This is just from the pictures posted in this thread. They also directly call him out as sort of a stalker, mostly to say "hey, he's not creepy, because he's really dreamy and he just has golden retreiver energy", but that'll probably not work on everybody.
Doesn't change the fact that not everybody is cool with portraying touching people's faces when they first meet them, picking them up on a whim to show how strong they are and getting in their personal space holding their tie, something easily abused to strangle and choke them. All that shit is supposed to be hot, but that's not everybody's brand of hot, which to me explains the supposedly low CR review score.
You don't have to go as far as seeing the girl as your daughter or your sister, you could even just imagine the guy has 2 other girlfriends in other schools. Now the show won't suddenly reveal the guy to be a player like that next episode, but for some a critical viewing angle like that even being possible is enough to write this show off and give it a bad score.
I think for anime this is kinda harmless considering there are shows out there with incest, pedo shit (which is my boundry btw, no adults hitting on highschool kids or weird sibling/cousin shit) and in general anime girls who do things, if you apply real world logic, would be considered at least sexual harrasment.
Also, I never judged, I only ever offered an explanation as to why some people might not like it. If you're into that kind of stuff that's fine by me. If somebody asked why XYZ Harem anime was getting bad reviews I would have probably come up with the explanation that it makes no sense that all the hot girls in the class fall for the same moron of a cardboard cutout protagonist in episode 1.
This was pretty solid so far. I kinda like how straightforward Ichimura is and Yoi’s reactions were fun. Guy’s a total flirt and she doesn’t know how to process lol.
Gonna stick with this one. I believe in tomboy supremacy!
Everyone knows the best romance anime have cheesy titles like this.
Didn't read the synopsis so I thought this would be yuri from the first few minutes, but I'm not disappointed to get a tomboy romance instead.
The visuals look pretty crisp. I'm probably gonna stick with this one till the end.
They also sound like Kinnikuman character names.
Now enter Kohaku, the first man who ever called her beautiful. Man’s instantly captivated by her and he’s not playing around once he had set his eyes on her. You don’t normally see romance MCs act this forward.
Good first episode. I'll be sticking with this one until the end.
The company makes a bunch of other roux types, but this one is particularly for kids.

One thing that took me out from episode 1 was Nobara. I did not expect that kind of mature voice from her. I know I will have to get used to it since she's my favorite character in the manga.

This was Rei Ichinomiya’s first main role, but I think she was lovely in it as Yoi.
I dropped the manga since I had gotten interested in something else and didn’t go back, but I’m hoping the anime can reinvigorate me to pick it up again. I hope we get more anime adaptations of manga that play with aesthetics and gender with the main characters, especially if it’s more predominant!
I like seeing Yoi as a Prince but the way she becomes a Princess around Ichimura is even better, the way I was smiling as she gets all flustered. The scene at the end was great, I really like how straightforward Ichimura is, I don't think I'd be able to hide my expression, that was a critical hit.
Anyways I'll be looking forward to seeing more of this straight Prince x Prince ship lol. I feel like they're going to get caught since it was shown a student was in the same building.
As always with these high school drama shows you can kinda use how developed the characters are outside the power couple as an indicator of quality, and I'm not even sure we got anyone else's *name* in this first episode.
Lastly that was a weak meet cute.
I think this one's a pass for the season. It didn't do anything I hated, but it also didn't do anything... good.
I would have been much more excited for Daytime Shooting Star with this level of production instead.
A "Prince" is a staple of the Shojo genre, but what happens when that "Prince" wears a skirt and has slender legs? Enter Yoi, a girl with handsome features, short hair, and a dedicated personality that has all the girls gushing over her as the class "Prince." She doesn't completely mind it, even if her friends Nobara (Aya Yamane!) and Kotobokui (Momoki Seto!) tease her about it. But a part of her wouldn't mind juts being seen as a girl for once.
Enter Ichimura (Ryota Suzuki!) the OTHER prince of the school who lands near Yoi and immediately notices she's beautiful...and then mistakes her for a guy, but he was doing pretty well up to that point.
We've got Unison Square Garden on OP and ED! Featuring lovely visuals of Yoi, Ichimura and their friends in colorful and creative visuals as Yoi and Ichimura come together in their romance.
It would be surprising if the two princes WEREN'T compared to each other, though Yoi doesn't quite know what to make of the "Provincial" Prince. Especially when all the fangirls freak out about a connection between the two of them.
Ugh, drunks are the worst, though as satisfying as it is seeing Yoi and Ichimura give him a reality check, watching the manager headlock him while the cashier cheers her on was perfect!
Yoi is self-conscious about herself and the traits that make her a "prince" but Ichimura thinks she's cool, is fascinated by her, and even ends up princess carrying her to boot! It's a lot for a girl to take in.
Yoi isn't used to attention from guys, since they usually make fun of or avoid her because of the "Prince" thing, and now she can't get Ichimura to leave her alone...he won't take his eyes off of her, he visits her in class, even ends up eating lunch with her together as they slowly grow closer and he makes it clear he sees her as a girl. Sometimes it's not a bad feeling to get hit on!
I hope we get the convenience store manager lady some more, I was amused by the way she had that thug in a headlock
ED shows two guys with Ichimura in addition to the two girl friends Yoi has, that's an easy setup for some side ships in a merged friend group.

