Winter 2026 is already peak
just in CR alone I have watchlisted:
*Anyway, I'm Faling in Love With You S2*
*Hana-Kimi*
*In The Clear Moonlit Dusk*
*Journal With Witch*
*SHIBOYUGI: Playing Death Games to Put Food on the Table*
*The Daily Life of a Part-time Torturer*
*You and I are Polar Opposites*
*Tamon's B-Side*
*The Invisible Man and His Soon-to-Be Wife*
*Wash it All Away*
and none of these are candidates to be dropped. I can't remember when a simulcast season was this good. Perhaps Spring 2013?
The most amazing part is only 1 is a sequel! Oh and *Freiren* S2 hasn't even started, that's how mind blowing this is.

generic shounen tropes, well.... less so
I dropped JJK in season 2 because I didn't enjoy it.
Hell Paradise, I probably ain't watching the second season because I thought is a bit of okay series. Not something that I'm rushing to watch.
Fire Force haven't really kept up since season 3. When Season 4 came back that I didn't know came back. Probably rewatch the series some point, but I'm not going to rush it.
In terms of what it reminds me of, I'm unsure. It's an old school vibe for a setting that plays off a more modern trope.
god for them I guess? Atleast the studio stress isnt affecting their bedroom performance
The premise is intriguing, reminds me of Clevatess in some ways, with a bit of 86 & Suicide Squad. I think there’s a lot of potential for a compelling dark fantasy story without excessive amounts of edge.
You could always wait to see how the reception is once a few more episodes are out, but the premiere was about as good as it gets & has me fully convinced that this will be my fantasy fix for the season.
Solo Leveling is a great "all action no plot" comparable, but at least Solo Leveling goes hard b/c it actually marries the excellent animation w/ a sick OST.
It's kinda like Suicide Squad mix in with Berserk. Is about a former knight who is been forced to fight demonic beasts due to his past crimes.
I'm kinda interested more in way the main character past and how he will progress. I like some of the ideas that goddess are weapons which is interesting concept.
The animation is really great though and one of the fights reminds me of Unlimited Blade Works. You could see a lot inspiration takes from anime and other stories.
At the least performance in Latin American Spanish dub is great. No idea, how English, Spainard, and Japanese compared to it.
No hate, just offering another opinion for the sake of discussion.
I will say that it comes off as much more natural in the light novel. I don't think they did a great job transitioning it into the anime. Though I think they did the best they could.
I can understand that it was too much tell and not enough show. I think the author would have been better off writing episode 1's duration as when Xylo is on the mission where he ends up killing Senerva. Since it is clear what his actual intentions are in doing that. Episode 2 picks up where the contents of episode 1 started. It would have made a lot of the pacing flowed better.
However, I really like the monster designs.
Sad
I hope the anime keeps being consistent because last few Digimon series kinda shit the bed.
I'm sure if I watched literally every show I would have different thoughts, but I try to check out only what perks my interest or is recommended to me these days.
Yeah, watching everything would reveal all the slop, but I’m sure I’m still missing out on great shows too. I try to keep it at a max of 14 shows so I have two seasonal episodes to watch every day, but I’ll normally go under that and rarely go over it. Granted, I definitely have more interests than most people. I like to try everything. Like this season, I’m checking out Dark Moon. Definitely not my type of show, but I like vampires and am willing to give it a shot. Honestly, first episode did not displease. The only other reverse harem like show I can remember finishing and enjoying was Amnesia, so if I watch Dark Moon all the way, I’ll be surprised
Two of something new a day sounds like a good limit. I give props to fans to can remember more than that, but even if I had the time I feel like a lot of those shows wouldn't stick with me. It's why I find rewatch value a big part of my favorites.
Anyways hope you end up enjoying Dark Moon even though it's out of your wheelhouse.
Basically, I do find some seasons to be much stronger than others. People often miss the best shows in a season, or just don't enjoy those genres much. But even as someone open to most genre, if they're done well, my watching list can slide between 2 and 20 shows depending on the season.
I watched Apoc diaries 2, Dandadan season 2 and Silent Witch.
I dropped
* Medalist
* Gachiakuta
* Clevatess
* Zenshuu
Just was a really quiet year. Shounen series have to be Chainsaw Man/Dandadan levels of unique to be at all watchable.
Shows have to be like Frieren, Delicious in Dungeon, Orb or Apoc diaries level of quality to really stand out.
Regardless, from everything I know, I actually can’t complain here either. Lol. I’ve heard great things about Apothecary Diaries, Dandadan’s a favourite of mine and my friends says I’d love Silent Witch. From what you dropped, I’m only really surprised about Medalist. I heard fantastic things about that. I personally really like Gachiakuta, especially that first opening. I also dropped Zenshuu, by the way. I was so disappointed in that show.
Frieren, Dungeon Meshi and Orb were all incredible too, so if that’s your typical standard for sticking with something, I totally get why you might not be interested in much. If I could give you one recommendation from last year off the top of my head that might give you that unique feeling, check out Sanda. That show to me felt like this year’s Heavenly Delusion, which is also another I’d highly recommend.
