Looking for anime to watch with my dad
Hey everyone,
So I’ve recently started watching anime with my dad — and this is wild because he always used to say anime is childish or boring. But we’ve already watched **Attack on Titan** and **Vinland Saga** together, and he *actually liked both a lot* and totally changed his perspective on anime.
To be honest though, we **did stop Vinland Saga at season 2** because he thought it got a bit slow/boring.
Now we’re looking for **more anime we can watch together**, and it’s *super important* that they meet these criteria:
1. **No fan service**
2. **Great story that keeps you wanting the next episode**
3. **Dad prefers no superpowers**, and if there *are* superpowers, then the power system has to be **well thought out and logical** (like nen or stands)
Does anyone have recommendations that fit that vibe? Thanks 😊

The users of this subreddit came up with [a chart of anime recommendations for newcomers and veterans](https://i.redd.it/0w1v880jtq661.png) and [an awesome longer flowchart](https://i.redd.it/vdzlkodz19c71.png). Maybe you can find something there that you'll like \^.\^

You can start one piece though, its great and has only 1 season, you can relate it with the world as well.
As for an action he might like, perhaps Inuyashiki? It does have the unrealistic aspect of the robot body, but it's otherwise pretty mature and really entertaining.
Kindaichi shounen no jikenbo
Buddy Daddies
Eden of the East
Wolf's Rain
Cowboy Bebop
Grave of the fireflies
A Silent Voice
I think Orb would be a perfect show
Promised Neverland
R. O. D. - The TV - (one of the most underrated anime ever and also in my top 10)
Golden Kumay (last season playing now)
Re:Zero
Solty Rei (good sci-fi with an adult male lead, this one isn’t talked about enough)
Cowboy Bebop (my #1)
Tears to Tiara (excellent fantasy/medieval war anime)
Akame ga Kill! (If he likes fights and deaths)
Alderamin on the Sky (military action mixed with some fantasy)
Black Lagoon (legendary action anime, a must see)
It doesn't alienate non-anime watchers, and the fan service is minimal though the Misa Misa girl gets in some odd situations 😂
