I Need Help I am feeling depressed due to anime
During my 35-day semester break, I spent each day watching anime nonstop. At first, I found it incredibly enjoyable and didn’t feel any sadness after finishing great series like Frieren and Vinland Saga. However after completing two of my all-time favorites Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and Code Geass I did experience a slight sadness but it got away quickly.
Things took a turn for the worse after I watched your lie in april I was genuinely traumatized and spent the whole day thinking about it, scrolling through Insta reels, Yt videos, reddit posts related to it. To lift my mood, I turned to "Skip and Loafer," which brought me a lot of joy, but since it only had 12 episodes I fell back into that cycle of overthinking once I finished it and again spent the whole day thinking about it, scrolling through Instagram reels, Yt videos, and Reddit posts related to it. I've also watched shonen anime like Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer during this time, but they hadn't impacted me nearly as much
I find slice-of-life anime to be my favorite genre, but they often leave me feeling sad after I finish them, regardless of whether the storyline is happy or not. Recently, I watched Kaguya-sama, which was fantastic romcom with its humor and romance, and even though it had a happy ending, I still felt down today for no particular reason.(maybe bcz i am single) I can’t pinpoint why I feel this emotional emptiness even when everything in my real life is going well I improved my grades last semester, so it's not due to academics, and my personal life is also thriving can just a fictional show affect me that much i am extremely confused
I just needed to write down these feelings because discussing them with anyone else seems pointless, as they might not understand what I’m going through If you’ve experienced something similar, I’d appreciate your advice, and if you have suggestions for good anime series I’m really looking to dive into something new even with the semester starting again I am doomed due to anime addiction.

I took a 1 week break followed by a week of just slapstick style shows. Back then detroit metal city helped but its from 2008 I cant remember if it even holds up lol.
Take a break, maybe watch a non anime comfort show if you have any as a palette cleanser
Since Skip and Loafer helped you, you need pure 'Iyashikei' (healing anime) right now. I highly recommend Yuru Camp (Laid-Back Camp). It is basically a warm blanket in anime form. No drama, just cozy vibes and camping. It will heal your soul.
Even if the ending is happy, your brain realizes you don't get to see them anymore, and that feels like a breakup. The better the show, the bigger the void. Trust me, Yuru Camp is different because it feels like hanging out, not a story that 'ends'.
I don't have a specific anime rec, but instead I would recommend trying to talk about these feelings with a close friend.
Hanging out with people you can relax with helps too. And eating good stuff of course..