By all means, I should have liked Medalist. There's a string of series in that style that I think are all great, but I'm not sure why, something about the main figure skater did just didn't ring true to an actual kid. I gave it like 3-4 episodes.
>check out Sanda.
Yeah that was on my radar, didn't end up giving it a go though.
>. I also have tons of time in a day to waste it on shows and such, so maybe it’s less important for me to only really focus on the best.
I just lose interest following things weekly that don't stand out.
Saying it was a quiet year is an insane take when you had shows like dress up darling S2, rock is a ladys modesty, fragrant flower, takopi's sin, spy family, call of the night, bunny girl senpai, shoushimin, mono and so many more bangers
Dress up manga spun its wheels too much.
I did watch a bit of Rock is ladys modesty, wasn't bad. I much preferred GBC though.
I've read part of fragrant flower, didn't do enough within its genre to keep me reading.
Spy family started very strong, but definitely a series that didn't live up to its ideas. Takopi's sin is still on my list to try sometime.
shoushimin looks fine but not really for me, high school based shows have to be outstanding to make the cut these days. bunny girl senpai, I watched the original back in the day and wasn't really enough for me to jump at season 2.
All those shows are probably fine and whatnot, but they just don't cut through the noise hard enough for me to classify them as noteworthy.
Again, they are competing with Andor and Pluribus and Slow Horses and some old shows like The Shield that I'm finally watching.
I do think saying it was a quiet year is a stretch though.
So it doesn't matter about the amount of shows per season, there's always has been 12-18 shows per season that are even animated decently. So there's always a limited amount to pick around from. Ignorance is bliss, vast majority of anime I drop is because I've read the source, the remainder I finish are usually originals or have not seen the source. It's always a treat to watch a decent adaptation that is an upgrade or fun enough experience to finish of something known, very rare though. Most of the time they are getting the OPM S3 treatment, it's way more common for manga adaptations of a light novel to have more frames/panels for action scenes than some mediocre anime adaptation, etc. It's way less common to see 1 hour episodes 1 like Sentenced to be a Hero or Clevatess, or ending/opening omitted to have more time for the story like re zero.
For me its: Jujutsu, Sentenced, Fate, Hells Paradise, Golden Kamuy, MF Ghost, Trigun and Frieren.
It's like watching Max carve through the midfield car to get to the front of the grid with spectacular overtake.
jjk, frieren, jigokuraku, sentenced to be hero, dark moon, trigun, ao no miburo, hikuidori, yoroi shin den samurai trooppers and from last season toujima wannabe kamen rider
is this fate series "stand alone" or is it tied to something else? like a few season ago Gundam GQuuuX was stand alone, thanks
Glad to see a fellow enjoyer. I thought I'd be alone with this one considering all the big names this season. I was a big fan of Ronin Warriors back in the day.
"QUAKE WITH FEAAAAR"
same reason i checked out Wannabe Kamen Rider, Grendizer U and some older anime remakes/sequels/spinoffs
basically getting some better overview, coz its interesting to see how the genre evolves
It felt like they knew their audience was partially going to be a bunch of 30 somethings Kind of like Bleach 1000 Blood War.
Which, weirdly, is the experience for most anime-onlys with Fate. Even when the Stay Night adaptation was the only adaptation since it yoinked some bits from the other routes and didn't explain them. Then later we got Unlimited Bladeworks (first as a movie movie, then as a series) and much later the Heaven's Feel movies.
mainline/current focus fate with FGO has gone so off the rails, plus tsuki:re retconning so much of the setting, strange fake feels like going back to the original fate trilogy
Haven't read tsuki but for what I understand neither FGO nor tsuki focus on actual Holy Grail wars, so that's why.
Which honestly is kind of surprising with how expansive Fate universe is, how scarce "standard" Holy Grail wars are despite being "easy" to fit in, just have a bunch of mages summon their servants and duke it out at some random location. FGO already provide tons of servant to pick from, just making a couple new ones to actually maintain the "who could be this servant?" gimmick
im fine if the war goes off the rails i just prefer the war setting it all the crazy parallel world fake world space shit face has gotten into
I guess I'm just too simpleminded and likes just battle royales of anime-reimagined historical/folklore figures duking it out.
I haven't found the time to check out Strange Fake yet, but I'm really looking forward to it now!
I hope this leads people to be interested in Fate Franchise.
Before this season aired, I thought it would just be a season where you watch the sequels (Frieren, OnK, etc)
But yeah, I picked up Shiboyugi, Hana Kimi, Noble's Vacation, Isekai Office Worker, and Sentenced to be a Hero so far.
Happy season everyone. May trashy isekai die an horrible death so we can get great animes more often.
I watched the first episodes for Samurai Troopers and Hell Mode but I don't know if I'll continue.
And of course, waiting for Frieren like Himmel the hero did 🗿

