Similar/better anime than Rezero

Hey guys, Rezero is my favorite anime of all time and its been like that ever since I watched it. Used to be Steinsgate ( is 2nd now ) but I wanted to ask if you guys know anime similar to Rezero. Most anime Ive watched are good dont get me wrong but nothing beats the feeling Rezero gives me. Idk why but its absolutely magical. Especially when I hear the first bit of Styx Helix. The absolute melancholic feeling I feel and the lyrics seemingly being from Satellas POV. This series full of mystery and rich in foreshadowing is just one of a kind.

So now... after all this yap, is there anime that are similar/ better than this? If so, what are they? Please recommend me some ⏬️⏬️⏬️

Mushoku Tensei has a very similar feel imo. it occupies the same space in my brain as re: zero, plus, i think a new movie/season is coming out soon, so it's a perfect time to jump in if you haven't already

Tewx02026-01-10 07:05

Already watched it and loved it. But it still lacks the charm and insane mystery of Rezero... Its my 4th fav tho

teddyburges2026-01-10 07:12

I know what you mean. I only got into Re: Zero recently and I fell HARD for it!. Discovering Re: Zero and then Oshinoko has been WILD!.

Tewx02026-01-10 07:17

Bro watched Oshi No Ko too and it didnt hit at the same level 😅. Idk but Rezeros just so unique. The fact that Satella is singing through the ending theme and is saying stuff like "I wish I was there". And the fact that she summoned Subaru to the world and somehow knows who he is and loves him. So many unanswered questions... and that was just one of many...

teddyburges2026-01-10 07:35

I know what you mean. I feel a similar way. I have a love/hate relationship with Oshi no ko. I think the first episode was incredible. The ending theme is one of my favorites. But I'm too impatient and the mystery part is too slow moving. I sort of ruined the series for myself because I got too impatient and started looking up spoilers for everything and am very disappointed that the anime looks to be heading towards such a terrible conclusion.

I totally agree. I fucking love Re: Zero. I haven't related to a protagonist as much as I have with Subaru. Like OMG can that guy not catch a break or what!.

> The fact that Satella is singing through the ending theme and is saying stuff like "I wish I was there

Whoah I didn't know that!. The Satella of it all. I've honestly had to step away a bit in the last few weeks. Cause that had me thinking for AGES. There is so much questions. The biggest ones I have:

* What's behind the door!!!. This is "What's in the basement" ALL OVER AGAIN lmao!.
* Who is the witch of Wrath to Emilia and why is she acting like she is Emilia's mother!?. IS SHE!?.
* Why the hell did Emilia call herself Satella in the first loop?. Like even Puck was at a loss of words and shocked when she did that!.
* Why does Satella sound and act like Emilia!. Like everything she says sounds like something Emilia would say. I read that some are on a clone tangent that some think Emilia is a clone of Satella.
* What the hell was that spell over Echidna in sanctuary?. That honestly looked like some weird map. My theory at the time was it was a map of all of Subaru's loops. I don't have any other reason other than, that's what a map of Subaru's loops would look like. It would look like the map of the timeline of DARK but dialed up to a thousand lmao.

Re:Zero and Steins;Gate are at/near the top of my favorites as well. Some others that have had similar feel or impact for me:

Madoka Magica

The Monogatari Series

Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song (most of the script for this was written by Tappei, author of Re:Zero)

Shinsekai Yori

Takopi's Original Sin

If you're just looking for the mystery part of the anime, lord of the mysteries was a great watch. I only saw the first few of rezero and it was ok in my opinion maybe ill finish it. But LotM is about a guy who also gets reincarnated but into a 1900s kind of world in what feels like England. His goal is to get powers so he can learn how to travel back to his world.

Pacing sucks in lotm

You're just mad it doesn't come right out and tell you the connection between all of the events. If you're not smart enough to follow it just say that

Re:ZERO is my favorite as well, and you won't really find anything exactly the same. I think I'll recommend Sakurada Reset though (sometimes translated as Sagrada Reset). It's a somewhat lesser known time travel/mystery anime that I thought was pretty interesting. The anime is fairly densely packed, requiring paying attention. It can sometimes be a lot to process, but I liked that personally. Can't guarantee you'll feel the same about it that I did, but a recommendation is a recommendation. If I think Re:ZERO is between a 9 and a 10 (out of 10), then I thought Sakurada Reset was somewhere around an 8/10.
