Zom 100 or Dandadan?

Hey anime fans I wanna know which anime I should watch next, Zom 100 or Dandadan?

They both seem quite up my alley as I love horror and supernatural stuff.

Zombies in anime are kinda rare especially shows with big budgets. I've already watched Highschool of the Dead so that is another reason why Zom 100 piqued my interest.

Dandadan on the other hand I have seen described as, "the X-Files of anime" and if that is true I will probably love it since The X-Files is one of my all time favourite shows even to the point that I have a big I want to believe poster in my bedroom.

So please let me know your thoughts and opinions on both others to help me decide if I should watch them or not or even which I should watch first!

zom 100

I'd say Dandadan is the better one, but both are worthwhile. It wouldn't take that long to do both.

Angelote832026-01-10 16:50

Both.

mmcjawa_reborn2026-01-10 16:55

Both are very good. If you like zombies I would lean towards Zom 100.

Dandadan is good, but I wouldn't consider it very X-files like, outside that both shows tend to incorporate inspiration from real world alleged paranormal phenomena. It's basically a weird blend of battle shonen and romantic comedy, with some science fiction and horror seasoning thrown in.

Personally, I dropped Dandadan after the first episode because I didn't realize beforehand that it was a battle shounen and most of them don't appeal to me.

So yeah, one (Dandadan) is more of a battle shounen and the other is more of a work life and adventure dark comedy. I would also compare Zom 100 to some horror comedies, like Shaun of the Dead and similar stuff.

I'd say Dandadan has a lot of good inter personal relationship stuff if that's your bag, it helps that fights tend to be two episodes at most. If you were looking for more scifi or horror, then yeah, dropping Dandadan makes a lot of sense.

Comparing Zom 100 to Shaun of the Dead type shows is a good call though.

For me, zom 100 was hard to take seriously. I know I'm not really supposed to, but I found the main character just made so many choices that were so alien to me that I couldn't get into it. It's far more comedy than horror if that matters to you.

I'm hit or miss on popular anime. Sometimes I get why they are popular and sometimes I just don't get it at all. Dandadan surprised me a lot. So many things you see have meaningful implications for how the characters are feeling and what they are going through. This one is also big in comedy, but the situations that the characters end up in also feel like they are in danger when I watch them.

They are two totally different experiences for me. Zom 100 is a 4/10 and dandadan is a 9/10 for me personally. You may differ in how they appeal to you, but for me there is no choice which one I prefer and recommend

I enjoyed DanDaDan much more, but then there's something about zombies that puts me off.
Try both and see what you think.

Dandadan has two seasons with a third season on the way. The manga is still ongoing.

Zom 100 has only one season. It’s unknown whether we will ever see a second season even though the manga is still ongoing.

Dandadans opening alone is perfection

OK_Cartoonist49562026-01-10 17:30

zom 100, I mean come on everyone loves zombies

Connect-Employ-47082026-01-10 17:40

How about both?

sodapopkevin2026-01-10 17:50

Both but probably watch Zom 100 so the time between when you finish DDD and the next season starts is shorter.

SliderGamer552026-01-10 17:59

Probably both? ZOM is a little more of an acquired taste (which is weird to say considering how weird Dandadan can be), outside of a pretty undeniably brilliant start, but they both have a lot going for them.

SnooPuppers3982026-01-10 21:00

I got bored of zom 100, first episodes are th best. Dan da Dan never stops being good or crazy. Dan da Dan is a romcom and not much of a mystery

Slow-Management68502026-01-11 16:00

I would say "Zom 100" is the better and most straight forward one. You know what you are in for.

"Dandadan" has a great first episode, but then goes bananas all over the places. It looks great, but I prefered the more straightforward and grounded "Zom 100".

So it is a matter of taste 😋