>We were supposed to watch this last week, but was too tired, so we'll start it tomorrow prolly
**The Holy Grail of Eris**

**Kaya Chan Isn't Scary**
**Hana-Kimi**
>We already saw the first three episodes. This shit crazy tho. I'm getting flashbacks to me reading this in middle school and shit, but it's lowkey worse than I remember. Shawty a full on stalker and idk how I feel about it.
✨Turning on, but they're on a short leash✨
**Champignon Witch**
>I wasn't sure that I was gonna like this, but fuck me sideways I LOVE IT!! it's on in this section because I wasn't excited to try it until after I saw the first two episodes. It's got this storybook/fairy tale vibe.
**Tamon's B Side**
**Reincarnated as a Dragon Hatchling**

**You and I Are Polar Opposites**
>This is a huge maybe -- I like the FL ALOT, but I'm worried it's gonna not be good at all, so no hopes for this one

✨ Didn't Intend on Doing this, but trying to anyways!✨
**Shiboyugi**
>I was planning on *not* watching this (death games are hit or miss for me), but a friend told me to try it so I did. I'm...interested, but not sold. It's very...artsy is the only way I can describe it without spoiling it. We'll see next week.
**Trigun Stargaze**
>So, I didn't care for Trigun as a kid and my husband was a big fan of it since he was a kid, but Stampede visually threw both of us off. So, we didn't bother to try it. We finally gave it a chance recently and so far we're really liking it! We're not actually finished with Stampede, so we might not start Stargaze, but *maybe*!
\- says the guy that dropped The Daily Life of a Part-time Torturer without even finishing the first ep...
2026 is stacked as hell.
I know Frieren and Dunmeshi is coming this year.
I'm also watching Champignon Witch, Isekai Office Worker, Dark Moon, Kaya-chan isn't scary, and A Gentle Nobleman's Vacation Recommendation.
Also Frieren when it comes out, as well as JJK so far, and Golden Kamuy. Not a big fan of the JJK Culling Arc and dropped it there when reading the manga, so I'll see how the anime portrays it.