In the first episode, we're mainly introduced to Yoi and Kohaku (only Yoi's two friends are secondary characters. Ichimura's friends have even more limited appearances). To want to see what happens next, at least one of these two characters has to grab our attention, and for me, it's Ichimura. The scene where he appears, bouncing, backlit, telling someone he finds them handsome, whether it's a girl or a boy… He says what he thinks in the moment… It avoids any romance where, for thirteen episodes, we'd only have access to the protagonists' indecisiveness… Added to this is his nonchalant attitude, like the pause he makes when he's standing in front of the classroom door, the fact that he doesn't care what others think…
Dans le premier épisode, on nous présente surtout Yoi et Kohaku (seuls les deux amis de Yoi sont des personnages secondaires. The appearance of Ichimura's friends is even more limited.). Pour avoir envie de voir la suite, il faut qu'au moins un de ces deux personnages nous accroche, et pour moi, c'est Ichimura. La scène où il apparaît, en train de bondir, à contre-jour, en disant à quelqu'un qu'il le trouve beau, que ce soit une fille ou un garçon… Il dit ce qu'il pense sur le moment… Ça évite toute romance où, pendant treize épisodes, on n'aurait accès qu'aux hésitations et pensées des protagonistes… À cela s'ajoute son attitude nonchalante, comme la pause qu'il fait quand il est devant la porte de la salle de classe, le fait qu'il se moque de ce que peuvent penser les autres…
Ichimura makes bold gestures, but they're imbued with gentleness. Nothing seems out of place. He carries it off with delicacy (princess mode: on). His gaze is quite direct, like when he tugs at his tie… We can assume that at that moment, one of his friends will arrive, since he mentioned frequenting the place often. Yoi is "kawaii," but for now, that's not the personality that stands out. In this episode, the focus was on her attractive appearance, so I'll wait before forming an opinion.
Ichimura fait des gestes audacieux, mais ils sont empreints de douceur. Rien ne semble déplacé. Il la porte avec délicatesse (mode princesse : on). Son regard est assez direct, comme quand il tire sur sa cravate… On peut supposer qu'à ce moment-là, un de ses amis va arriver, puisqu'il a mentionné fréquenter souvent l'endroit. Yoi est "kawaii", mais pour l'instant, ce n'est pas sa personnalité qui ressort. Dans cet épisode, l'accent était mis sur son apparence attirante, donc j'attendrai avant de me faire un avis.
In short, I definitely plan to watch episode 2, and probably the whole season.
And Yoi isn't a tomboy (attitude), but has an androgynous physique (appearance). Many models and actresses famous for their beauty are like that.

For it to be considered ‘delicate,’ imo MC would first need to respect Yoi’s wishes and her consent, but he clearly doesn’t care. And that’s a shame, because at no point in the episode does Yoi show that she actually wants to do anything with him.
And honestly, if he had a less attractive appearance, I think everyone would have hated the character

Tomo- Chan dressed the way she did because she was a tomboy and she felt embarrassed dressing super girly. Yoi, on the other hand, seems to be bothered by the moniker she picked up. I still liked the episode more than I expected, but I have a feeling this might come to get on my nerves.

We got to see Yoi go from cool to flustered and Ichimura be as straight as can be. "It's not quite love but I want to look at you forever" haha
Glad this one's coming out early on Sundays too. Should make it easier to keep up.
Prince 2 really came off as a pushy jerk bordering on sexual harassment but you do see why he acts that way since he's used to having every woman fawn over him and enjoy when he acts like that. It's also suprising he comes on so strong when he probably usually doesn't have to do much work to date.
Yoi really seems conflicted and both taken in by how handsome he is AND that shes unused to boys paying attention to her. She said a boy has never had a crush on her but she is most likely mistaken especially since younger people have a hard time knowing when someone crushes on them unless they are as obvious as Prince 2.
It was also interesting how she went to lunch with him in a private classroom by themselves, like she wasn't scared he would try to pull something inappropriate with her. She clearly does like him but I think doesn't fully allow herself to believe it since she's used to thinking of herself as ugly and manly and thinks someone put him up to flirting with her.

I've been tired of the abundance of high school romance dramas, but the aesthetic and mostly mature main characters allows me to take this more seriously. Even the music is great.
I really like Yoi but I'm not too sold on the other male lead just yet. He seems to be too much in the "plaything" phase where he can come off as teasing her, which can actually hurt her feelings. She wants to be treated as a princess for once and not a prince. Then he kinda confessed to her but kinda didn't :\
Anyways, I'm really excited for more of this. I'm totally smitten with Yoi. Just hearing her voice wins me over instantly.

Yoi's voice actor is quite good considering this is her first role.
It’s fine to be proactive when you like a girl and to be confident, but it’s also important to respect the other person’s consent. I found the park scene really uncomfortable, I mean, dude, you literally just talked to her for the first time, why are you touching her?
The lunch scene is even worse. Yoi explicitly said no, so why does he show up at noon as if she had said yes?! Then he takes her to an isolated place because she wants to avoid the crowd… Like, now you suddenly care about what she wants??
I get that, to some extent, this is probably done to move the plot forward but the MC’s whole “I do whatever I want even when I’m told no” attitude is honestly pretty annoying to watch, subjectively
