FLAG 20th Anniversary Rewatch Announcement
##[FLAG Rewatch Announcement and Index](https://imgur.com/c6i9tWe)
I got a good number of positive responses to the [interest thread](/comments/1q4qdc1/) so I'm happy to announce the first /r/anime rewatch of FLAG will start on **Sunday, Feb. 1!**
For those who missed the interest thread, FLAG is presented as a war documentary almost exclusively assembled from footage taken by war correspondents or combat video. The setting is essentially ca. 2000's Nepal, with near-future tech in 2006 that could mostly exist today. The documentary covers a single UN special operations action during this fictitious nation's civil war.
This show was initially offered on Bandai's PPV channel, so it had very little fansub support. The DVD release was also hampered by issues within Bandai in the late 2000s. Further, Bandai never licensed it to western distributors or streamers. So, it is unlikely you have heard of this outside of mecha circles, and very unlikely you have seen it before. Depending on how you take to the premise and (mild) contrivances introduced to serve this premise, this could be a true hidden gem for you.

DVD rips are available at the usual sites, but also the complete dubbed series can be found at a non-sketchy site pretty quickly.
Note that DVD 2 had to be recalled and re-issued, and there have been reports of bitrot on other volumes, so I would be wary of physical media from 2008.

* Include **basic information about the anime** such as a description for those that haven't heard of it as well as where it can be watched (if legally available).
* Specify a **date and time** that rewatch threads will be posted. Consistency is good!
* Check for **[previous rewatches](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/wiki/rewatches)**. It's generally advised to wait a year between rewatches of the same anime.
* If you want to have a rewatch for multiple anime, they should be **thematically connected**. You can also hold multiple unrelated rewatches if they aren't.
* Ensuring **enough people are interested** is important. If only a few users say they *might* participate, you may end up with no one commenting once it starts.

I hope this helps! You may also want to talk to users that have hosted rewatches before for extra advice, also listed [on the rewatch wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/wiki/rewatches).

Well sadly already got my DVD so uhh we'll see how bad it is.
It's a pretty good story, worth watching for sure, even fairly relevant to this day and age (given current world events).
It's been a very long time since I watched it, but I do remember thinking that I appreciated its approach to mecha, for one thing, as they were treated more "down to earth" I guess you could say, like fancy tanks rather than impossibly acrobatic/nimble giant robots.
