why isn't every anime about monster girls? are anime producers stupid or something?
Last year I had a phase when I watched all monster girl anime I could find. I'm very happy to get more of it now!
I think it’ll be interesting to sorta examine what it means to be human from the perspective of these non-human girls.
I also think that will help our sensei to see a good side of humans as well.
They'll grow together.
Wonder if we'll find out that society has a lot of demi-humans living amongst people already, after they've turned human maybe?
I'm betting as the show progresses and the girls become more "human", maybe they end up curing the teacher's sense of misanthropy?
I'll keep tuning in to see how it progresses.
Not only does it feel obvious, I feel like it has already been demonstrated. The science teacher Ms. Yuki is 100% a Yuki-onna, though it wouldn't be obvious without the name or the pin on her lapel, and I'd bet the Math teacher is a cyclops. Both of them 'feel' human enough to us because the things that would make it otherwise have already successfully been hidden by graduating the program.
Are the rest of the staff demi-humans as well? They look fully human but then there would be no need to hire Rei.
It's a cute series and I'm getting the vibes it'll be mostly lighthearted with the occasional serious stuff sprinkled. I can see Rei learning about humans from an outsider's perspective while the girls see the darker side of humanity.
The principal's test also just came across as nonsensical to me. An ilusion to be handsome as a test for who's suitable? Surely the point of the test would be for to turn away people who are too shallow or with ulterior motives, how is a handsome rich-looking guy supposed to be a deterrent for such people? I also assume they got some kidn of spy or assassin network to "deal with" anyone they invite here without some assurance that person will stick around rather than revealing this secret to the world (then again, maybe power of illusions makes it so nobody would believe them).
tolerable first episode..kind of boring really. I do appreciate that even if they show features cute demihumans, they have at least made some of the teachers also cute, so hopefully their will be no creepy student-teacher relationships. I am a sucker for this type of "demihumans in real world" scenario though.
School for becoming human...kind of seems like a downgrade lol. I wonder if they actually become human or if it's just more that they can live as human successfully.
I admit the mermaid and werewolf felt like the characters with the most justification for wanting to go human.
One of the girls is a Bull-headed Shrike? Are we sure her hobby isn't actually impaling small animals on spikes?
I felt the same way, not a lot happened really and it was pretty tame for a school filled with monster girls.
It also seemed like they were mostly animal people rather than monsters for the most part. And low-effort halloween costume animal people as well, with just ears and maybe a tail.
Hopefully we'll see a bit more excitement now the intro is over and at least something from the werewolf.
Lots of wordplay for these names, Usami is a usagi (rabbit), Ohgami is an okami (wolf), maybe even Tobari being a tori (bird). I assume the mermaid girl too but I don't know the word for that one. Hell, MC being Rei might be a zero joke, it used the right kanji for it.
Science teacher being blue haired with a snowflake pin on her lapel makes me guess she's a Yuki Onna which I'm always a bit partial to.
There's some potential here for the students to help Rei connect with humans again while teaching them about human society, could be a nice story depending on how they play it.
I checked her on MAL and the kanji of her family name literally means "water moon".
I thought Rei's joke was that his last name, Hitoma, basically meant human.
For sure. Her lack of boundaries was a sign as well. xD
Bunny girl: \*Proceeds to act like an asshole to score act-like-human points.\*
Maybe I should pay a bit more attention to the authors of novels
Thanks for sharing
True, but fish eat other fish too. I just want some consistency in my silly monster girl school anime.
And the first episode is very promising. So Rei is going to learn to accept humans again through the efforts of these girls to become humans.
The cast is very cute. And this is not the first time that Sora Amamiya is voicing a monster girl, even though this role is a little more family friendly...
Usami is the distrustful enemy. I bet by the end of the show she will be his biggest ally. Then we have Haneda, the cheeky troublemaker, Oogami the shy introvert and Minazuki the romantic ladylike girl. I already like their characters and their dynamic.
They also seem to have been taught random cultural tropes and other rather pointless things, like that dance at the start, and where to drink tea at. Not the open wide part though, that's normal.
Omg the purple girl. Idk what she is but also adorable.
I feel like a mermaid being afraid of seafood is like a human vegan but instead of just having a moral repulsion to food from animals they literally react like they're seeing gore. Food made by grinding up fish, can you imagine if a human saw ground up land animal meat? The horror!

I would honestly prefer a sequel to Interview with Monster Girls, but this works too. It's been a while since the last monster girl anime.
I am curious about the MCs backstory [after he started trauma dumping on the girls.](https://i.imgur.com/WFqomfk.jpeg) Something bad must have happened at his previous teaching job for him to turn out like that.
LOL
Would love S2
Slime max lv s2
Degen recognizes Degen
Honorable mentions go to: daily life of a middle age online shopper
Healers new life in the shadows
What raises alarms is “BECOMING” human, do they transform? Lose a part of themselves? If we go by logic then something must occur if they are able to live in the human world with zero incidents, are they all dead? Do they disappear or reincarnate?
*She wants to make music.*
*Cheerful bird Mafuyu is that you?*
Well, an anime where they don´t sexualize demi-girls, that just for me is a win. And the plot seems interesting, this may be one of my top 3 animes of the season?
Though the idea of a guy who quit his job and hates humans teaching demi-humans who seek to be human. Rei potentially learning to love humans again through teaching could be nice if the story actually focuses on it. Or if it turns into some weird harem anime. Hard to say.
Dialogue between Rei and his students did seem awkward since it felt forced between student and teacher. Then again, they are trying to be humans, I guess. I can tell the dynamic between the girls will make it quite fun, at least.
It also seems strange that they don't teach boys there, like is there another demihuman school in Japan? That seems a very nice expensive facility and they don't seem to have many students and the whole school and presumably the town demihumans live is hidden from view without the magic ring. I'm guessing the girls can probably disguise themselves as humans in the same way te fat short principal made himself look more handsome.
I also didn't know that white meat with the pink ring on it was ground up fish. Unless i ate something different, it was way more rubbery than most fish.
I also wonder if Ms. Yuki was an adult or like a teen or child who teaches there, she really seemed the same as as the younger girls.
In East Asian cooking, ground up fish ("fish paste") is a basic building block for a lot of food products, e.g. fish balls, the majority of oden (Japanese simmered/braised food), etc. They are "beaten" while being made to have more air infused inside (like how cream is beaten milk and sugar with air) to give the elastic, chewy texture.
In Japanese foods, if you can't exactly tell what protein it is made of, it's likely to be from fish paste.
The next higher grade material is prawn paste, which a lot of Chinese Yum Cha dim sims are made with.
I liked how the sarsmugcastic one tried to murder MC by taking away his tea when he was choking. She was the only character I didn't find boring tho, so this'll be a drop.
......well, it's most of the way there, might as well.
So, that's how he got the job.
Ok...
And so a bit of an introduction to each of the girls.
I'd say none of those would be out of place being gimmicks for VTubers (mostly because all of those _are_), but that's probably my bias going in knowing this is written _by_ a VTuber.
Fair enough.
What are the girls going on about for the tea?
Edit: Also are there similar animes to this where it's actually multiple students in class but they're not human and they're both girl and boys? If you know any anime like that, I think I might give it a shot!
This MC definitely hits too close to home for me though. I'm 28, failed the last semester for my teaching degree, and turned to work where I could work alone. I play games too much, and I'm thinking about going back to finish my degree.
I'm interested in learning more about our MC's history.
