I need actually good anime recommendations
I’m asking for **anime recommendations**, but I’m beyond tired of people throwing the same “popular” shows at me when most of them **fall apart hard**. I want **dark fantasy, demons, horror elements, OP or fast-scaling MC, serious tone, modern animation** — and here’s everything I’ve already watched and why a lot of it was **disappointing, dragged out, or straight up ass**:
1. **Hellsing Ultimate** – The brutality and OP MC are perfect, but it’s old. The animation, pacing, and presentation feel dated. I want this exact energy with modern quality.
2. **Devilman Crybaby** – Dark concept, but the art style is ugly and distracting. The message didn’t hit hard enough to justify how weird it looks.
3. **Fate/Zero** – Not bad, but overrated. Some good moments, a lot of slow talking, and it never fully delivered on the hype.
4. **Black Clover** – Way too much filler and padding. Half the show feels like wasted time between the actually good fights.
5. **The Misfit of Demon King Academy** – Entertaining for about five episodes, then it’s the same joke on repeat. No tension, no stakes, just constant predictable flexing.
6. **Wise Man’s Grandchild** – Straight up disappointing. Boring characters, shallow story, and a wasted OP MC premise.
7. **Akame ga Kill** – Loved the darkness, hated the ending. The way it handled deaths and the finale felt rushed and poorly thought out.
8. **Chivalry of a Failed Knight** – Way too childish. Tried to be edgy but felt like a battle academy anime for middle schoolers.
9. **Jujutsu Kaisen** – Started strong, but the fights got repetitive and boring. All style, less substance than people pretend.
10. **Demon Slayer** – Carried entirely by animation. The story is generic and the characters are painfully basic.
11. **Tokyo Ghoul** – Season 1 was great. Everything after that was absolute ass. Confusing, rushed, and butchered beyond recognition.
12. **Parasyte: The Maxim** – Decent horror, but never goes hard enough. Feels restrained when it should’ve been brutal.
13. **Chainsaw Man** – Cool chaos, but overhyped. The shock value wore off fast.
14. **Hell’s Paradise** – Had potential, but the pacing was messy and the execution felt sloppy.
15. **Claymore** – Loved the dark fantasy vibe, but it’s old and unfinished, which kills it.
16. **Berserk** – Incredible story ruined by inconsistent and sometimes embarrassing adaptations.
17. **Seraph of the End** – Wasted potential. Could’ve been dark and intense but played it too safe.
18. **Blue Exorcist** – Too soft and shōnen-safe. Barely scratches the surface of its own demon concept.
19. **Noragami** – Fun but shallow. Never commits to being dark or serious.
20. **Magi** – Interesting world, but way too light and adventurous for what I’m looking for.
21. **Hunter x Hunter** – Great power system, but wildly inconsistent pacing and tone. Some arcs drag like crazy.
22. **Ajin** – Good idea, but the CG animation is ugly and hard to watch.
23. **D.Gray-man** – Cool concept buried under slow pacing and outdated production.
24. **Overlord** – OP MC is great, but it leans too hard into generic isekai tropes and loses impact.
25. **Re:Zero** – Dark ideas, but the MC is unbearable for large parts of the show.
26. **Goblin Slayer** – Shock factor in episode one, then it becomes repetitive and shallow.
27. **Attack on Titan** – Started amazing, but later seasons lost the magic and overcomplicated everything.
28. **Blood-C** – Insane gore and horror, but the story itself was messy and barely held together.
29. **Another** – Creepy atmosphere, but almost no action or payoff.
30. **Future Diary** – Fun concept, awful execution.
31. **Inuyashiki** – Dark themes, but uneven and forgettable.
32. **Elfen Lied** – Shock value carried it. It hasn’t aged well at all.
33. **Vinland Saga** – Well-written, but not supernatural enough for what I want.
34. **Deadman Wonderland** – Cool premise completely wasted and left unfinished.
35. **Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress** – Looked great, story was mid at best.
36. **Baki** – Brutal fights, zero supernatural or fantasy appeal.
37. **Fire Force** – Amazing animation ruined by tonal whiplash and dumb fanservice.
38. **Cyberpunk: Edgerunners** – Intense and tragic, but not fantasy or demon-related.
39. **Soul Eater** – Interesting world dragged down by constant goofiness.
40. **Record of Ragnarok** – Great idea, terrible execution.
41. **Castlevania** – Actually nailed dark fantasy and brutality. I want MORE like this.
42. **Gleipnir** – Weird for the sake of being weird, not actually scary.
43. **Terror in Resonance** – Stylish but slow and lacking action.
44. **Dororo** – Solid dark fantasy, but slower than I’d like.
45. **Drifters** – Brutal and fun, but inconsistent.
46. **Tower of God** – Interesting setup, weak payoff.
47. **God Eater** – Cool monsters, boring story.
48. **Akudama Drive** – Flashy but hollow.
49. **Ragna Crimson** – Great darkness and power scaling, adaptation didn’t fully deliver.
50. **Solo Leveling** – OP MC is exactly my thing, but it better not fumble later.
I want **dark, violent, modern anime** with **demons or supernatural elements**, **minimal comedy**, **real stakes**, and preferably an **OP or fast-scaling MC**. Think **Blood-C levels of brutality mixed with shōnen power systems**, without filler or childish nonsense.
If something like this exists and I somehow missed it, please recommend it because I’m tired of mid shows getting glazed like masterpieces.
