My Thoughts on The Dark History of the Reincarnated Villainess
Ever since My Next Life As A Villainess: All Routes Lead To Doom there were lots of Isekai that came along that tried to emulate it. That's always gonna happen when an anime with a specific story gets popular. My Next Life As A Villainess is still the best in my opinion, and there are some others that are either good or just decent, but this is one of the bad ones to me. It's extremely fast paced, the animation is standard in some ways but at certain points becomes bad. It had a fine premise, a young girl is Isekai'd into a cliche story that she wrote when she was in middle school. She fully admits that it was a self insert escapist fantasy where she was royalty and was surrounded by a bunch of hot guys. It could have been a great parody of those type of anime, and to be fair it seemed like it was trying to be, but I just didn't find it that entertaining personally, for the most part. There were a few humorous moments here and there, but not many. One thing I will say is that the intro went WAY harder than it needed to.

This seasons Neighboring Prince looks to be more of the same generic stuff.
Even in the Japanese schlock OI there is a lot better stuff to choose from and that isn’t even getting to the Koreans who really love the genre.
At times watching the other characters made me wonder if they actually have thoughts and feelings of their own. For too often at times I felt as if they were very one dimensional, always standing in place if they weren't actively doing something with Iana. To this day I'll still wonder why the heck was the main guy, Giordo I think his name was, was consistently at his fiancee's home. Does he not have a life of his own? What was his noble title and role again? Do people of this world interact with others outside purely besides Iana? All in all, the entire cast apart from the butler guy and dark villain childhood friend felt rather flat.
If there is one thing I always hated about reading and watching female otome isekai, is reincarnated heroines that often concern themselves too much about the world's original story to the point where it comes across to me, as if their mind soon degrades into a very dark mental state/depression. In not being to eventually realize the world they're in is an actual living world, and not one constantly bound by bad ends. So after a certain point Iana consistently having to craze about story moments was really starting to annoy me. Like girl, just briefly mention "ah right, this was part of an event where blah....", and stop. After a certain point I am so tick and tired of what your manic mindset while writing the storyline.
And most importantly - why the HECK was Iana always inside the Magnolia mansion? Her sister and the ML got together now officially and you're free from execution. So why are you still there in house? Do you to want to consantly third wheel them? Or take over the family house? I get that you were trying so hard to avoid the butler but what were you even doing the entire time? Did you even have an actual purpose in your new life?
