her feelings, another reason to dislike him.
>What are your thoughts on Lulu revealing she knows nothing happened between Fujio and Akira but she didn't want to tell anyone because it would have ruined the fun?
Based.
>What are your thoughts on Hibiki sensei refusing to give Fuko an answer of who she cherishes most?
In a way, I'm glad he walked away... But he should've set things straight with her and denied the possibility of anything happening between them.
I believe I did skip some of the questions. So, an effort was made kinda.
>I don't think I'd ever heard of that place before, but like I said, field trip fun!
AgentOfACROSS made a good point in that most anime take place ON Honshu Island because that's where Toyko and Kyoto is. So, the fact they're visiting it is some interesting world building.
>I think we could use some more of their shenanigans, but probably not during a camping trip. So I'm alright with them being mad.
I've gotta say, the show has done a good job keeping their presence at a minimum. I think Kōji and Tofu are better in small increments.
>I don't think there is a perfect place for such thing!
Yeah, me neither. But teenagers have active imaginations.
Also, maybe Miho is projecting here about meeting someone?
>I don't care about anything Akira, unless it puts him in a negative light!
Well, given the boy scouts in this day and age, being in that group would be putting someone in a negative light :P
I wonder if being in the boy scouts is part of why he harbors a grudge against girls like he seemingly does. Maybe it made him feel boys are better.
>Absolute fucking geniuses lol.
How they managed to survive childhood without putting a fork in a wall socket, I'll never know.
>Good for her, for finally admitting she has feelings... I'm mostly annoyed that Hibiki was confused about it/might develop feelings too, I don't mind that she has feelings for him.
I think you could've included some in moment thoughts from Hibiki where we see where his mind was at. Like maybe he goes "Wait. Wait a minute. What is this? Why am I..."
>She's absolutely right.
But not a male teenage boy lol
I think this may explain why vice principal is how she is. It seems like she was projecting here.
>Little shit hurt her feelings, another reason to dislike him.
I think it shows even though Fujio has gotten closer to Akira, she still has a long ways to go. One step forward, two steps back.
>Based.
I love Lulu so much lol
Also, it makes sense she would know what was going on since she owns the mountains.
>In a way, I'm glad he walked away... But he should've set things straight with her and denied the possibility of anything happening between them.
It seems like he's still conflicted as to what's going on.
I assume this will be like the main plot point going forward. For better or worse.
TIL. My knowledge of Japan's geography is quite lacking.
>I've gotta say, the show has done a good job keeping their presence at a minimum. I think Kōji and Tofu are better in small increments.
I do agree, but I wouldn't mind a bit more of it. Just not as much as episode 2.
>Also, maybe Miho is projecting here about meeting someone?
Doubt it. Just Miho being Miho at this point.
>Well, given the boy scouts in this day and age, being in that group would be putting someone in a negative light :P
>I wonder if being in the boy scouts is part of why he harbors a grudge against girls like he seemingly does. Maybe it made him feel boys are better.
I honestly don't know how boy scouts are viewed as, but still, I doubt it's gonna be anything very deep. Probably has something to do with his dad's job.
>I think you could've included some in moment thoughts from Hibiki where we see where his mind was at. Like maybe he goes "Wait. Wait a minute. What is this? Why am I..."
Yeah, they've given us very little insight on what he's feeling. Weird, seeing as he's the main character.
>I think this may explain why vice principal is how she is. It seems like she was projecting here.
I don't think she was... She's just saying something that's common knowledge.
>Also, it makes sense she would know what was going on since she owns the mountains.
I don't think owning the mountains really has much to do with it... She's not omniscient inside the mountains!
>It seems like he's still conflicted as to what's going on.
>I assume this will be like the main plot point going forward. For better or worse.
That much has been clear from episode 1 :P
I didn't know most anime was on Honshu Island either.
>I do agree, but I wouldn't mind a bit more of it. Just not as much as episode 2.
Well, yeah. That was too much lol
It established them as characters, but still.
>Doubt it. Just Miho being Miho at this point.
You don't think Miho isn't a lot like Becky from Spy X Family where she's more infatuated with the idea of being in love rather than knowing what love truly is?
>>Well, given the boy scouts in this day and age, being in that group would be putting someone in a negative light :P
Leaving that one alone, eh? XD
>I honestly don't know how boy scouts are viewed as, but still, I doubt it's gonna be anything very deep. Probably has something to do with his dad's job.
Boy scouts could be why last episode he was so insistent on not snitching. He is all about unity.
I know, control your laughter, but we've established him as a hypocrite!
>Yeah, they've given us very little insight on what he's feeling. Weird, seeing as he's the main character.
Well, we kinda got insight by him walking away from Fuko confessing. But I imagine we'll get more insight coming up.
>I don't think she was... She's just saying something that's common knowledge.
Maybe, but it seems like she's had one too many failed relationships.
>I don't think owning the mountains really has much to do with it... She's not omniscient inside the mountains!
You say this but this is Lulu...
>That much has been clear from episode 1 :P
Well, yeah, but now it's probably going to be more front and center.
Can't compare a ~6 year old to a ~14 year old. Of course a 6 year old doesn't know what love is. At 14 years old she's at least going through puberty and whatnot, it's just not the same.
>Leaving that one alone, eh? XD
Don't know enough about the boy scouts to really say anything else :P
>Boy scouts could be why last episode he was so insistent on not snitching. He is all about unity.
>I know, control your laughter, but we've established him as a hypocrite!
[](#lifeishard)
>Well, we kinda got insight by him walking away from Fuko confessing. But I imagine we'll get more insight coming up.
Sure, but we get more than just that with other characters. And of course we will :P
>Maybe, but it seems like she's had one too many failed relationships.
We'll probably never know!
>You say this but this is Lulu...
That's true, the woman just knows.
Fair. I still think Miho is kinda in over her head and has an idea of love that doesn't coincide with reality.
>Don't know enough about the boy scouts to really say anything else :P
Let's just say the boy scouts and the leaders have a reputation that makes Hibiki’s relationship with Fuko seem tame.
>[](#lifeishard)
He's a hypocrite with morals
>Sure, but we get more than just that with other characters. And of course we will :P
Hey, we got episodes to fill [](#whowouldathunkit)
>We'll probably never know!
I want to, tho! And won't stop me from speculating.
>That's true, the woman just knows.
Indeed she does.
I need a Lulu in my life.
That I do agree with.
>Let's just say the boy scouts and the leaders have a reputation that makes Hibiki’s relationship with Fuko seem tame.
So it's kind of like a church, got it.
>I want to, tho! And won't stop me from speculating.
Maybe the principal, vice principal, and Akira's dad are all involved in some big conspiracy!
>I need a Lulu in my life.
Don't we all?
The fact she may be in a pretend relationship is proof of her beliefs of what people have to be like. She's trying to act like she's there even though she isn't and doesn't have to be.
>So it's kind of like a church, got it.
There's a lot of very creepy behavior
>Maybe the principal, vice principal, and Akira's dad are all involved in some big conspiracy!
Now, that would be something .
>Don't we all?
Maybe not as much dog death threats, however. We can hold off on that :P
**Episode 9**
>She’s got big boobs!
>She’s way too masculine for me
😑
Listen. In privacy, it is what it is. Everyone has preferences that can be vain. I, for one, am not a gal who likes thin-lips. But 🫠
Akira, we know why you stepped in 😏
Oh no.
*Oh no oh no oh no*
Fuko, toy really are hopeless. The fuck are you making potatoes into a martial art 😭
Wait women actually *wanted* to be around those two? Fr?
***
It was kinda sad to hear about all these unhappy marriages and the kids can visibly see and hear it from their parent(s). That was very sad to hear.
I’m surprised how sparse the chaperones were for the trip. Every school trip we had, we had *loads* of chaperones patrolling to intervene in the fun romance of the youth.

