Why am I in such a hurry and desperation to finish all animes?

I mean why do I act like I have to finish this anime asap (Obviously with understanding the story too, not just pointless watching) . Like there are millions of animes and i feel like I want to watch all of them asap because you never know about life, this is what I feel. That i'm so desperate to finish one binge anime and then move onto next one

Do you per chance track your watches on an aggregator like anilist or something? I feel like gamification often adds extra fake pressure to burn through shows.

If its just because you feel there isnt enough time .. well .. there isn't. So just give up and enjoy it instead of stressing over it :)

do you have a watch list on a site like myanimelist or something like that which tracks every episode you have watched, how many series, how many total hours etc? If so that kind of statistics tracking often triggers something in humans because we have inherent dopamine response to "number go up". And dopamine is the happy juice that triggers our addictive behaviors.

Yes. Not only that, but it helps serve as a reminder for what you've already completed as well as how you felt about the titles in question. I often go back and reference my list, particularly when I'm answering a recommendation question.

The most popular ones on this sub are MyAnimeList and AniList, in that order.

With so much anime referencing and parodying these days, you want to be able to understand them all. And if you visit Twitter, Discord, etc, and see some discussions and memes, you'd be able understand them.

Honestly, it is a challenge to break from that. I had that for a few years back when I started to deep-dive anime. It's that gotta-catch-em-all mindset where you feel that you're missing out and start to become frustrated that you only have a single brain to work with. But you will eventually curb your enthusiasm.

Make a couple of specific goals for your deep-dives. Watch everything from a specific studio or director. Watch everything with your favorite voice actor. Watch everything with music written by Evan Call or Yoko Kanno. Watch everything that features a red-haired tsundere. (No, don't do that. Unless that's your thing, that way madness lies.) Watch one anime that was airing on the day you were born. Watch an anime from every season that you've been alive for.

This is just a few examples of what I've done to give myself some focus over the years. It doesn't stop the gotta-catch-em-all mindset, but it does concentrate it into measurable goals so that you actually feel like you've done something more than shove anime girls into your eyeballs.

Just make sure not to burnout in the process