**QotD**
1. I feel like a lot of anime from this time period where the cast are students, there’s always a camping trip involved.
2. I’m not a fan because it feels like Fujio would always be more in love with Akira than him her.
3. 😬 That’s it. Just 😬
4. Both have warped views, but the principal’s views are a lot more harmful and dangerous for impressionable minds in their formative years. She should not be any sort of educator or in an academic setting. Unfortunately, I know people with her ideologies today who work in healthcare so 🫠
>>She’s way too masculine for me
>😑
Idiots, the whole lot of them
>Listen. In privacy, it is what it is. Everyone has preferences that can be vain. I, for one, am not a gal who likes thin-lips. But 🫠
I don't blame that one kid for falling in love with Hibiki.
>Akira, we know why you stepped in 😏
Eyy
>Oh no.
>*Oh no oh no oh no*
Yeah...
>Fuko, toy really are hopeless. The fuck are you making potatoes into a martial art 😭
It looked cool, tho
>Wait women actually *wanted* to be around those two? Fr?
I know, right?

>It was kinda sad to hear about all these unhappy marriages and the kids can visibly see and hear it from their parent(s). That was very sad to hear.
And then randomly talking about groped everyone.
>I’m surprised how sparse the chaperones were for the trip. Every school trip we had, we had *loads* of chaperones patrolling to intervene in the fun romance of the youth.
Yeah, it felt like it was just Hibiki. Odd.

Any examples off the top of your head?

At least Akira seems receptive of her here.
>3. 😬 That’s it. Just 😬
No kidding
